Eddie Merlot's Prime Aged Beef & Seafood - Lincolnshire Ratings and Reviews
This was our second time at the Lincolnshire location and the service both times was fantastic! The calamari appetizer was not the best as there was a lot of breading and not the best flavor, next time we will stick up the tuna tartare! Everything else was fabulous. The Yellowfin Tuna and the Sea Bass were great and good size, nice salad, tasty Brussels sprouts and best part was the free birthday(Hubby's b-day) creme brûlée! We were stuffed but wanted to lick the bowl!
Food was okay and was not served warm enough. It was Valentines Day but the dinner took over two and one half hours. Not enough attention from the server though she was nice when she did check in. An okay experience that might make for a nice dinner out on a non- holiday. Average value for the food. Too many better steakhouse options given the hour drive.
Made online reservations for Valentines day and had to wait an additional 30 minutes which fine I understand it was a busy night. The waiter was terrible. brought our meal along with bread and drinks all at the same time. then after ordering the pound of king crab legs he brought out a ball of unmelted butter thinking that was ok. the problem was they were way over booked with not enough help. very disappointing. The manager did take my crab off the bill.
I have never complained or written a bad review. Ever! But tonight was a disaster. Waitress was aloof and couldn’t handle the few tables she was caring for. Bus staff never cleared our table and never watered our glasses. We ordered appetizers and main course selection all together to help make the waitresses life easier and they brought all the food out at the same time. Not what we intended. Asked for more bread, never came. Asked for them to clear our table, never happened. Finally we got up n walked to the front in order to just pay and end this madness. Sorry guys but you need some training in food service and multi tasking. Won’t be coming back and that’s a good thing!
Dirty Knife at my table setting when I sat down. Higher end restaurants don't make this mistake, but it foreshadowed the bad buss service that was to come.
Sauce for Pork was horrible - just a very strong taste that did not pair well with the porkchops. But the porkchops themselves, along with the garlic mashed potatoes were excellent. The salmon was cooked well but they used the same sauce as the y did for the porkchops and poured it all over the salmon - which made it taste less than desirable - almost ruined the dish. The brussel sprouts had a savory taste with the onions, bacon, etc. - and were very good.
Their desserts looked amazing, but we were stuffed and couldn't even try one.
Overall I give them a C+ at best. The buss boys never filled our glasses with water and they were very slow to remove dirty plates and glasses. Our waitress - Courtney - basically had to do everything by herself and she was simply fantastic. She always made up for the lack in buss service with a smile and warm conversation. They're lucky to have her. We will go back and try dessert as long as Courtney is there to serve us.
Love the place - beautiful decor and wonderful atmosphere. Enjoyed sitting by the fire place in comfy chairs. It was my birthday, and while the card was a nice thought, a coupon for a small percentage off or free appetizer on the next visit would have been an inexpensive but nice gesture, especially considering the prices pay there! It’s a good business practice and makes the experience of a special occasion that much more special and memorable.
We’ve been here several times but we were a little disappointed this time the steaks seems smaller than they used too, but the biggest disappointment was the creamed corn. This is always been our favorite but the portion seemed a lot smaller and I just didn’t wow me tonight .
Very disappointed that we were given a table in the bar. This was my wife’s birthday and we were looking forward to a quiet relaxing dinner and instead had to look into the kitchen and face large screen tv’s showing home remodeling.
When I asked the hostess if there was anything else available all I got was a simple no. All the others rooms were booked for corporate events. It got the evening off to a really negative start. We will not be going back anytime soon.
I have dined here a few times and everything has always been great from beginning to end. The food, service, waitstaff and cleanliness of the restaurant are always very good. We had a shrimp and veal entrees this time, and everything was prepared perfectly. We ordered a side of Eddie’s potatos, but they were out of them. The manager came over, apologized, and then offered a similar dish (scalloped potatoes) at NO CHARGE. We finished up with the bananas foster desert for two, prepared tableside in a dramatic way.
My wife is gluten-free, and they always go out of their way to make sure everything she gets is safe for her. Many items are designated with a GF on the menu, but even more can be made gluten-free if you ask.
This last time was for my birthday, and they presented me a nice birthday card. This is one of our favorite places to go on special occasions or just want to treat ourselves.
Although our waitress was great, the filet for my wife (her birthday) came not cooked the way it was ordered. Sent back and came back overdone and burnt on the edges. Food of the same caliber can be obtained in the area for much less than what Eddie Merlot charges. Can't say I'd return. Ambiance excellent, food mediocre and overpriced.
Greeting upon entering the restaurant did not feel terribly welcoming, rather, very "down to business". No smile or anything from the woman who has assigning tables. Hostess who directed us to our table was nice. We were sat close to the door, and I was pretty chilly for most of the dinner, but it wasn't unbearable. Food was excellent. Very fresh and done well. Meat was just to our liking. Serving sizes were great. Sides were sharing size. Restaurant was relatively quiet, but not boring. You could hear the energetic atmosphere of the bar, which was nice, and the piano. Definitely seemed like a place people go to often. I do recommend this restaurant. I did see a couple of kids, but I wouldn't bring a toddler there.
We are regulars at this restaurant, and our New Years dinner was nothing like our usual experience here. I know it was a holiday but our service was terrible. It took 15 min for someone to take a drink order. We ordered an appetizer right away since drinks took so long. It was another 20 min to receive our shrimp cocktail that was supposed to be over dry ice, however it came out on a bed of water. It was another 20 min before they took our salad and entree order. We specifically asked for our salad to be split, it wasn’t. It took an additional 40 + minutes to get our entree (a rare tuna steak and med rare filet). The food tasted good, but the overall service really put a damper on the evening. We missed out on other plans since our dinner ended up taking over 2.5hrs... a real disappointment .
This was our first visit and it will most assuredly not be our last. The food and selection were awesome and I have absolutely no complaints and offer kudos to the chef for perfectly prepared very tasty dishes. and OMG, the Lobster Mashed Potatoes and the Crab and Corn Chowder -- WOW
We had a TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE on New Years Eve. I I knew it would be crowded, but the restaurant over booked and over whelmed the staff. We got seated 20 minutes after our reservation only after my wife went up to hostess and politely asked when we might be seated.
After our salads and soup, we waited almost 1 hour for our entrée, which never came. We were offered a desert towards the end of our wait, (big deal) and the manager promised that our food would be out in less than 5 minutes and he would bring it to us. Another misrepresentation. After 10 minutes we left the restaurant without eating our entrée to find that the valet had lost my key. WE had to take Uber home to get my spare key and then Uber back to get my car. Awful experience.
Unfortunately we were very disappointed in our meal and the service. The steaks were room temperature at best and the crab legs were dry.
We had to ask for refills for water our server never offered another glass of wine. For an upscale restaurant with upscale pricing out service and food was a disappointment. We will not be returning.
New Year’s Eve Dinner: Lamb chops were ordered medium. Came raw. Had to send back 2 times to get it right. The waitress had bad b.o. The desert was old and dry.
Not good for a high end restaurant, where we spent $250 for 2. I have to think twice before we go back
