While we enjoyed the ambiance and idea of the restaurant, the service was very slow, food came out at different times with mine coming at the end of everyone else's eating time, and the AC dripped (and was too cold).
This past Saturday, around 11am we experienced the worst service, cold food, and a manager that we didn’t even bother discussing the issue with because he was aware of it the entire time and did not care. There was one other table of customers at that time.
We really enjoyed our meal! Thank you for hosting us on a fun Saturday night!
My husband and I went there for dinner before a movie last Saturday night. We sat down at our table and our waiter came over right away. When my husband asked what was good, he recommended the most expensive dish on the menu. We ordered a starter and then dinner. Halfway through our appetizer, our dinner came out and we were pressured to give up the half down queso fundido so that they could put our plates down. The water and tea glasses were the size of juice glasses, and it was difficult to flag anyone down to refill them even though the restaurant was half empty. We were in and out the door in exactly 25 minutes, not exactly what we were looking for on a Saturday night at a "foodie" restaurant.
Enjoyed El Bolero. Seated promptly. Food was fresh & delicious. Service was attentive. A bit noisy, but no more than most restaurants. Happy to see one going in at Fitzhugh & Bennet on way home. Will return & recommend.
The restaurant was very loud. The chips have chili powder on them and they were spicy. The green and red salsas were very hot. I couldn’t get a break from the heat.
My boyfriend and I went to this restaurant for the first time this past weekend. We absolutely loved the food. From the salsa and chips to the main course. We shared a chorizo potato appetizer and the steak fajita plate. The steak was cooked perfectly to our expectation. Our server was nice, but she did not check on us much. Overall, we recommend dining here.
We highly recommend El Bolero as it checks 5 stars in all categories. The wait staff was very attentive, and the Manager came over solidify the experience. Our meals were outstanding. The Carne Asada Salad, and the Beef Fajitas were tasty and tender. The Tres Leches Neapolitan was good.
Such a neat place!! Try the oilman margarita!!! It’s amazing. Neat and delicious food options.
A huge pet peeve of mine are restaurants that have either given so little thought to controlling the sound levels, or purposely design space in such a way, the the noise level makes it completely impossible to hold a conversation without shouting. This restaurant fits that bill. The decibel levels averaged around 100 dB the entire meal. That is ridiculously high...right up there with power tools. Will not eat there again and not recommending to friends.
Interesting menu and cocktails. Great service and the waiter did a great job explaining the different dishes and helping us chose want to order.
Friday lunch special is rock lobster fajitas — excellent meal and value.
The food was excellent!! The issue we experienced was regarding being seated. We had reservations but it took 3 separate trips to the hostess stand until someone could finally get us seated at a table. I spoke to a manager on my second stop at the hostess stand and she said that there was a big party that had some of the staff flustered. I’m not sure how that confused them about seating our party according to our reservation. It was a mess, but the food is superb!
Special was Fried Lobster Tacos...these were so dang good that they should be added to the menu. Could definitely be a signature entre.
Restaurant is loud but the service was outstanding (thank you Javier) and this place has the best house margaritas!
Loved the decor, the food and service. It was just down the road from the Hilton where I was staying.
Great food, great service.
Great food and cool place
Celebrating a birthday everyone enjoyed their meal scallops and ribeye were the favorites
The Oilman with Black Tequila is outstanding. Food is great. Worth a return visit.
I have eaten here repeatedly and love the food. The bacon guac is simply amazing. Anything else I have tried has been great.
Our service this time was terrible. But I will still return when I am in town again because the food is that good.
Only regret was not taking pics of our food before it was gone. The cocktails were mouthwatering forcing us yo have more than one- that good. Ordered the mole tacos and pozolo and both were delicious and flavorful.
The food was very good. The service needed some work though. My wife asked for her onions well done and they did not arrive that way. This was not a big deal at all as it does happen. What the problem
Ok food in interesting location
Service could be improved
Food was absolutely delicious. However, we had a reservation for 8:15 and were not seated until 9, there was a birthday party that the manager basically let them do whatever they wanted because they are regulars, this caused a delay for other people who were waiting on tables. I would not go back
Didn’t have enough menus go our party of 12 and the waiter seemed inexperienced since we had to ask twice for refills of drinks.
Awesomw Mexican, not Tex Mex, but really great Mexican food. The ambience is nice, drinks are phenomenal. Have loved every time we have been here. Beware the churros filling is extremely hot
This restaurant was convenient to the Renaissance Hotel on Stemmons. The food was very good! We especially liked the Poached Eggs on Jalapeno Crab cakes. Not too spicy - just right. They included sliced avocado for me on request. Great Sunday Bruch for our meeting with friends. The Mimosa and Bloody Marys are terrific!
Delicious food, great service, and fun atmosphere! Will visit again!
Waiter was awesome and so very patient! Food was well done!
Amazing food, drinks, service!!!!
The food was horrible, service was horrible, waiter was rude and impatient. Never going back!!!!
The food was amazing! We were in town from Chicago and were able to get a reservation for Sunday night. It was very quiet at the restaurant (May 6th) bc the night before was a big celebration for Cinco de Mayo. They were out of ceviche which was a huge bummer, but the tuna tartar was an excellent runner up choice. The staff was very friendly and happy to give recommendations. We would definitely recommend and love to visit again when we’re in Dallas :)
Great drinks. 2 dishes we tried were great. Will come back. Eric was an awesome bartender
We were there for a special occasion with set plans after dinner. Our entire party was on time. We waited over an hour past our reservation time. The manager was very nice about it but it was extremely frustrating as the hostesses sat one of the tables we they were going to use for our party as we were standing there waiting. If we wanted to wait for a table, we could have gone anywhere else. The only reason we chose this restaurant was because they had an available reservation.
My husband and I love this place. The ambiance is chic and upbeat. They have two sauces – a green salsa and a smoky salsa which are both out of this world. I can never decide which one I like best. I also like Mexican cokes and they have those in the bottles which are so tasty. This place is in our top three of the metroplex.
The food was amazing. I had enchiladas with brisket meat, excellent. The service was also great. The background music was really loud so we had trouble with conversation or hearing the server.
The food was fantastic and not just your ordinary Mexican/TexMex cuisine. Every item was prepared with its own different touch. The food presentation was also pretty good. The drink items seem pricey to me but not exorbitant. Our server did not seem too knowledgeable about the food on the menu nor was she efficient but she was quite pleasant and not overly attentive. I left feeling like I had made a very good choice about everything.
The manager seem to have an attitude. Could not make any food substitutions.
We had a very large group and El Bolero accommodated us in every way possible!
