edison: food+drink lab Ratings and Reviews
This was a client / business dinner for a party of 8. Great menu and restaurant - not a great location for a business dinner. No private rooms and table is more of a "high top" bar style - not comfortable. I would recommend for personal or casual dining - but not a business meeting with large party
Food was very creative. Appetizers were the best, flavorful and creative. Atmosphere had a very good vibe to it. Local and lively...knowledgeable servers they could explain the menu and ingredients. Host was great....We had about every appetizer. The entrees not as creative had the fish good but little over cooked
They got busy as the meal progressed and seemed to get overwhelmed for a while. Bar service was very slow.
I will definitely go back....
I was in Tampa for a special occasion, and I ended picking the restaurant. I am pretty capricious about restaurants in general, but this one was very good. I tried multiple appetizers, and had barrel fish for the main course. It was superb! The wine list featured a lot of good "food" wines. We had a bottle of Priorat and Pinot Noir from Oregon. I would go there again!!!
We started with the potato crusted oysters which are often mentioned in reviews. The five oysters in the order were interesting and excellent. But vastly over priced at $18 for the five.
We also ordered a main course of steak to be served rare, and the sweet and sour soup.
Even though the room was only about 30% full, the food just didn’t seem to arrive. Other tables got served. When the food finally arrived the steak was medium plus, not rare. At a $35 price point that’s not acceptable.
The soup was strong on the sour but apparently had forgotten the sweet. It was a bitter, vinegary swill with a few pieces of fish in it.
We paid for the oysters and left.
The service was OK and it’s too bad that the food is way too expensive for mediocre minus food.
PS. If you sit in one of the booths pray that you have brought along an extra cushion or two because they’re hard as rocks
The experience was good overall. The food was great, very well thought out menu with really interesting fusions of foods that really were great. Our server was very helpful and gracious but it was very slow and felt like they forgot about us at times; water was not refilled and we had to ask for it, once food came out it was very random and no one came to check back on us and one of the dishes came out about 10 minutes after we finished all of the other plates, very frustrating.
Menu is always creative and exciting. Food preparation and presentation are top-notch. For food, I think this is the best place in Tampa -- not sure any place else comes close. Restaurant was a little loud, but we ended up seated in an alcove that was a bit quieter, so I was thankful for that. Our waitress was knowledgeable and was attentive until the end of the meal, when we wanted to pay and she was nowhere to be found. That was a problem partly because the restaurant was very cold, and my wife and I were freezing, so we wanted to leave mostly just so we could warm up. Probably not much to be done about the noise level, and anyway I suspect the noise level would not bother most people, as I am a bit more noise-sensitive than most, so probably not a problem; but the cold temperature could be fixed pretty easily I think?
A really excellent foodie destination. Prompt and courteous service, eclectic decor, good wine list and interesting cocktail list. Menu changes every day and contains lots of interesting preparations. Value for money is excellent. Lunch sandwiches are varied, prepared and presented well. Try the grilled cheese and salmon burger. They seem to be able to make ordinary ingredients shine.
Had dinner with a friend I hadn't seen in several years and had a lot of catching up to do. Requested quiet table when reserved and it was perfect. The food was amazing. The fried green tomato salad and the scallop risotto were over the top delish, with creative additions (like black garlic vinaigrette) to make the dish stand apart from any other restaurant.
We went for our anniversary and were greeted with champagne. Our server was wonderful. She made great suggestions for us, all of which were superb. The creative cocktails were wonderful. It was a bit loud/energetic. I'd recommend it, and look forward to going back again.
Perfect Date Night!
The food, service and drinks were amazing. It was one of those dining experiences where you look at the menu and there are multiple things you'd like to order, and you have a hard time deciding on just one thing. Highly recommend the cheese board to share. My date kept thanking me for choosing Edison: Food + Bar Lab... that's what a great dining experience it was.
We went here for our anniversary on a Tuesday night after work. We arrived earlier than expected and they were happy to accommodate us. My husband mentioned it was our anniversary and were given a champagin toast - a nice touch. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and attentive throughout the evening. We started with some original cocktails - pricey, but really good. Appitizers, we had ceviches - light with a little kick. I had Maine scallops for my main course - that were amazing. The risotto was so creamy and highlighted the scallops. My husband had the duck - loved it! The side of savory bread pudding was perfect. The waitress had suggested wine that's seemed like an odd pairing, but was excellent. I had the butter cake for dessert - this was the best dessert I've ever eaten! The sauce and ice cream accompaniment was awesome. The coffee was fresh and flavorful.
Wonderful evening. The waitress was awesome! Food was amazing! And for a Tuesday night, they were full when we left at 9pm. Definitely call for reservations.
