Poor service and poor food. They were understaffed but tried but was not enough.
The experience was perfect! Not full stars for service just because they had two huge parties come in so we waited somewhat for service; but they all did the best they could. We had good German beer and pretzels which tide us over till our entrees, which all came out temp hot. 2 dishes we've had before, the Hungarian Style Goulash which was just a little salty but the meat was tender and noodles cooked perfectly. The Chicken Schnitzel was cooked to perfection with lots of flavor with Spaetzle, yum! 2 we first tried was the Leberkase with purple cabbage that blended 3 kinds of meat and presented like a meatloaf with cabbage. If you don't have texture issues, it is tasty! And the Rouladen, perfectly cooked flank type steak wrapped around bacon, onions mustard and pickles with spaetzle and cabbage. Entertainment was a lovely woman playing some traditional music, along with folks on the dance floor dancing the "chicken dance"...priceless! Have patience for service, especially if busy, for it is worth it! Just sit back and enjoy a little bit of German culture while sipping on a chosen beverage with pretzels!
Was very good ! Son in Law and daughter took us there. Felt like we were in Germany!
Great German restaurant.
I Love the Jagersnitel. I Love Helga and her guitarist. Plus they sang my favorite Freulein.
I Love the deep voice of Special singer. He was Great with Unforgettable a. ND What A Wonderful World.
Coming from St Louis we love German food and have a lot of it there. I am happy we found this spot, the wait staff is terrific and the food is spot on.
The place feels dirty and musty. The food was not very good at all. The musician was good and people, especially kids, seemed to like the dancing, so that part was fun. The cordon bleu was actually not bad, but the potato pancakes were a soggy, reheated mess, the schnitzel was barely edible and the red cabbage didn't taste like anything I've ever had in Germany. It just wasn't cooked or seasoned well. This was our second visit, after a first visit a few years ago, and we were hoping it would be better. It wasn't and we won't go back again.
Fabulous place for a special event. Tremendous customer service. Great Food
It had been several years since we had visited Edelweiss. The quality of the food and entertainment were not as good as we remembered. The best thing we had was the bratwurst and sauerkraut appetizer.
My father was in town and wanted to go here ( we used to live in the neighborhood behind the restaurant 20 years ago) for nostalgia purposes. It was just as I remembered it when he used to take us when we were kids back in the 80's. Nothing changed, including the same entertainer that's been there for decades! She was sweet and very nice to us, taking music requests to play. Our waiter was very attentive and overall friendly, and the lobster ravioli was outstanding! Overall, still a great restaurant to take your family!
Took my wife, who loves German food, for Mother’s Day. This place has been around for decades so don’t expect everything to be new and shiny. The staff is great and the food is authentic with the ambiance of Germany. We ordered several apps and entrees, all were delicious. There is a modest selection of German beer as well. Great experience overall.
We both so much enjoyed the good food, the ambiance, and the entertaining music. Our waiter was excellent. Service was outstanding. Our good Deutsch restaurant in Choctaw, OK (adjacent to OKC) just closed in the past months, and we miss eating there. Thank you so much for a good meal, good service, and good entertainment. -- Carolynne Bechler
4 Peoples ordered the same Menu. After a long wait on the main course they told us, that the Menu because of a birthday party, is no longer exists. Replacement order took a long time.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Edelweiss for my daughters birthday. Helga and the entertainment was amazing, it was delicious authentic German food and the service was outstanding. It was National pretzel day, so we enjoyed some as an appetizer, my husband had a “boot” of beer, and the jaeger schnitzel was some of the best we’ve had. Very good value for a theme restaurant. The kids loved the variety of music and danced every dance. Overall a very enjoyable experience.
Food, atmosphere and service were superb!
Not many places in Fort Worth for real German food. Edelweiss has been in business a long time, and not much has changed. It could use a facelift. The server didn't know anything about the food that was on the menu. She had to keep going to ask other employees the answers to my questions. She was nice though. And there was entertainment...it was ok. Not very many wine or beer choices...in a day and age of micro-brewery. The dress code was very lax for the price of the food. (People in T shirts, shorts and flip flops.) Fort Worth needs a "GREAT" German restaurant, but unfortunately this wasn't it. Not bad mind you, but it could have been so much better.
The food was a little bland but over all it was a great experience
I lived the ambiance of the place ! What a wonderful place to go to relax, eat, drink and enjoy the setting. There is a small dance floor where you could do a little dance step; with the entire family. The restaurant has been in the DFW area about 50 years. The area is large ,very clean and has a family feeling. The staff help make the experience comforting and soothing, as patrons fill their plates and their palates with wonderful German food.
I enjoyed a Friday night, will be returning soon!
Came to restaurant for several special occasions & when family comes to town as my brothers & I are full- blooded german. We enjoy hearing songs / music my parents talked about growing up.
I would tell a friend, only because this place is pretty fun with good music, cold beer and the pretzels are awesome! Our entrees were OK, nothing to write home about but the fun atmosphere trumps the food. Unfortunately, the service was slow, and not super friendly, we not asked if we wanted dessert at all and we had TWO BIG b-days at the table.
Excellent service and great food. Went on a Sunday so no problems with crowds.
Piano player provided the perfect ambiance.
Great music, unique atmosphere, great service and food. We will definitely be going back!
A great place to take friends and family. The lady that plays the music is great and very engaging. Lots of history ☺
I expected much more, based on the reviews I saw online. There is a lot going on decor-wise, it's almost overwhelming and old fashioned feeling, but I did love seeing all the German decorations. We lived in Germany for several years, and though the dishes were in fact authentic, they were just not prepared well. My food came out cold, and although our server was nice, there wasn't anything she seemed to know our be able to do about it other than offer to remake it and bring me a to go container for the cold one. The bratwurst was great once I got one that was hot, but the rest of the food tasted old and as though it had been microwaved. Flavor and texture were not good.
This establishment also features live music, but aside from the song "edelweiss" it was mostly oldies. Based on the website, I expected more traditional German music so I was a little disappointed on that line also.
Finally, we were a party of 4. Our bill, which included only 4 entrees and one soda, totaled almost $100. For what we got, the quality of it, and the fact that we all left still hungry (even those who ate all their food) this was very expensive.
Overall not a good experience, and when we go back to ft worth in May we will not be revisiting.
Excellent service with a wonderful piano player!
fun evening of dinner and dancing. Love the little German lady that did the music!
Second time to visit for a date night and birthday celebration for my wife. We ate, drank, and danced. Very memorable time. Looking forward to our next visit.
When planning birthday dinner, had hankering for German food. Had never been to Edelweiss. Read good reviews. Let's give it a try. Made reservations through OpenTable. Salad was watery but entree and dessert was delicious. Service was slow. I would go again just for the food.
Potato Pancakes have Nutmeg on them, an odd addition that doesn't work and I am not sure why they do this. When I prompted the server on it he admitted that most are not receptive to it. Otherwise food was pretty good.
Atmosphere was pretty good, def had a festival feel to it. Service was subpar, took over 10 min to get our drink order, though it appears they were short staffed this evening.
Having driven quite the distance to celebrate Oktoberfest it was rather Disappointing.
Family from out of town.
I wish there had been more people there, I’m afraid it’s not going to be around much longer if they can’t draw a bigger crowd on a Friday night, the ambiance feels better with a crowd. Still had fun though.
The entire staff was wonderful! Fun live entertainment, great food, super service, everything was clean, (Most importantly, the restrooms were clean. If the restrooms are clean, the kitchen is clean.) and unique atmosphere make Edelweiss a perfect place to dine for many occasions.
The sour kraut was a mush, like it had been over cooked. The schnitzel was ok seemed dry. The Hungarian goulash was to tomato pasty taste. Really dry. Overall being our first time there the scene was nice, live piano music was good, and the desserts where great! Especially the strawberry cheesecake!
This eating establishment was definitely authentic. The food is so tasty. None like I have eaten. The atmosphere was truly German.
Awesome, as usual. The atmosphere is old-classic Germany. Great place for everyday dining or taking guests. Waitstaff is fantastic.
Very nice interior. Food was excellent, and our waiter was patient while explaining all the dishes. My daughter and I had a blast dancing to the German style music. We will be going back...
Great food and atmosphere!
I love good German food and we are a little limited with restaurants here in Dallas/Ft Worth that serve this type of cuisine. The food was GREAT!!! We were a party of 5 and we all ordered different entrees and every single one was a hit!!! The portion size was also perfect. As far as the service... very accommodating. We were not hurried like sometimes you get in other places and we had a great time. The only suggestion I can leave to the restaurant is that it is time to refurbish the interior and exterior of the establishment. It may be more economical to just move to a different/better location altogether. Still had a great time. Thanks.
We went for my boyfriend’s birthday. We chose this time because we wanted to hear the live music. We had a great time! Our server was not as attentive as he could have been, but overall it was a great night!
Took reservation for Sunday, said opened Sunday, we got there and and they were closed.
