EDGE by Chef Dustin Allen Ratings and Reviews
Although the menu is small, the variety is lovely. I tried 2 of the small plates and loved them both. I believe there were only 3 or 4 main entrees but the choices were good. My husband loved his roasted chicken dish. Beers were reasonable but be ready to pay pricey wine by the glass. I liked the atmosphere and on a Thursday night the place was not full so that made the ambience quite nice. I'd definitely call it upscale and people were dressed accordingly.
Food was great however ambiance was not as good as former location. Chairs were uncomfortable, tables were too close, no ice chiller for the bottle of wine white we purchased, no plates for our appetizers. Staff seemed stressed. When I called at 4:50 to add my son to the reservation it took 3 people to help and someone in the background dropped the f bomb 3 times while I was on hold. My call was so unprofessional that I almost cancelled the reservation. Sadly my husband and I agreed as good as the food was, we won’t be back.
This was our first time at Edge and I believe they just moved to a new location. Seems like there are still some kinks to be worked out. Our server didn't seem to know the menu well. We asked several times for suggestions and did not get very knowledgeable responses. She suggested that the plates were meant to be shared, so we ordered several "small plates" to share. They were not cut into individual portions, which was awkward. She suggested we order 3 small plates to share (6 of us) and they were very small. Like one or two bites each. We eventually just ignored the suggestion about sharing and ordered our own "large plates" for dinner and they were good, but certainly not enough to share. Overall, good food, but very confusing and drawn-out experience. I believe there were only two other tables occupied in the restaurant and we were there a full two hours.
First time at Edge and Chef is fantastic! I’m very much looking forward to the move to the new location. The only reason I can’t give it a full 5star rating was the ambiance. Lighting was harsh and the room was very cold. I overlooked that but my husband did not enjoy it at all because of those two factors. The tables were too close together on the bench seating. Hopefully all these things will be worked out because the dinner was superb from beginning to end. Creative, purposely paired and unique!
We seem to get the same waitress every time we visit and she provides excellent service. This time was no exception. My favorite thing about Edge is that the menu is always changing and the dishes they create are inventive, tasty, and like nothing else you can get in Peoria. One of the better restaurants in the area for their selection of wines by the glass, if that is important to you. Also, they always have a large selection of menu items that are gluten free or are willing to alter many dishes to accommodate my allergy.
Edge with chef Dustin Allen was amazing food. Chef Dustin was our host as well as our chef for the afternoon and every course came with a wonderful story. Every course was delicious and magical. I highly recommend this restaurant and will be coming back myself many times.
My wife and I stopped for dinner at Edge on Friday, August 4th. It was our first visit. I typically don't write reviews, but I feel compelled this time. My pork chop was not edible. It was entirely grisly and fatty without a single decent bite. The chef had to have known that before cooking it. In addition, my wife's simple, small cranberry and vodka drink was $13. There are too many good restaurants in the Peoria area to give this one a second chance. It was not good and was very overpriced. We won't be back.
This restaurant is a true gem. This is the third time we've eaten there, and each time the food is just spectacular. From the very first moment you're seated, the staff is there to serve you. The drinks from the bar were really well made, and the wine (Edge) was one of the best Cabernet Sauvignons I have ever tasted. Salads were so flavorful, not just cold lettuce on a plate. The halibut was perfectly cooked as was the butter roasted beef tenderloin. Dessert was also a unique creation using grilled peaches and fresh berries with flavored whipped cream. This was a truly memorable dining experience, and we will be returning soon.
Food: Very good. Smaller portions
Ambience/Decor: Fair. Rather plain.
Cleanliness: Poor. Bathroom door was dingy. Being the first customer of the evening, you'd expect the bathroom to be clean... It wasn't. Bathroom mirror with dried water spots from the sink. Chrome faucet with buildup. Sink bowl stained. Looks like no one's bothered to even wipe it down. Makes you wonder about the kitchen...
We've been to EDGE several times now, and each time was marvelous. The food is beautifully prepared, with obvious care and thought given to the flavor pairings. The meal is always superb, and the service matches the quality of the meal. Without a doubt, this is Peoria's best dining.
Enjoyed a quiet dinner with friends. Only 4 tables served while we dined. Not a place for dinner on a budget. Expensive. Food was very good, we had the two fresh fish entrees. The wine pairings were excellent. We would recommend Edge to anyone wanting a special dining experience and willing to pay for it.
My lunch companion, who is an extremely picky diner, said her meal was the best she has ever had. The food is certainly excellent, particularly well prepared and flavored. We drove from Springfield to Peoria on business, but we will happily drive back to Peoria just to dine at Edge. Good wine list, excellent service, just an outstanding experience all around.
Dustin Allen is a genius; took my Mom out for a Mother's Day brunch and the chef did not disappoint. A wonderfully curated four-course meal for a reasonable $40/per, the ingredients were all farm-fresh, the service was immaculate and Dustin even came out and personally said hello. A warm, friendly environment will greet every patron at The Edge!
Outstanding birthday dinner! My husband had the pork chop and I had the rib eye steak, both of which were moist and tender. We loved the wine, coincidentally named "Edge", a robust Cabernet from Napa, that paired well with both entrees. We topped it off with a shared piece of the flourless chocolate cake with cream and berries. It was all delicious and just the right amount of food to satisfy the appetite and excite the taste buds. Our server, Heather, was a real pro. She was attentive, but not overly so. We travel often and eat at restaurants in many other cities. It's nice to have such a
wonderful restaurant right here in Peoria!
Some friends of my wife and I recently visited and had a good experience. The food was very good. The charred carrot first course was excellent as was the Cauliflower Salad second course. All entrees were well prepared and quite good. We didn't have room for dessert but would definitely return if in the area again.
