Staff was very accommodating, waitress went above and beyond. Food mediocre, way over priced. Service quick if you're going to Lincoln Center.

My wife and I made reservations to this restaurant before attending a show at Carnegie Hall. The food was great and the waiter was phenomenal as he constantly checked on us, and other tables he waited on! I highly recommend this restaurant to others!

On a cold, snowy night we were happily dining on delicious food in a cozy, friendly spot that was not too noisy. A perfect spot for pre-Lincoln Center dining.

Touristy, loud, disorganized. Great view of Lincoln Center. Perfect for out-of-towners. Shortage of martini glasses as bar, so bring your own, or volunteer to wash dishes.

Ed’s was certainly a pleasant surprise for us... It is unassuming from street level; we walked by it a number of times without being drawn in for a meal.

However, life being what it is, I was seriously remiss at making a dinner reservation before last night’s performance at Lincoln Center (mere steps away) and only Ed’s had availability, so we took it.

Staff was absolutely wonderful... friendly, competent, committed to great customer service. Wine list was well mixed and not overblown in price... We had scallops ravioli, clam chowder, fluke and salmon. All tasty and nicely presented.

The seating was well spaced but not voluminous, so the room had a cozy to it; while the noise level was boisterous, it was not deafening.

Will have to let you know about desserts during our next trip back....

No time for dessert,

Have eaten here many times but will never go back. Stay was told we have a 7 pm curtain at Lincoln Center. We sat down at 5:30 and ordered a bottle of wine. It took them 20 minutes to finally come back to the table and tell us they no longer had that wine. We ordered another bottle, and this time it took 10 minutes to tell us the same thing. We then ordered a third bottle which finally arrived. We were not served our main courses until 10 minutes before we had to leave. The restaurant was not full. The service was so bad that you can no longer count on being out in time for a performance. The food is ok- not terrible, not great, but pricey due to location. All in all, not worth it for a later dinner, and dangerous as pre-theater.

Food was good. Wait service very competent. It was crowded and noisy at 530 (pre-concert) but there were plenty of open tables. That is why I truly did not appreciate the attempt to seat us in the very noisy and crowded bar area on raised bar type seats, and where there were drafts from a doorway. I declined that. It never should have happened. Others had the same thing happen (they ended up seated next to us in the main area). The bar crowd was much younger than we and it was inappropriate to try to seat two seniors in that area.

We've eaten at Ed's Chowder House many times when we attend a performance at Lincoln Center. Apart from the convenience of its location, we really appreciate the staff, especially our go-to server, Sarwahr. Always helpful, remembers us and our food preferences, and sees to it that our order is handled promptly. We also really like the food choices. The scallop raviolis and the crabcakes are favorite appetizers, and the salmon (with newly-added eggplant caponata) and cod are always well prepared. The atmosphere is great, too. Crowded, but not noisy, reflecting that diners are having a good time and enjoying their meals.

Very disappointing-Second time we got seated at a high table in the bar in front of a constantly opening door-Complained and got moved to the VERY LAST TABLE in the back of the dining room infant of the curtain that is pulled for a private party-It was a most unpleasant experience-I will not return!

Perfect place for pre-Lincoln Center dinner. The wait staff is careful to time your meal with your specific curtain in mind.
The chef might mix it up a little bit and not have the prix fixe dinner always the same.

On our way to Lincoln Center. Hard to get service attention. Oysters and bisque good. Main course heavily peppery, couldn’t eat. No one even inquired. Dinner for 2, one desert and no alcohol $170 with tip. Won’t return.

Do not make a reservation for 7pm and expect it to be honored. Place was packed and the bar area, where one usually has a drink while waiting to be served, was full of people being served dinner. Waited a half hour for a table. Clearly they don’t manage their seating. Hostess was not pleasant although another more senior person tried to explain away the problem. The good news is that the food was delicious.
This is the second time we went through this and since there is no shortage of restaurants in the area I doubt we will be back any time soon——and we live across the street!

The night went well, we were ushered in promptly and attended to by Cheyenne graciously.
Price fixed menus are a little less expensive but still ran above average. The appetizers were delicious, I had the NE clam chowder and Penne with Manila clams for the main course. There were 4 choices with dinner, all were presented and tasted well.

We enjoyed our visit to Ed's Chowder House. We had the fluke and the tuna, and both were excellently prepared. This followed a salad and a vegetarian chowder, both very good. Vegetables were also excellent, and the wine lists are nice as well. The quality of the food and the great location near Lincoln Center make Ed's Chowder House a great find.

Third time here -- and absolute last. The reservation desk was a catastrophe, as always, the receptionist rude. People ganged up on the stairs while the receptionist tried to sort things out. We were herded in and out like at a cafeteria, and the food was no better. The lobster roll I ordered at $29 was in a top-split hot dog roll with a small amount of lobster perched on top for show, the rest of the roll was empty. The by-the-glass wines were generic at premium wine prices. The server was indifferent, refusing to recommend favorite dishes. "Everything's good" -- the worst kind of advice. Never again.

Good food, as usual. Seafood platter and lobster roll were great. Server knew it was my husband's birthday and so brought him a dessert on the house (we had already ordered dessert, but my husband loves desserts so that was ok). Only disappointment was the chocolate pudding that we were really looking forward to - its not nearly as good as it used to be. Not as chocolaty and not as thick. We couldn't eat it. The banana cream pie our server brought saved the day - it was great. Really miss the good old chocolate pudding, tho!! :(

It was a very busy Saturday night and many of the patrons had tickets to 8 PM shows at Lincoln Center. While the wait staff was attentive, the kitchen was very slow. Our reservation was at 6 and our entree was served at 7:20. Then there was a mistake on our check ( double charged for an entree) and we had to leave to avoid being closed out of our seats at the opera. The manager, Mazin, was very gracious and allowed us to return at our show's intermission to settle the bill. Overall this was a very stressful situation and I might not consider dining here until after a performance.

On the occasion of my wife's 60th birthday, I made a reservation through OpenTable for a 6:30 dinner, to be followed by an 8:00 performance at Lincoln Center. When we arrived at the restaurant, I advised our waiter that we needed to be out for an 8:00 curtain. Our appetizers arrived quickly, but our entrees were still not out at 7:30. I asked to see the manager, but he did not appear. The waiter brought a check with our entrees, including charges for the desserts that had not yet been delivered. When the manager did arrive, it was only to take my credit card and rush out the desserts we had no time to eat.

My reservation noted that this was a birthday dinner. Ed's Chowder House didn't just ignore the occasion; they spoiled it.

Place is good for pre Lincoln center events.
It needs a little touch up.
Some of The glass balls at entrance are broken. Candle holders in a back are molten. Back room needs some touches up. It seemed luke it was in operation without remodeling for quite awhile. But it is quiet.
Front is fancy and more loud. During rush hour not enough of staff members but eventually you'll be taken care of nicely and courteousmy. Food is good. My mom liked salmon. I was ok with scallops. Price. Not every day dining but priced for occasion.

Very classy, without being pretentious; attentive service, without imposition; delicious clam chowder, with a rich broth, hearty flavor, tender clams well balanced with potatoes and celery; outstanding crab cakes, very flavorful without being overwhelmed by anything but true CRAB; just to offer the highlights.
No complaints, pure pleasure, from start to finish, accented by polite, attentive and handsome staff.

I chose the restaurant because it was close to my hotel - I was looking for a relaxed meal after a long day of travel. It was a fantastic experience. The service was outstanding - my server respected my wish to enjoy a leisurely paced meal even though most of her customers were hurrying to the theater. The food was hot and tasty and the portions were perfect. The clams were fresh, the chowder was delicious, and the fried crab salad greens were fresh, the clams plentiful ( the dressing was amazing).

The food was not good. The clam chowder poor. Grilled shrimp were far from “jumbo” as stated on the menu and served on a plate with wilted/dead greens....it looked like a joke and I was on candid camera!!!!!!! Service was not great either. Bread came with the entree instead of with the appetizers. Also, my mixed green salad greens were not fresh!!!
When I made the reservation I stated that we were celebrating two birthdays....there was no response to that.
