Edendale is a full-service restaurant, bar and event space offering primarily American cuisine. Chef Paul Downer created a menu that focuses on comfort food from various regions of the United States including California, New England and the South. Edendale is constructed in what was originally Los Angelos Fire Station 26 all the way back in 1924. Many silent film studios were housed nearby during that time, and it has several photographs on the wall commemorating that period of American cinema.
The menu has a little bit for everybody depending on your preference. Edendale's specials include a braised oxtail, roasted tomato linguine and Patagonia toothfish to name a few. The bar has a wide selection of craft beer, premium spirits and fine wines for diners to pair with their meal. Visit on the weekends for a brunch menu with plenty of specials on mimosas and Bloody Marys.

Edendale Ratings and Reviews
Not only was the service wonderful but the food was delicious. I celebrated my bday there for Sunday brunch. For a party of 15 everyone was satisfied with their dish. I had the shrimp and grits which was flavorful. Other people go the chicken and waffles, breakfast sandwich and a fancy salad. The plated presentation was also nice. Def going again, I want to try their dinner next time.
Located in an historical re-purposed firehouse in a difficult to find Silverlake/EchoPark location (my date got lost, stopped at a police station, and got wrong directions to the address), the food is quite good, especially for the price. Lovely outdoor area, inside rambles, several rooms. Inside, the music and noise in general was too loud (but, I am 65), but outside was great. Service was enthusiastic and efficient. The beet salad was terrific and the pork chop was quite good. I did not have desert. The wine list is shockingly affordable (I pay more for bottles of wine at discount than the most expensive bottle I saw on the menu).
The food was very delicious. There were four of us so we each had something different and everything was good. The wine list is very different and we were very happy with the bottle we chose. Beautiful setting on a busy street. Sat outside and it was lovely. Valet parking is $5.50 but very easy that way. It was truly a wonderful evening.
Turning a former firehouse into a beautiful restaurant is an excellent example of adaptive reuse. A very "green" concept. The food was great. I recommend the stonefruit and serrano ham salad. Our server, Jaqueline really made our experience wonderful. She was funny and entertaining and kept a smile on our faces. She was also efficient and did her job well.
I enjoy the variety of influences on their menu; it's American fusion, with elements of Mexican and Asian flavors. We opted to sit outside, which features some noise from the street, but after 8PM it's minimized. The interior is welcoming, but the outside just feels better. We began with the jicama/stonefruit/goat cheese salad (recommended by server due to lactose intolerance) and the Tomatillo Pork Confit (with cheese on the side)--they were both very refreshing and flavorful without saltiness. Then we had the Vol-au-Vent, which tastes like a porky Thanksgiving dinner on a puff-pastry muffin and the Tuna Tartare. The fish is okay, but the green tea noodles are very clean in flavor--I would eat them w/o fish any day. No Dessert today :(
Loved everything about this place except that you have to walk through the very crowded hipster filled bar area which takes up the entire back of the restaurant to get to the bathroom which itself leaves a lot to be desired. The bar area wreaks as well, don't know if they were having plumbing problems the night we went but it was a very unpleasant experience. The front was perfect, beautiful, quiet, and smelled only like delicious food and wine so as long as you stay up there and don't need to use the restroom your night will remain unscathed! However if a jumping bar scene is what you're looking for you've found it here in the back. It was packed!
-Food was good but for portions are a bit small for the price range
- street parking was easy
- patio was good size but no real view of anything / no real atmosphere
- 7:30 dinner for 6 with 2 kids ...by 10:30 everyone was antsy waiting on waitress for the check - took way too long to get the check ...
Eating out front on the patio was very enjoyable on a summer evening and the food was delicious! The waiter was very attentive at first but once we received our food we didn't see her until she brought the bill, even though we were interested in another drink and desert. Overall, good experience at Edendale.
Edendale Grill and the attached Mixville bar, is a place I highly recommend. The outdoor patio is so pleasant, as is the dining room. This former firehouse converted into this combo, hits the mark on many levels. The bar has a sophisticated, yet casual vibe, with an art-deco style to it. and a rear patio, great for group gatherings and smokers. The food is generally good, the atmosphere and feel of the place are way above average. One of my favorite Silverlake spots
One of the things I love about Silverlake is all the fabulous little eateries around the neighborhood. This is one of Silverlake's gems. Every trip to The Edendale is a delicious and delightful experience. This time around I tried their Vol-au-Vent. Puff pastry filled with tender beef short rib, pasta, mushrooms, peas, shallots, balsamic caramelized onions, with a dijon-worcestershire glaze, and a cream/butter whip. Our server called it "Heaven on a plate" and she did not lie. The Edendale is established in a former fire house. Great ambience and friendly staff. A Silverlake treasure to be sure. Yes.... I really like the place :-)
The calamari was the toughest I've eaten at any restaurant. My girlfriends beet salad was edible but oddly constructed. The shrimp and polenta, which is apparently a signature dish, was mediocre at best. The shrimp were overcooked, the polenta was hard and the sauce was underwhelming. My girlfriend didn't even eat her tacos they were so bad. There are so many amazing restaurants in LA why waste your time on this one?
The location and building of Edendale are both interesting and it may have it's act together better in the evening scene. We went with our son and his girlfriend (on his recommendation) for a late Sunday brunch. It was next to empty at 2:00 p.m and the staff seemed to be napping but eventually they came around and took our orders from a limited and not very interesting brunch menu. The food was OK but nothing to get excited about. On the other hand, the prices were reasonable. I would have been willing to pay more, however, in this location if the food was a bit more exciting and with more variety.
I love this place. The food is great, the location adorable, and the servers are very sweet. The cocktails are yummy! Just beware that if you sit on the wooden bench in the front patio area, your clothing may suffer. It needs to be sanded BADLY -- I snagged my dress in two places. :-(
I should have mentioned it to the server but I really didn't want to dampen our evening.
The food selection is interesting, very American New. My only complaint was service was a bit slow. It seemed like it took a solid amount of time before the food came out. It also took awhile to get our check. The outdoor patio is great though. They had heat lamps available and the water fountain in the front created a great atmosphere.
We came here for my husband's birthday and had a great experience. Our server was amazing and all of the bussers and other servers we came in contact with were so friendly. The food was great, though they don't have a very large selection. They have a great wine list with plenty of reasonably priced options. I think we've found our new special occasion spot.
Was going to the Echo Theater and needed a good place to eat beforehand. What a great find. Great cocktails and yummy food. The small plate shrimp in adobo sauce on a bed of polenta was not so small. The hangar stead delicious and the bread pudding with vanilla ice cream just made us all smile.
Met my friend's for dinner. It was difficult to find as I am not from the area. Former firehouse. Get interior with many, many rooms. Food was good, not great. My salad dressing had no flavor at all. Beet salad with wasabi looked and tasted great. Friends had puff pastry with braised shortribs in it. Said it was very good. I tasted and thought it rated a good. Big selection from appetizers, to small plates, hamburger, salads, main courses. Bread pudding was outstanding. Peanut butter/chocolate dessert was way to rich. Just one bite could do you in.
After dealing with the busy traffic on Rowena, I wasn't in the best mindset walking into Edendale. No matter - the host was so welcoming and genuine that I immediately began to relax. Nice cozy table, and our server was perfect, didn't rush or ignore us, made suggestions. The short rib salad is actually a salad - didn't think that was possible - with perfectly spiced short rib under the greens. Wine list was well priced, and cocktails were creative. We were a bit disappointed by the pork tacos, not enough spice on the meat itself, but our server was happy to bring us sriracha when we asked. Make sure you have dessert - the bread pudding is beyond amazing!
You couldn't find more gracious and generous service anywhere! And the food is delicious. My menu faves are the Fried Calamari (quite possibly the tastiest anywhere), and the Salmon. Not fancy decor, but nice, comfy atmosphere. Business was booming every time I've been there -- for good reason, I'd say.
