Place has potential, but it's either meals under $12 or over $25 for entrees. It's good, but it wouldn't be my first choice.
Going away dinner w friends.
What a lovely find! The restaurant is conveniently located in downtown St. Charles and overlooks the Fox River. My husband and I shared the combo platter with chicken and steak. It was served with rice and a variety of sauces that were heavenly. Loved the string quartet as well. We will absolutely plan to go back soon.
The server raved how they rated top restaurant in the state for their style of food. So we went in with high expectations
I had the kabobs which were ok but lacked flavor. My wife had chicken schwarma which was dry and tasteless. The sever didn’t pick up on the fact that we didn’t eat the majority of them and offer to take it off the bill. The spanakopita was good but not 11.00 appetizer. I would not go back there
We were seated right on time, outside on the river as requested. Our server promptly took our drink order and asked if it was our first time. When we said it was, she immediately recommended the appetizer sampler. It was fabulous! We also shared the kabob combo. Also spectacular. I would highly recommend this place!
Everything was amazing, and the live music was great, but it was very loud and difficult to hear over the noise. Towards the end, it was hurting my ears.
Try the lentil soup and the spanakopita for starters, the beef shish kabob was excellent.
Delicious food, wonderful wait staff, beautiful setting.
Our service was fantastic and as always the food was delicious. It was a nice quiet night dining on the river.
Amazing and delicious food. We drove an hour to get there before a show. The owner met us because he was there and was so amazing. The food was so good that we will drive out again just for the food. What a fun day
The food is really great. It seemed a bit understaffed when we were there. There were a bunch of uncleared tables that we had to wait for. The firsts drinks and order taking took about 40 minutes. It was not busy, but things still took a while. Friendly staff though
We had kids and didn’t want to be a distraction and our table had a view and we were away from others. It was fantastic
We came for dinner at 7:30 on a Friday evening. The restaurant was mostly empty, but the patio where live music was being played was full. We ordered baba ganoush, an arugula salad to share, and chicken shawarma platters. The baba ganoush and the pita bread were very good. The arugula salad never came, so we asked the server to take it off the bill. Our entrees included side dishes. We ordered french fries, soup and rice. The soup turned out to be pureed lentil soup. It had a nice texture and flavor l but seemed under seasoned. The rice had cardamom, cinnamon or something similar as a seasoning, and it wasn't a good combination. The chicken shawarma came wrapped in a flatbread which was very good. The chicken itself was not really seasoned, and instead of the cucumber, tomato and Tahini sauce that's often served with shawarma, it came with some sort of sliced pickles mixed into the chicken. The flavor was a mixture of sweet and vinegary, which was unpleasant. Neither of us finished our entrees. Food service was quick, but we didn'tsee much of the server after the food came. It may be that what we ordered was not their best dish. I don't think we would come back to try something else though.
Delicious food, great music?
The food, atmosphere (especially on the open patio facing the Fox River), and service are all great. Flavorful Middle Eastern menu includes something for everyone.
The food was excellent. But I was disappointed on the music. They played for 1 hour , returned played for about 10 minutes and went an another break. My husband and I sat out in the patio and were going to sit inside to listen to the band but they were on break again. I would return for the food.
Not impressed... Heard so many wonderful things but our visit fell short. Cocktails were overpriced and tasted terrible. We felt like the food tasted more like Indian than Mediterranean.
Amazing food and great location right of the river in St. Charles. Highly recommend the spicy potatoes, combo skewer platter, lamb shank, and Eden burger.
Nice ambiance, good food, good service. Fun place.
The food, the water, the live music, the service; it was all wonderful! We will be back!
Friendly staff but bad service. We waited a long time for our drinks, appetizers, entrees...the bill came pretty quickly, though.
Very good beautiful music and food solid service
It was okay, the grape leaves and the falafel were fantastic the entrees nothing special, we both got kabobs, meh.
Food was great and the place looks very nice and authentic. The menu has many options to chose from. Really like this place.
Great food, attentive service. River view is great, too bad weather did not allow us to sit outside
Nice place, good food and service. Live music was nice touch but a bit too loud for dinner conversation
The spicy potato appetizer was so delicious, I could have eaten just that. For entrees, my spouse chose the ribeye & I chose chicken skewers, but requested them prepared extra spicy. The steak was good, but the skewers were outstanding. Grilled to perfection, juicy and yes, very spicy, just the way I like it. The drinks were expensive for as small and watery as they were, but we will definitely go back. Our server was also really attentive and helpful.
This was our first time there. The food was amazing. We will be back!
This is a really good spot - different from the plethora of Italian places littering the Fox Valley. The food is approachable, delicious, fresh and the chance to dine along the river is great. Well worth a visit!
Lentil soup was very thin, super purée. No lentil to be seen, no lemon on the side. Chicken kabob was good but side of rice was very dry. No pita bread served. Salad was swimming in dressing and really sweet. Dessert was cheesecake or baklava. Live music of cello player was excellent. And very entertaining. We live in an area with a large Concentration of people from the Middle East and this was a disappointment. It was not what we are used to at all.
Great food. Cool setting, right in the rivet. Beautiful chandeliers! I'll go back!
Food was excellent as usual but the service was slow. It was fairly empty when we arrived for our reservation but the service was still rather slow. With that exception, everything else was fantastic and our server was incredibly friendly. We will definitely be back!
The grill was broken so no entrees were available. Only certain appetizers were available. The soda machine was broken. We had a reservations and the hostess did not tell us of the kitchen problems till after we ordered drinks. Also, the restaurant said they called every party to make them aware of the problem but, we never received a call from the restaurant or from Open Table. I know both parties had my phone and email.
We settled on a few available appetizers. The hostess said she would take 15% off the bill. She did not follow up with the waiter and no consideration was on the bill. We were frustrated and decided let's just leave.
We should have known when we walked into an empty restaurant on a Saturday night. Not once while at the hostess station did she mention the kitchen problems.
We had visited the restaurant under the previous ownership and was extremely satisfied.
Of course we will give Eden on the River a second chance because the menu is very interesting and it has a great ambiance.
The band was good and was the only reason we stayed. Thank God the wine was available.
So, we will go back but an improvement in hospitality is badly needed. Strike One. Hopefully, a home run on the next visit because I cant wait to try the entrees.
Fox valley finally got the best restaurant and best food , must try it , worth the drive.
It was fine. The server was not very welcoming. The flatbread flavor was delicious, but not hot enough and soggy in the middle. Our meals were good although a bit pricey. My son's food took a long time to get to the table and it was taken off the bill, so that was nice. Would probably not run back here as there are other places I enjoyed more.
Live music and amazing food! Great ambiance and the pricing is modest for the generous portions. One of our favorite hot spots in St Charles.
Beautiful atmosphere with excellent friendly service and amazing food. Everything we ordered was delicious and perfectly seasoned. You can taste each and every spice. I highly recommend!
This was our second visit, with the first being absolutely wonderful. Weather was bad so it was not crowded, but service was terribly slow. We do like to dine in a European manner, slowly and enjoy conversation, but this was too slow. Took 20 minutes to get second appetizer, though it was a simply prepared one and ordered at the same time as our first. I love the way they prepare their rice, but tonight ours was very dry and not as well seasoned as previously. My husbands and my meals both seemed overly salty this time too. The ambiance is wonderful and the noise level is wonderful for conversation. The entertainment they have on weekends is fabulous and unique. First time we went we watched a Spanish guitar duet. This visit was a Spanish guitarist and flamenco dancers! Great entertainment. While we did not enjoy our meal and service this time, we will definitely be back again for a third experience and are hoping this one was an aberration.
Lovely place to have a cocktail and an appetizer sitting out on the deck overlooking the river. Had great service on a slow night. The dinners we ordered were so-so. Our chicken pita looked and tasted like a chicken burrito. Would not go back there for dinner.
Very nice atmosphere overall! I would suggest candles in the tables and bar. Food was really good as well- especially the appetizers! Two piece band that started at 8pm was excellent- my complaint would be that during the lengthy break they took, there was no other music playing. Totally killed the vibe and a few people left.
