Mon–Thu, Sun 5:00 pm–9:00 pm
Lunch food was average.
While the food was very good and the server attentive, the kitchen must have screwed up our order. We waited for almost an hour for our entrees and mine was just sushui. We kept being told by our server that the kitchen was just minutes away from completing our order. This went on for about 20 minutes after the food should have been served. At least 3 other tables that were seated just before or right after us were served, ate and left before we were served. This was our first time here and I am willing to give it a second chance, but not a third.
A little too much rice on all of the sushi rolls. Rice was sticky and masked the flavor of other ingredients.
I always love the food at Eighty 8 and this time was spot on for flavor!
The only reason this visit did not get full stars was the service was slow and not very attentive and the time it took to get food was VERY slow this trip. We spent over 1.5 hours there for lunch. There were only a few tables in for lunch, so not sure what the delay was.
The sesame chicken was excellent and the miso soup was very good too.
Tried the calamari which was very different garnishes and done in a panko-like breading, but was very nice large pieces that were not tough at all.
Since the food was great, will definitely be back again in hopes of better service and faster turn-around time for food.
It is very open and looks like empty. Food is ok
While visiting from Philadelphia, my family and I planned a meal with friends at this establishment. Our reservation was made with great anticipation and high hopes for amazing sushi. We were disappointed from the arrival of the appetizers until the check was dropped at the end of the meal. The food was clearly not fresh and was nothing like we expected it to be. In addition to the poor food, the service was equally as poor. The server was present only to deliver food and drinks and then at the end of the meal to drop the bill. She never cleared our appetizer plates and never bothered with the dirty dinner plates. She didn’t even bother to bring a pitcher of water to refill our glasses that were empty.
Needless to say our local friends will not be back and neither will we!!! I really hope this place gets its act together.
We sat at the bar. Bartender also had other tables in the restaurant so she was not really interested in us. She was more concerned with telling other employees that her boyfriend and her were on a break from there relationship.
Food is great! We go here a couple times per week.
Sushi is the best I have found and every one of their meals are excellent.
The owner really cares and takes the extra time to make sure that everything is just right.
I would highly recommend going and you will keep coming back!
There was only one other customer dining while we were there. It took half-hour to receive dinner. Our chicken was over cooked. Too dry even though in a sauce. Fried rice had very little taste. This was our first and last time that will go to Eighty 8.
We sat outside and it was lovely. Our waitress was wonderful and the food was delicious. The chef even came to our table to chat with us and ask how everything was. I will definitely go back.
Wonderful food and friendly staff.
This place was great! We really enjoyed the food. even my picky kids lol. The manager and chef stopped by and asked how we were and if everything was to our liking. Thats great customer service!
I had family in town and made a reservation at eighty8. Our table was ready and completely set up upon arrival. We did a family style dinner, we tried some of the maki rolls, which were larger than expected and Buy One Get One Free as well ad 4 entrees. We had plenty of food and it was all delicious.
While the service was great, the food wasn’t anything special. This is the second time I dined here and left both times with the same feeling: something is missing. The sushi didn’t have that great taste. It lacked seasoning and flavor. I think others must have the same feeling because the place was pretty empty on a Friday evening. Don’t think I will be giving it a 3rd chance.
It was a Thursday night and slower than I had expected but the food was amazing and our server was great. I also really like the atmosphere. I plan to come back.
Very disappointing first (and, subsequently, last) experience. The restaurant itself is quite nice and looks beautiful. The service, however, was absolutely horrible and the food mediocre at best.
It took 50 minutes from the time we ordered until the time the food got to the table--and it was only two entrees. The restaurant was starting to pick up in terms of how busy it was, but it wasn't slammed by any stretch of the imagination. So, it made no sense to have to wait so long for food, let alone get bare minimum service.
The calamari was different than what you'd normally get and it was delicious. The seafood egg drop soup wasn't very good (I love seafood and I love egg drop soup, so I figured it'd be a winner--it definitely wasn't) and the chicken pad Thai had way too much fish sauce in it. I ate maybe 10% of my soup and 50% of my entree. I normally eat everything or take leftovers with me. I gladly left it all behind and went home to have a snack.
AMAZING sushi and the best Crab Ragoon I have ever had! They use actual crab meat. This is now my favorite sushi spot!
A wonderful experience w great service, relaxing atmosphere and delicious food
Valentine’s Day meal - server was very distracted and overall took a lot of time to get our drinks (had to come back couldn’t even remember what we ordered) and food. The food itself was delicious and a good value. BOGO sushi roll was excellent.
Food was excellent! My husband and I had dinner here for Valentine's and we really enjoyed!
Nicely done environment for Valentine's Day. Every woman was greeted with a long stem red rose. The live music was spot on, loud enough to be heard but not obtrusive. Food was expertly prepared and made the evening complete. Great service from Ryan, our server!
Food was great and we already have reservations to go back this week! Owner/Chef is a great guy....
It was okay- a little pricey!
I went there to celebrate my daughter's birthday on Jan 30, 3017. The hostess greeted us with a bright smile, she was welcoming...BUT the waitress had an abrasive, unpleasant attitude, did not engage with us at all. She appeared to be angry to be at work.
There were very few customers, so she wasn't busy at all. The Sushi item I ordered had a bad rancid oil taste and I couldn't eat any after the first bite. Neither the waitress nor the manager who came to ask what was wrong with the food offered another item or offered to discount the bill. The waitress got defensive and told me that this was the first time she had ever heard a complaint, and started to argue with me about my experience. Their conduct reflects a total lack of customer service training. Sorry, I will neither return nor recommended to my friends and work colleagues. Should have gone to Sushi Thai on Kildaire Farm Rd which has never disappointed me in 22 years.
A casual mid-week dinner out with my husband. A light crowd in the restaurant but service was attentive and courteous as expected. Upon finishing our sushi meal (delicious), the owner came over, introduced himself - and comped is a wonderful piece of their ‘in house’ made cheesecake. Delish!!
They’re not just Sushi, so check them out, Asian fusion fare-
Rita & Don
We were one of the first to be at the restaurant fot lunch. It took us a while to order as we were discussing business. Ordered 2for1 sushi rolls. Sushi was very good. However our soy sauce jar had only enough soy for 2 small bowls...not enough for 4 rolls. We asked for extra ginger and waaabibwuth our order but it wasn't delivered until we asked again. We also asked for more soy, which took an inordinate time to receive. When they brought the soy it was only 2 small bowls...not a small pitcher of soy. Seemed they were skimping on the soy.
Service attentive, food tasty, and tasteful decor
Great food. Reasonable prices for sushi. Casual feeling, but a really nice meal.
We went for my hubbys birthday. The sushi was awesome and the bulgogi egg rolls are AMAZING!
Great food and service but Sushi is way overpriced for this area.
Ok so I'll give you all the details but all I can say to start is for God's sake get the bulgogi egg rolls to start! Great service, friendly, casual and very helpful. Quick turn around on drinks and apps. Very creative menu that really runs the gamut from Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Thai. I will definitely be back soon.
The husband said it felt like we were in a high school cafeteria. The restaurant needs some partitions. The fish was very good, the steamed veggies were bland, the free appetizer crab wontons was mostly fried dough with no taste of crab, the chicken hibachi was just okay. The restaurant on a Friday night was only about 20% full. We found nothing that makes this restaurant stand out. We can pay the same at similar restaurants in the area and get much better food and BOGO sushi rolls 7 days a week. I would suggest taking the menu up a notch in quality, offering BOGO rolls all week, and changing the layout of the rooms to make them more cozy. Ceiling tiles will help with the noise.
I really like this restaurant and I wish more people would try it because I don't want them to have to close. It is not nearly busy enough when I have gone, but they have good service and good food, good decor . GO TRY IT!
My husband and I tried out Eighty8 for the first time and it’s a great Asian fusion restaurant! A little bit of everything for everyone. Had the spring rolls and they were tasty with a sweet dipping sauce (my favorite). Hubby ordered sushi and said it was phenomenal and I had the Tofu Pad Thai noodles and it was YUMMY with lots of flavor, best one I’ve had. If you like sweet and savory, I would highly recommend this dish! Prices and portions are great. The server was very attentive to our water and checking in on how we were enjoying the food.
The ambience (very trendy), food and service was on point. I would highly recommend this place for all occasions. My husband and I look forward to dinning there again.
