Ed's Lobster Bar - Sag Harbor
Food was good just overpriced
Especially for the kids meals
The lobster roll was $35 on a hot dog roll, without even a hint of Cheaspeake Bay Seasoning, or any spices, not any mayo, no lettuce leaf or slice of tomato, celery piece, not even a pickle, just a glob of hard French fries. Lobster bisque had 3 tiny pieces of lobster meat. The small dish of mac&cheese was reminiscent of Velveeta instant from years ago. Homemade lemonade was good. The Pandora 80s radio station was loud. Danielle our server was very nice. The inside has a/c but the doors are wide open with flies buzzing in. Close to $108 for a major disappointment.
It was loud and energetic on a Saturday night; everything was fine with only a few small quibbles. I'd suggest considering a larger fish portion on the fish and chips plate; be sure to offer hand wipes for customers who choose the lobster; and perhaps straighten out responsibility for who brings the check to the table after the meal is finished. It took quite a while to get anyone to bring the check and then awhile to pick up our credit card to pay. But overall, the food was tasty, and the service was pleasant and polite.
Casual, nice, large outdoor dining, very friendly staff, dog friendly, good food, casual presentation.
We so wanted to love Ed’s but our disappointment was beyond. With the exception of a very sweet, accommodating hostess and our server our dinner was overpriced and mediocre at best. Lobster roll presentation, taste and quantity we all meh. Clam chowder was a watery disaster, although lobster bisque was quite good. Coffee was $6 for a cup, more than a bottomless cup at Guerneys and tasted like instant. Truly disappointing. No ambiance outside except loud music that detracted from any atmosphere.
Great food, very low key setting, and our waitress was excellent!!!!!
Cute place for a fun dinner. Staff was lovely. Food WAS GOOD.
Great local spot for lobster rolls etc
Fresh food great service
Disappointed. Food was mediocre at best, overpriced and absolutely no ambiance.
Soup bot hot, waiter never came back to ask, lobster was muchy and awful
Our lobster rolls were delicious as well as were the clams. My only reservation was the price! $35 for lobster meat on a hotdog roll with some fries seems a bit excessive!
Food was great
$35 for a rather small lobster roll. Come on! Nice place but just not worth it.
Ed's is a bright shiny white bar place with an open kitchen and an energetic vibe, with music to match. Excellent simple seafood with a focus on lobster, as you might expect - from rawbar items to lobster rolls, lobster cobb salad, and a hamburger for those who wandered in here by mistake.
A great place for a terrific meal at reasonable prices for what it is. Noise level makes it a challenge for serious conversations...
This was our first “dine in” experience since Covid hit 15 months ago!
We sat outside, our five month old Golden Retriever was also welcomed with a bowl of water.
Only complaint was the reggae music making it hard to hear each other.
Food was simple and tasted great. Service was attentive and friendly.
The food is excellent, albeit expensive for such a casual place. $35 for a lobster roll with fries? Great vibe.
Best hot lobster roll I’ve had! Lobster bisque was also amazing
Tuna Tartar and mussels in wine/ garlic sauce were very good. Very disappointed with lobster rolls. For $29 each, tasted like bland store bought lobster salad. Macerated meat without a single identifiable chunk of lobster. Two apps, 3 lobster rolls and 3 beverages (non-alcholic) was $150 before tip. On the positive side, staff was very friendly and the atmosphere is bright and open. They are also outside the main business district, so traffic and parking was not a problem. Of course, it's only late April...
The service was great also the people were very nice, the food was okay and the atmosphere was fast food like, but overall GOOD!!
The servers were very attentive. However, the food was lacking in taste (specifically the lobster rolls). 3 out of 4 adults had the signature lobster roll and none were pleased with their meal. Fish tacos, calamari and mussels were delicious.
Peter and team are excellent as always!! Best restaurant on the entire east end.
Fantastic lobster roll and seafood medley and the GM, Peter is amazing! Highly recommend a stop here or getting takeout if you're visiting Sag Harbor area.
Absolutely spectacular as usual. Best food and staff on the east end!
Given the negative reviews, I was hesitant, but decided to go for Restaurant Week. Clam Chowder was very good. Caesar Salad was good but ordinary. Lobster rolls were good. Not small. Typical size - plenty of lobster. Pistachio Cheesecake was excellent. Service was quick and attentive (We were the only customers however). Overall, a very good experience.
Went for my boyfriend's 40th, and it didn't disappoint. He is a lobster lover and was so happy with the meal there are just no words. Staff was on top of it and super friendly. Couldn't have asked for any better.
If Ed’s had heaters it would have been better
We went with another family for dinner and they had large tables to accommodate us. The manager and staff were very friendly and attentive and the restaurant had a good vibe.. We had a pizza, tuna tartare and fried Ipswich clams followed by brisket burgers and lobster rolls. Everything was delicious.
There is a local band that plays a few times a week. The band played jazz and rock n roll. It was a nice vibe and very fun for a Sunday lunch.
If you’ve been to the NYC location you get that NE feel and the food is always great the same is true at Sag Harbor.
The food is always first rate. The service is among the best I have experienced. It is always a pleasure to visit Ed’s.
The freshest oysters from Montauk and the best lobster around.
Jazz night at Ed's Lobster Bar is always a treat! The staff are super friendly, the food is great and the musicianship is world class. My wife and I have been there four Thursdays in a row and haven't been disappointed once.
Went on a quiet Friday evening in January. Lovely host and manager, excellent service, and best of all, great food (lobster roll and burger). We even enjoyed the wines by the glass. It was very quiet and we were pleased with the value. We will definitely return!
The ambience at Ed's is really off -- too bright for dinner. And there was no bar tender so we sent the drinks, made by the owner, back twice.
went for the Jam Session; will go for that again, but eat elsewhere. The food was truly awful. How can you have lousy fish in a fishing community? No one is minding that store. But the staff were really nice.
David, the manager, tried hard, but ultimately, the place failed to provide acceptable food or service. The place was far understaffed, which, given it being the off-season, was not intolerable. However, to have management tell us that they were too busy to make a drink, is simply bad business. Moreover, we were promised a steep discount on a bottle of wine, which, of course, did not appear on the bill (too upset to ask at the end). The server, who was brand new, tried hard, but was unable to overcome lack of basic training (gluten free specified dish came out with gluten abound), and the food simply wasn't very good. Very unfortunate as their NYC location has always delivered. I truly miss Bay Burger!
Place was closed. Why did they accept the reservation if they were going to be closed.
We highly recommend the lobster roll.. large chunks of lobster and no filler!!! Also you must try the mussels in the lobster broth... exceptional! Their service also could not be better.. very attentive wait staff. Not much ambience... but who needs that if you go with someone you care about! We sat outside and enjoyed the informal patio.. and each other’s company.
We went to Ed’s after having difficulty finding a table elsewhere to finish off Labor Day weekend. Ordering was difficult and they got a few wrong items which were corrected except for one dish they kept getting wrong. My vegetables were cooked from frozen (corn and beans). Quite expensive which I understand for Sag Harbor but cost didn’t match experience and it’s not in downtown either - it’s about a mile out of cebtral Sag. Margarita was not drinkable. Tuna steak was huge but so bland I didn’t even finish it.
Won’t go back here for sure. Maybe the one in NYC offers a better experience?
Lobster roll was good as was lobster Mac and cheese. Otherwise stay away from other non-core items from menu.
Delicious Linguine with Clams & Fish ‘n Chips
Had waited all summer to finally get to check this place out. Pretty disappointed. It's not a place for dinner it's more of a snack shack. We walked in and at first were impressed with the decor and modern look. We then waited for nearly 5 mins where no one greeted us or told us where we could sit. I had to grab someone's attention to ask if we could sit. And it wasn't busy at all. We sat at one table and had to move because it had used utensils on the table. The table we sat at next had food all over the floor and more used utensils. If you are going to charge $36 for a small lobster roll you should at least clean your restaurant. Food was overpriced and average. There's much better places that provide better service and a more reasonable and better tasting lobster roll. Nothing to see here unfortunately as I was really excited.
