So sorry to hear of its closing. Hopefully it will find new space and re-open in the neighborhood. What a loss!
Good. Love using when go to Lincoln Center
Went to Ed's Chowder House for a pre-theater dinner but didn't go with a set menu. I liked the seating and service, it wasn't too noisy even though the tables are quite close to each other. We had salmon and tuna steak, both were delicious. The portions are not huge but quite enough, even without the salad. And we had some room left for dessert - apple cobbler was a great finish touch. This was our second visit with the same conclusion - will come again.
It has an excellent selection of seafood that other neighboring restaurants lack
Sadly we were told that this restaurant is CLOSING by 1/31/18
It has been one of our goto restaurants for pre-Lincoln Center Perfomances
Sorry to see them go - waiting to see if anyone will take the space.
When the hostess seated us, I asked for a table for two. There were three tables for three at the end of sections. I asked for one of those tables. The hostess said she could not seat us there because we were only two and the table was set for three. Within 10 minutes after we were seated the hostess seated three couples male and female at those tables . Did the hostess ignore our request because we were two women? Was she discriminating? I was very disturbed by her behavior. upon leaving I mentioned this to the hostess and she was exceedingly rude. Her rudeness and her failure to seat us when we asked to be seated ruined the entire evening. The manager was no better. He eventually apologized but that was on our way out. I will have to think twice before returning to your restaurant.
Something seemed quite off when we arrived: not a welcoming reception as usual, only regular menus not the fixed price ones without asking, slow service, terrible Brussel sprouts (over cooked and probably reheated from earlier cooking), 2 undercooked salmon that had to be sent back. We found out that the restaurant is closing at the end of the week, so that would account for the gloomy atmosphere and lack of attention. That is a shame, because previously we have enjoyed the meals here.
Wines by the glass need some work.
Sad to see Ed's close. Have enjoyed having this neighborhood place the past years.
Arrived and checked in 20 minutes before reservation. Bar service was excellent. No one came to get us so went back to hostess who, despite Open Table reservation and check in, had wait-listed us.
Decor shows wear and tear. Banquettes looked dirty and were missing ornamental buttons in places.
Lobster bisque was superb. Bread basket was inspired variety. Rest was adequate with smallish portions for the cost. Beer was served in a can and bottle without glasses. Had to ask for them had to ask for water and refills several times. For the money, there is better, in the same hotel.
