I chose the restaurant because it was close to my hotel - I was looking for a relaxed meal after a long day of travel. It was a fantastic experience. The service was outstanding - my server respected my wish to enjoy a leisurely paced meal even though most of her customers were hurrying to the theater. The food was hot and tasty and the portions were perfect. The clams were fresh, the chowder was delicious, and the fried crab salad greens were fresh, the clams plentiful ( the dressing was amazing).

The food was not good. The clam chowder poor. Grilled shrimp were far from “jumbo” as stated on the menu and served on a plate with wilted/dead greens....it looked like a joke and I was on candid camera!!!!!!! Service was not great either. Bread came with the entree instead of with the appetizers. Also, my mixed green salad greens were not fresh!!!
When I made the reservation I stated that we were celebrating two birthdays....there was no response to that.

Great spot for pre-Lincoln Center dining. They get you out in time for your curtain without making you feel rushed. Menu is quite varied but the "Simple Mains" are delicious.

We were there pre-theater and we had a great dinner but with sensitivity to our time requirements.

I thought the food was extremely mediocre. The tuna steak I had was average at best, and the fries were lukewarm. This place costs too much for the quality.

We arrived to the restaurant later than expected but we were not even able to cross the door when we were informed the kitchen was closed.

We always enjoy dining here. They always oblige our request for a table in a quieter area and we are able to have a conversation. The service is friendly and attentive. The food is usually quite good. The lobster roll is very tasty but does not contain a very generous portion of lobster. Usually the portions of other dishes are more than adequate.

Great food & great service in a prime location just off Central Park West. The cod dish was especially tasty, as were the scallops. Generous side dishes to share, plenty of sauteed spinach on the mains, very tasty. Server Yustilka was terrific - ask for her!

I ws disappointed on this last visit. While all's well that ends well, we had a few bumps. The waiter was snippy, and the soup was served cold. The restaurant replaced the soup and another server provided some joviality which dispelled our waiter's original attitude.
I will try the restaurant again...

Great seafood and fish; reasonably price wines by the glass--good selection AND ADEQUATE pour--a lot of restaurants are very niggardly on the pour--should be 5 or 6 ounces

There is one word to describe the oysters at Ed's Chowder House: Fabulous! Served ice cold, with both cocktail and mignonette sauce and generous wedges of lemon. At least four varieties daily. Main course fish entrees are beautifully prepared and tasty. It is just a hop across the street to Lincoln Center but take note: Even going for the moderately priced pre-fixe dinner, when you add a nice bottle of wine to that, expect to pay $200 for two.

The food at this restaurant is really good.
However, I have had dinner and lunch at this restaurant many times over the last 5 years and this past Saturday was one of the noisiest visits ever. I was so annoyed at the level of noise I almost walked out. Between the music playing so loudly, the din of the chatter amongst guests it was stressful to sit through the dinner having to ask my dinner companions to repeat their conversation over and over throughout the meal. It is always noisy but Saturday was beyond acceptable.

They serve such wonderful seafood. Tuna tartare and mussels were outstanding. Lobster bisque was lovely. The cod was also tasty and presented beautifully. Service was very good. Our waiter was Chris. He was warm and friendly and very attentive. I would highly recommend Ed’s Chowder House for a pre or post Lincoln Center show.

The chowder sampler was very tasty, if small for its large price. My friend and I each ordered the lobster rolls - very small, no particular taste (could have used some dill and tarragon). French fries were very good, cole slaw run-of-the-mill. Totally overpriced for the size and quality. Table service was very good - our server was pleasant and attentive - thank you! $75 each (which included one cocktail and tip) was way too much money for the small meal. Wont be visiting again. Facility is very lovely and not crowded - nice feature.

We have tried many of the meals and each one of them is wonderful. They have a great wine list and a full bar! Thanks, we will be back

While out food was prepared and presented well , the quantities were ridiculously small. Unfortunately we didn’t get to sample what looked to be excellent desserts because of the slow service. We arrived early and were seated late.

Ed's is unique for location and casually elegant atmosphere. But can you believe they did not have red Manhattan clam chowder? - that's what we went for. And food, while tasty, was exceptionally small portions for price.

The pre-fix menu is excellent. There is much to select. The service is great. The waitress asked if I was seeing a show and she made sure that the meal came out on time so that we were able to leisurely have dinner and still make the show with plenty of time to spare. I enjoy the food and will return in the future.
