With a city-chic vibe, Edgar's Bistro presents a unique and innovative dining experience that nourishes the body and the soul. Since opening in Macon in 2007 and Augusta in 2012, Edgar's has trained student chefs from the culinary arts school of Helms College. Edgar's Bistro is operated by Helms College Culinary Arts students and faculty. Join us for lunch or dinner and become part of our classroom!

Excellent dining experience at Edgar’s today. The Chef’s special, which was scallops and cheddar risotto was absolutely delicious and reasonably priced at $14. Mr B was an awesome host and his staff which was comprised of culinary students were amazing. Will definitely done there again soon.

It was EXTREMELY overpriced. The service sucked. My glass was empty most of my visit and they weren’t even busy. My appetizer was cold and everything seemed as if it was preprepared in the morning and was reheated later when it was ordered. I will never dine here again.

We visited Edgar’s Bistro for Valentines Day. The set menu was good, and reasonably priced. The service was well intentioned and friendly, but thoroughly inexperienced.

Celebrating the life of my 80 year old husband had to be extra special. That is why we came to Edgar’s Bistro.

The atmosphere was quiet with music playing softly; the food was deliciously prepared to perfection; and the service was impeccable. “Mr. B” knows how to make guests feel welcome.

My first thought was the turkey sandwich and fries was a definite hit with me. Everything was well seasoned and the server was an amazingly kind gentleman. I came to Edgar's Bistro for a lunch meeting where I needed to be able to sit comfortably with my colleague to discuss business. I was able to do that with ease here. Though the servers/attendants were all being taught how their interactions were to go, nothing felt out of place or intrusive. Great experience and I will definitely visit again.

If you are training your students for an elegant restaurant, many changes need to happen. Edgar's
could be the most talked about in Georgia. People would not mind the prices. There needs to be 1 special room that is elegant and sparkily for special ocassions. The women would love to have dinner in that room. Then another small, elegant room would be added.That would give you 2 rooms for training your students on different levels of knowledge.Everyone would love to work in the Elegant room. The elegant room would put the napkin in your lap for you like Natalies did. They also whipped the crumbs off the table with a brush and tray.They pulled out the chair for the lady. I only went 1 time but I learned a lot about what fine dining should be. I have many ideas Like the couples picture being made and the couple takes it home with them. I had a friend with a little girl age 4 and a son 6. They asked me if I knew of a place where they could dress up in evening dresses and suits .The people are waiting.

Have already mentioned my FABULOUS experience to many people. The food was the best I've had in a long time. Would recommend over Natalias, Downtown Grill, Marcos... Wait service was perfect.

It was Easter brunch and we had a delightful time. My only complaint was not having our plates bussed as quickly as I would have liked, but overall everyone was really nice and helpful. The kids and I decided we want to become regulars!

Awesome as always. Easter buffet with 2 carving stations, complete brunch spread of choices, 8 divine desserts, custom omelets, bottomless mimosas! Wonderful meal and no dirty dishes.

Service was slow. There were many specials, but they were not printed on a menu so it was hard to order. Once I ordered, I was told they had run out of food... at 7:30...
My food was bland. Nothing special about this place. I was expecting so much more.

The shrimp appetizer was delicious. We each ordered a different dish. The bass I had was good but a little fishy tasting. It was served with delicious sliced sweet potatoes. One friend had a trout special that she liked, another had mango chicken with coconut rice and said it was good and the other very much enjoyed her shrimp and grits. There was a musician playing and singing. This place is a training facility for students entering the food industry and it can be a bit quirky. We all enjoyed the waitstaff and found them to be sincere and enthusiastic. One young woman was to graduate soon and had plans to open her own restaurant. She told us about the building and her plans—easy to feel excitement alongside her. There was a man with an accent who stopped by our table multiple times with corny jokes. All in all it was a fun dinner. The portions are large and the prices are good. I always feel like I am doing a good thing when I dine here—so go and help a student hone their skills!

We were on the way home to Chicago and found this culinary delight outside of Macon GA. The food, service, craft beer was impeccable. It was close to the interstate and truly a gem.

I'm a big fan of the restaurant and have eaten there several times over the years. This was my first valentine's dinner there & it was an underwhelming disappointment. For the price of $80 we both had a small salad, an entree apiece, & a dessert sampler. Horrible menu & good for the bucks. Can honestly say I would've been better at Longhorns. I will be back at some point & hope that was an anomaly & not the new norm!

I love the concept of Edgar's Bistro, pairing with the culinary school. The atmosphere is inviting and romantic, great for Valentine's Day dinner! We had a wine pairing with each course, starting out with cherry glazed duck salad with balsamic vinegar dressing that paired perfectly with the suggested wine. I had the red snapper which was light, perfectly breaded and fried, with risotto and green beans, and my wife had the chicken normandy, loving the sauce and scalloped potatoes and green beans that accompanied the chicken. The fish was paired with a medium, crisp sauvignon blanc and the chicken dish was paired with a hearty pinot noir, and both went perfectly with the dishes. Everything was delicious, right down to the dessert trio paired with a delicious mascato. The staff provided excellent service and were very attentive and accommodating. We will definitely revisit and support the culinary students as they complete their education while working in conjunction with Edgar's Bistro! Job well done!

Excellent range of food options; very creative blends and excellent quality and quantity. A very good value proposition. Alcohol selection is limited and less stellar than the food. Location is off the beaten path but worth the drive.

Delicious food, outstanding service and great prices. I'm glad it's off the beaten path so you don't have long waits or have to dine in an overly crowded restaurant. The online reservation system is ideal. My husband and I really enjoyed our dining experience and plan to return soon.

We were delighted with the outstaning service and excellet food. The wait staff were exceptional and very friendly. It was delightful dinner and a place we highly recommend. Good menu selection and okay on wine choices. Price is very reasonable for great quality and service. We recommend you try it!
