Ed's Diner - Watford
We had dinner for birthday celebration and had 5 teenage boys in tow. The staff were absolutely brilliant in accommodating the boys, giving them their own space to enjoy their dinner. They were really attentive and just incredibly kind. Haven’t had this level of service in a very long time!
The food was inedible absolutely disgusting. I was served a burger with salad if you can call it that. The salad was old and dry it definitely wasn’t fresh. My husband’s eggs was so over cooked and rubberised, unlike his hash browns which were completely under cooked and dripping in oil.
The service was ridiculously slow and the staff looked like they didn’t want to be there.
Went here on 21st October before the cinema with my partner. I’ve been to Ed’s multiple mainly the Brighton branch and have never had any problems with the brand. Unfortunately Watford was not as good as I had hoped. When seated they were unaware of my booking and when I told them we booked for 5pm, the woman who I assume is the manager just looked at me very confused. Every time I’ve been to Ed’s I have always had great service but I have to say here is not. I ordered Mozzarella dippers and I asked if I could swap out the BQQ sauce for sour cream, as I have an allergy to something in BBQ, she just said ‘no unless you want to pay for it’ I explained I cannot eat BBQ sauce and that when I have eaten at Ed’s before they have had no issues swapping it out for me and making sure things have no BBQ traces in them however she was certain there was no way she could switch them! I ended up saying don’t worry about any sauces with my meal as we were on a time limit. My partner ordered the spicy chicken wings, as we waited a while for our mains to be bought over we overheard the chef asking worrying questions like ‘what is a chicken burger with just lettuce’ and not knowing what it was. Our mains arrived before our starters - lukewarm May I add. We said we ordered starters and the same manager just said ‘oh ok’ and took the starters from a heat lamp and just sort of half arsed put them on our table with our mains. My boyfriend didn’t get wings, he got chicken strips with no spice on them, and the ribs he ordered were half warmed as if they had been microwaved a couple of times but before we could even comment on it the manager had quickly gone back to her laptop on the side talking to a waitress leaving one member of staff to do everything in the restaurant from seating people to serving completely run off his head. We had no meal check backs and the manager just went home despite seeing our empty plates and us waiting to pay for the food. I’m extremely glad that I had my 2 f
Booked a table for Sunday at 10:30 (screen shot of confirmation) to get into Watford and see it not open till 11. Partner and I still went. When giving our order we was told there wasn’t any sausage patty’s (wasn’t told that when we was seated). Overall one big cock up. The restaurant has dirty old duke box’s on the table which look incredibly unhygienic. Staff was alright food was alright. Maybe would go back to a London one where I’d guess it’s a lot more looked after.
Severine is an amazing waitress. My first time there and I would return. Cannot fault it.
Well where do I start. We got there for our 6:30pm reservation half an hour early to be told that the diner was shutting at 6:30pm and wasn’t prepared to sit us to eat. When I explained that we had booked our table we were told that there was a problem with their system. I think this is disgusting as we had booked and travelled 45 minutes to eat as that is our nearest establishment to where we live. My partner loves the food and milkshakes there and it was for his birthday as we then had to chose somewhere else to eat. Also never going to book through the open table app again as this is the latest time you offered us.
3* as we arriver at 6.30 when our table was booked for. Looked at like I was crazy when I said I had booked. told last orders were at 6.30 so order almost immediately. my 7 year old finished eating and before 7pm we asked if my daughter could have a kids brownie (no adult puddings) we were told no as last orders were at 6.30. it doesnt take much to stick a brownie in the microwave or offer her some ice cream instead. what kid goes out for dinner and doesnt have pudding! poor service
I was bitterly disappointed by Eds diner.
The venue felt tired and grubby. The toilets were dirty....
The food was expensive for the quality of food served. £15 for a main course. The coleslaw was awful, the onion rings flabby not crisp.
I will not be returning and l would not recommend it.....
Booked a table but when arrived it isn't be reserved. Portion of food very small. No beans for the kid and they charge full price.
