We went for breakfast and there was really no one there. I guess this is a good place for dinner. Overall, nice place and food. Sad they didn’t have mimosas.

Excellent for a pre -Lincoln Center performance cocktail and light meal.
The lobster roll hits the spot. It is actually a very refreshing pre concert bite. The raw bar sampler is a must it has succulent oysters/ clams/ and chilled cooked lobster/muscles and shrimp.
Signature cocktails are creative .

The service was off. It felt like they were inattentive and pushing us out even though we were seated at 730 and told them not to rush. When we. complained the manager could not have handled it better. This clearly had the desired effect and as a result I will recommend it

The special was a lobster bake but the lobster was over cooked. Also the lobster roll was very small!

We've eaten here before but this time was a real disappointment. The service was actually non-existent - our meal of three courses took 2-1/2 hours to serve. Waiters had to be waved over, food was brought to our table and literally almost thrown across the table. I ordered salmon medium-rare - it arrived well-done. The topper was at the end, when the birthday surprise we'd requested also arrived at the table late. For the price (over $500 for 7, including tip), this experience can only be called 'bad.'

Excellent as always. Ed's Chowder house is a local favorite. All of the entries are outstanding and the atmosphere is excellent for a pleasant dinner with family or friends.

A very nice dining experience. Very surprised that we were the only two people dining in the dining area. A few people at the bar, but other than that, it was quiet. It was nice to not have to compete with other people's conversations.

We had a great time last Saturday at the restaurant. The food was excellent-Skuna Bay Salmon and New England Clam Chowder.Since it was my birthday they brought out an outrageous cheesecake with blueberries with a candle in it.Lovely!
The service was great. The waiter was very attentive.
Of course, the ambiance is relaxing and pleasant.
My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time and told all our friends to pay a visit, too.

Perfect location next to LIncoln Center, a wide variety of food mostly but not all seafood, interesting twists on the dishes. I had scallop ravioli. Very attentive staff.

We've been dining at Ed's Chowder House for years and last Saturday night was exceptional. Why? Because of the service. Over the years the atmosphere has changed, and a time or two we were not as happy as previous visits, but Saturday night confirmed our love for this restaurant.

A few notes:
* if you're looking for a place to eat pre-theater, we have found that Ed's Chowder House isn't such a scene and you may be able to sit in the bar area (where there are several tables) and get a quick bite.
* we always eat seafood so can't speak to other menu items, as we find the seafood to be very good.
* after 8p (I think all nights but you should confirm) they have many bottles of wine for 1/2 price, and they have a great selection.

We used to live just a few blocks away, now live a little further uptown, and always look forward to a dinner/drinks here.

We had a very nice dinner at Ed's Chowder House before going to a Mostly Mozart concert. I ordered the Restaurant Week menu. I started with a crab cake, which was delicious. For my main course I had the skuna salmon a la plancha. For dessert, I chose the chocolate one. My friend was not as hungry and chose to order just a main course. I forgot what she ate, but we were both very happy with our meals.

We always enjoy eating at Ed's Chowder House. The front of the house staff always cheerfully greets us, our servers (ask for Sarwar or Bryan) are always helpful and make sure we are well taken care of, and the food is always to our liking. Tonight we started with our favorites - the scallop ravioli and the smoked cod cakes - and had the Chatham cod and the salmon as our mains. The salmon is accompanied by an excellent caponata. We ended with a shared chocolate tart with coffee ice cream. A most enjoyable dinner pre-Lincoln Center.

Excellent food and service. The seafood platter was perfect for a relatively light pre-concert meal. Also, substantial discount to NY Philharmonic subscribers doesn't hurt.

The New York-styled cheesecake was one of the best desserts we've ever had!
A beautiful place for a quiet romantic dinner or a night with family & friends. The prices are a little above average.

Nice vibe, good food, but the service was a big disappointment. The servers were very nice, but the service was terrible, inattentive and visits to the table were infrequent, we had to call over whatever server we could as they were passing by. The bread basket was fabulous, drinks tasty, and the dinner was good, not great. Given the price point, I would have expected better service...

Eds is ok but not special. My oysters were average and did not taste fresh enough. The lobster was great and the beet salad was nice. There is a weird musty smell in the place as you walk up the stairs in the entry. Gets a bit loud until all the guests leave to go to LincolnCenter.

I went with a colleague from work because it was restaurant week and they had a nice menu offering. The food was fantastic, the server was very attentive (sometimes you don't get that kind of service for restaurant week in NY) but they were extremely professional. I will use this restaurant for business meetings in the future.

My experience was terrible. It was 95 degrees outside, and the air conditioning in the restaurant was barely noticeable. When I asked the manager to make it cooler, he said that this was the coolest they can make it.
Also, I asked the bartender to make me a cocktail omitting one of the ingredients (pressecco), and he refused.
My guest and I walked out, and we found a much cooler restaurant (BarBoulud) just one block away, and the service was very accommodating. No need to go to Ed'S Chowder House since there are many more accommodating restaurants nearby for the same price, and much better service!!

This is a great restaurant if you are in the Lincoln Center area. We went for a pre theater dinner. The restaurant is on the 2nd floor of the empire Hotel, right across the street from Lincoln Center. It's handicapped accessible, with an elevator.

For appetizers we shared fried calamari and a salad with blue cheese dressing. Also had cod cakes. All were delicious. For entrees we enjoyed linguini with white sauce and seafood, chicken, skate, and an entree size scallop ravioli. For dessert we shared a banana cream pie. All were fabulous. Brian was a terrific server. Highly recommend the restaurant!

It was a hot evening and the AC was not up to the task. The bench seat cushions were worn and scraped; the tabletops had the finish scraped off in places, too, so the overall impression was that the place was down at the heels. Of all the fish choices, only one was wild caught. The salmon was well cooked and tasty; the ratatouille around it unaccountably had something like burnt croutons mixed in with it. Wait staff was lackluster and there were not many customers when we first arrived, so it could not have been because they were busy. Hostess was rather churlish. I would not recommend or return.

Much too expensive for the quality or quantity of food. New England clam chowder was probably the worst I have ever had. No better than the poor kind at Panera Bread. Progresso canned is better. Much inferior to that available at ordinary sea food restaurants throughout New England coastal towns. Tuna steak was good, but presented with what appeared to be a medium order of McDonalds French fries.
Cocktails were ordinary.
Doesn't live up to the hype.

I used to go here a few years ago after seeing anything at Lincoln Center. It was very consistent and the seafood was fresh and always well prepared. I don't know if it was an off night, but it was half empty and the service was very spotty. The food was ... fine. Nothing to rave about. Some of the dishes were delivered in a strange order (some starters came by themselves and some with the mains), and the whole experience was a bit off. A shame, I remember it being a rock solid place.

The ousters were too warm and guests are not allowed to choose which type of oysters they like. They came in preset 4 kinds when I ordered a dozen. It was quite a turn off because we only like one kind, not other 3. So it was a waste.

The experience at Ed's was a very positive one. There were multiple options on the menu for my dining companion, who has limited possibilities for what she can eat.
The service was excellent, very responsive and prompt.
My scallops were done perfectly- not overly or under cooked, which can be challenging.
