Eddie Merlot's Prime Aged Beef & Seafood - Fort Wayne
Took my team there for a holiday dinner. Had reservations for 7:30, but first round of drinks took over 1/2 hour and dinner was 2 hrs later. The steaks were all overcooked and the ahi tuna was cooked. Very bad first impression.
I sat by myself and the stuff took great care of me. Food was perfectly cooked and seasoned well. Will definitely go back next time I am in town.
During the past 12-18 months there has been a noticeable and significant decline in overall quality of experience. Waitstaff turnover, slow meal prep, average entrees, and largely empty seating areas suggest that this otherwise excellent restaurant is facing business/management issues. Disappointed because this has been my longtime favorite steakhouse.
It was our anniversary celebration. We were greeted and congratulated right away. It was our best service EVER, with Bailey, and we could not have been happier with the food and service!
Excellent food and wine selection. Try a cup of the clam chowder, it's delicious. My wife and I enjoy the relaxed atmosphere in the lounge.
We have been coming to Eddie Merlot’s since it opened in 2001. Food and ambiance are amazing as it always has been. Service not up to par from what I have come to expect at this class of restaurant. For first time since coming, I have to question if I will return next time I am in Ft Wayne.
Loved the food, nice server, exceptional host, very nice ambiance. We asked twice for the music to be turned down but I don’t believe it ever happened. A little confused why our table was seated for 4 even though we had a reservation for 2. Would come here again though.
love the new selection of oysters! All were amazing!
Food was pretty good. Service was very good. Table/noise level were in line with expectations. It just doesn’t seem like the same as it was 5 years ago though. It’s surprising how many open tables there were for a Friday night.
We were celebrating our 21st wedding anniversary a week early, and we have done so at Eddie’s for all but 1 or 2! Our dinner was delicious! The service was outstanding! We spent between an hour and a half to two hours, very relaxed! The biggest gift of all, was when our server told us an anonymous donor had paid for our meal! What a surprise! What a very special anniversary!
Best steak ive ever had and theres always somebody looking out for you.
One of our favorite places to dine. Our long time waitperson is outstanding. Extremely knowledgeable on which wines to drink with dinner. The entire waitstaff is there to assist the customer.
Best restaurant in Fort Wayne. Hands down! From the impeccable service to the steaks that just melt in your mouth, it was an unforgettable experience!
Drinks arrived after the appetizers, salad was prepared wrong, one steak was overcooked. I mentioned in comments when making reservation that we were celebrating a birthday, no mention of that was ever brought up. They did prepare another NY strip that was then cooked to perfection, my seabass was outstanding.
Great place, food is very good and wonderful service
Was visiting Huntington from Dallas, the city Bon Apetit just named 2019’s Restaurant City of the Year. So maybe that’s made me a difficult one to please. And for the most part I was underwhelmed by most of the places I dined while visiting. However my last night in town proved to be the best at Eddie Merlot for their happy hour at the bar. Atmosphere was great... bartender (Jamie) was great... and food (wagyu cheeseburger and chips) was also great. I’ll definitely remember this place when I return next.
We decided to celebrate a birthday, use our gift certificate and try the "Meat Me at Merlot's" grilled salmon. We mentioned that to the waiter. When the waiter took the order he said "Salmon on the plank" and we agreed, not knowing this was not the "special" we had intended to order. Therefore we were surprised to pay additional money. Otherwise, excellent food!
Awesome service and setting. Our might out was wonderful!
Delicious food and excellent service made our anniversary very special!
As usual the food was outstanding! Salmon and filet were tops. Service is always top notch. First time in the bar area and really enjoyed the casual atmosphere. Highly recommend!!
As always the service is second to none! Our server Ana was so polite and welcoming! The food is always cooked to perfection and delicious.
Nicki took great care of us. We enjoyed the lobster flatbread and the E-burger. The fried artichokes were delicious!! We finished with the Vanilla Cognac Brownie.
Great service and amazing food! Will def return! Everything was exceptional
Outstanding food and service, can’t wait to return.
The food was very good. Our server, Candace, was excellent and nothing was too much trouble.
It’s a little expensive so couldn’t go too often but for a special occasion it’s worth it!
Food was good as well as the service. Very upscale dining, some small mistakes were made on the food ordered but nothing that couldn't be fixed.
The service is impeccable and the food was delicious!
Unfortunately I became ill shortly after arriving at restaurant. We requested our food to go as I didn’t want to totally ruin the purpose for special dinner. Our server was extremely nice & very caring. She made sure everything was handled as requested.
Food was excellent, our server was fantastic.
Nice to see the new Mgr, a familiar face back at Eddie's. And we enjoy always chatting with Fritz.
We came in for my birthday. We asked to sit outside if nice, so my husband had dressed to sit outside in 80 degree weather. We were not notified until there that we couldn't sit outside and instead sat in the FREEZING cold!! And it wasn't just us!! The gentleman at the next table got a sweater from his car and tied it around his neck. (Lacey used to call me to tell me that either I couldn't sit outside or couldn't have the table I requested. It was a nice courtesy.) We asked 3 different people if they could do something about the chill... They were packed for a Tuesday night with most rooms filled, the bar was packed, presentation rooms were booked, etc., so waiting for a while was understandable. It wasn't our server's fault we had to wait, but in the end, we weren't even offered a birthday dessert (or did they stop doing that?) I normally write glowing reviews about Eddie's, but was disappointed this time. Rachel stopped by to say "hi", as she was assigned to one of the presentation rooms. Josh had remembered my husband left something from our last trip and retrieved it for him - nice touch. Still positives, but it was not enjoyable when you're freezing in 80 degree weather. Taking my husband somewhere else for his birthday....
The dinner to celebrate my brother's 50th anniversary was very nice. They enjoyed the very good dinner in a beautiful setting and great service.
Wonderful Anniversary dinner!!
We made reservations for our wedding anniversary. When we arrived our table was ready and had an anniversary card signed by the staff. Our appetizers were fabulous, the salads were fresh, the side dishes were amazing, the main entrees were cooked to perfection and the dessert that was given to us as an anniversary gift was fantastic. We highly recommend Eddie Merlot's for a special occasion.
For the second time this year we had dinner at Eddie Merlot's. The service, the appetizers, the salads, the entrees and the desserts were fantastic. We highly recommend Eddie Merlot's We would like to thank Ryan and Fritz for extending their hospitality. This restaurant is one of Ft. Wayne's finest and the food and service are perfect. We highly recommend Eddie Merlot's for an incredible dining experience!
This was our first anniversary dinner, and I wrote that in my reservation so Eddie Merlot's would know. We had rose petals on our table and a card with a congratulatory note inside--very sweet. About 30 minutes into our romantic dinner, a table of five children, three under the age of 3, and their four parents were seating immediately beside us. This, unfortunately ruined the mood for the rest of the dinner. The little ones were crying and yelling at each other across the table. The parents gave the little ones their phones with children's movies and shows playing at a fairly loud volume. We have children. We love children. Just not when we get dressed up, spend what we would have to spend at a nice place like Eddie Merlot's, and let them know it's an anniversary dinner.
Exceptional waiter and food was perfect.
The food and service were excellent. With a reservation, however, I was surprised that we were seated in the bar area.
We had a lackluster experience at Eddie Merlot's. After waiting overlong for our server to initially greet our table, she opened with "This is a crazy night. Sorry for the poor experience you are about to get." Our table of 4 were served different portion sized salads. It seemed the chef made 3 salads instead of 4 then tried to cover the mistake by splitting one of them (unequally) into two portions. My dining companion inquired if I had ordered a "mini" salad. No, I hadn't. After our salad plates were cleared, my friend asked if we were supposed to be served bread. Our server looked stunned we didn't have any and brought it out with our dinners. Two of the 3 medium-rare steaks were overcooked, more like medium to medium-well. The salmon was overcooked as well. All meals were over salted. The wine which was to come with our dinner was suppose to be St. Francis. Instead we were served a bottle of Franciscan- something I didn't realize until later. We should have sent food back but knew we'd just have to wait overlong for our overworked server to bring replacements. This restaurant touts itself as a top notch place for steak and seafood. There is no excuse for cooking it improperly. I reached out to the manager. He did apologize and hoped we would give them another chance yet offered no compensation for our disappointing meals.
We usually plan a meal a Eddie Merlot's for special occasions. First, the good news... our reservation was on Saturday, August 17th, at 6:00. We were promptly seated (and only about 5 tables had guests). Our waitress welcomed us and took our drink order. She quickly returned with drinks and took our main order. The salads and entrees were properly spaced and brought out by runners. Our waitress did check to make sure the meals were ok. She didn't return until my wife's meal was done and she cleared her dishes. Now the problem... our waitress did not return to our table for 30 minutes! She said, "sorry, got kind of busy". She asked if we wanted dessert and we declined. She said she would be right back with the bill. We waited another 15 minutes, then she brought the check and said "oh, her is something for you wife's birthday. The dessert came a full 45 minutes after she completed her meal. On past visits, we usually have a manager come by and check with us, but not tonight. Is seemed like they had a couple of larger groups (8- 10 people) that got all the attention. Unfortunately, the lack of service tarnished a good meal and a special night.
Had a party of eleven for a birthday celebration, two small children as part of the group. Service was excellent; Collette was our main server and was flawless. Food was paced correctly, and from appetizers to soups and salads to entrees to desserts, everything was great. Highly recommend!!!
