Eddie Merlot's Prime Aged Beef & Seafood - Cincinnati
Comfortable, homey, welcoming staff from start to finish, special thanks to Captain Kirk for superb service.
So I went to Eddie Merlot’s last year for our anniversary in Columbus. Service, food was impeccable, we were very happy with everything. This time around it really didn’t feel, the same, I don’t want to knock them off or anything, just didn’t get that special treatment that I expected. Food was good as usual. Will I visit again, for sure! I guess they were just very busy tonight.
We and our guests had the best experience one could expect. The pace of the meal was perfect with the service excellent. Ted was our server and was the best.
We can always count on a great meal from Eddie Merlot's! Everything lived up to our expectations.
We have eaten here many times and thought it was a good value. However, our most recent visit was not good. Service was slow. The table was not cleared of dirty dishes for 15 minutes after finishing our dinner. An employee was resetting the table next to us, when she should have been clearing our dishes. It took longer than it should have between courses. And, this was a Sunday night. They were not busy.
We had another superb meal and a lovely evening!
Our waiter Kirk was outstanding. His recommendations were spot on and he made sure we were always taken care of. It was our anniversary and the card with good wishes and our complimentary dessert was a very special touch to our very special celebration. Everything was perfect!!
Mark is fantastic server. Great space to share a meal with the magic women in your life.
I ordered steak Diane with puff pastry. The chef should put the sauce on the plate first and then top it with the puff pastry and steak so the puff pastry isn't soggy. Calamari was really good.
Food was excellent! No acknowledgement from the server that is was our anniversary even though a signed card was on our table. No complimentary desserts. When we hesitated about having bread on the table her next comment was “maybe the next question won’t be so hard for you”. All four of us thought she had a condescending attitude. We saw many people in shorts and one in jeans so there is no dress code here. We have been here before and had a wonderful experience including a manager stopping by to see if we were having a good time. That didn’t happen this time. I can’t believe I’ve dreamed of going back to this restaurant for the fabulous food and had such a rough experience.
This was one of our worst experiences at Eddie Merlot’s. They try to to convey themselves as a fine dining experience, but it is hardly that except for the prices. It took forever for our salads to come out, and when they finally brought them, they also brought out our sides (without the entrees) so back under the heat lamps they went. The food itself was mediocre at best - the potatoes were soggy and gray colored. Our simple meal lasted almost 3 hours! - due to slow service and an overly talkative and invasive server who tried to up sell everything- for us and other customers and spent way too much time telling us where they used to work - very unprofessional for a restaurant like this. The manager was not visible most of the evening. This restaurant needs much better training of staff and needs to get back to having decent food - our salads were skimpy and all of them were flooded with salad dressing as if at some salad bar at a cheap restaurant.
Went with our waitress' recommendation to have the Bourbon Ribeye cooked medium well "to give the marbling a chance to melt into the meat." I typically like my steak medium rare. Was disappointed that I went with her recommendation...it was not to my liking. Also, I was charged for an extra $17 cocktail which I did not notice until the next day when reviewing my receipt. I won't be asking for this server on my next visit!
We frequent Eddie Merlots in a group of a few area steak/seafood places that we enjoy pretty regularly (Tony's, Carlo & Johnny, Embers). Itvranks really high with us for a few reasons:
Incredible front of the house (Scott is awesome!)
Great servers that remember your preferences and try to make your meal very enjoyable (Mark is the best)
Very comfortable seating (we love the half round booths and love that they always try to seat us were they know we like to be)
Great food and incredible deals/specials offered- when there are so many great choices nearby it is so nice to have a place that offers a special from time to time that they send to frequent diners....we are always happy to get a deal and have an "excuse" to head out to dinner :)
Loved the special burger and wine. Wish we would have asked how much the Shrimp Cocktail was when the waitress suggested it.
Six of us went out for a celebratory dinner. We requested and were seated on the bar area. Our server was delightful... efficient, friendly and had a sense of humor. She made us feel welcome and valued customers. Drinks were excellent. We shared filet mignon with salads and a couple sides. Everything was cooked perfectly and delicious. Thanks for making a special occasion even more special.
Wonderful experience. Good food, excellent service. Was an important anniversary for us and we received complimentRy desserts. The $35 specials are a good deal.
Celebrated my birthday. Food was great and deserts were fantastic. Try the carrot cake! The best. Great people watching also at their large bar. Great time!
A great place to celebrate an anniversary! Filet Mignon was tender & grilled to perfection. We also ordered Caesar salad & Brussels sprouts with carmelized onions, bacon & parmesan. Kirk was our awesome server. Jimmy made a perfectly mixed Espresso-tini! All wished us a happy anniversary & we received a complimentary dessert!
This is one of our favorite places to celebrate special occasions, We always get great service and the food is always good. This time was no exception; our server, Gabby, was pleasant and professional. Can't wait for our next special occasion.
Food was great! However, I was disappointed with how the restaurant handled the celebration. The occasion we were celebrating was my boyfriend's 12 years of sobriety. I was sure I put this on the notes when I made the reservation. When I received a call to confirm the reservation, I even said it then, "my boyfriend" and I were celebrating his "12 years of sobriety". When I got to the restaurant, the hostess and the server said "so you are celebrating 26 years of marriage..." and the card on the table was addressed Mr and Mrs Harris - again, we are not married and we were not celebrating a wedding anniversary. The server even offered wine and gave the wine list to him before I got the chance to tell her we were celebrating his 12 years of sobriety. Aside from all this, the food was good and my boyfriend enjoyed his first time eating at the restaurant.
I expected the food to be better for the price. I don't think I will go back My steak was as not seasond it was very tough. If I'm going to spend 50 dollars on a steak it should be well seasoned tender. This was just a No for me 👎
It took over an hour to get our food. The staff didn’t acknowledge that it was excessive or offer an apology. I finally left. My husband had to ask for the food to placed in to go containers. It was definitely not the way I want to spend $200 on a meal for two.
I won’t be back or recommend it.
The meal was delicious. Our server Jason was great! Loved the atmosphere.
Excellent food with an even better service staff.’
This reservation was made for my parents 45th wedding anniversary and they took great care of their special evening! They felt very attended too and there were many extra touches that we didn't expect included. Thank you for making their 45th so special!
Great time had by all. Jenny was a great server and would go back just to have her wait on me.
Bad start, great finish. When we were seated, it took 20 minutes before the waiter came to take our drink orders and we were close to walking out (he said he had been "tied up"). The manager stopped at our table and we told him of the delay. He immediately said he would pay for our drinks. Later, he stopped by again and said they would upgrade our entrees. Finally, since it was our anniversary they gave us a wonderful creme brule for desert and a nice congratulatory note with specific details of the anniversary. The filets were excellent, tasty and cooked perfectly. Generous sides. All in all, an excellent meal. And the way the service problem handled was very classy. I would highly recommend Eddie Merlot's. It's our daughter's favorite as well.
Wow, what can I say, except it was one of the most amazing dinning experiences in a long time. We had not been to Eddie’s for about two years. The service was terrible, and the foods was disappointing. However, because it was Father’s Day, and it was my husband’s choice, so I went along. What a wonderful surprise. There is a new manager, there are new dishes. The Sesame seed crusted Ahi Tuna on a pink Himalayan salt ice block. It was amazing. We also had crab bisque soup with really fresh sweet crab meat. The Bourbon Ribeye steak was huge and delicious. All I can say is everything were delicious. The wait staff apparently were well trained, they do not come and grabbed the dishes as one of us is done, but rather waited till both of us were done to clear the table.
Howie was a spectacular waiter. He exudes kindness which is the most gracious disposition one could ask for!
Father’s Day dinner was fantastic; thanks for the great meal & ambience!
Our experience here has always been a good one. The food is delicious and the servers are attentive and personable. The manager comes to the table to make sure all is in order. We did notice the the portions seem smaller than on our first visit a few years ago. Maybe because of the new set menu items.
This is our top restaurant to go to for special occasions. The steaks are to die for and the service is top-notch! Great wine list as well.
Excellent service. Nice atmosphere and good food
Food was average as was the service
Excellent service and food. Had drinks at the bar and the bartender (Jimmy) was probably the best bartender we've ever had. Devoted to the customer and engaged with recomendations and chat.
We have been to Eddie Merlots many times and have always enjoyed the food, atmosphere and the service is wonderful.
It was a lovely evening. Food and service were excellent.
Nice service from Kirk and everyone was polite and respectful.
We had the spring prix fix and it was absolutely delicious...LOVED the grilled romaine salad. The filet / salmon entry included fingerling potatoes do no need to order sides. And the Kentucky butter cake was AMAZING.
We haven't been to Eddie's in awhile....but so glad we decided to give it another chance! We had the ahi tuna and crab from the Prix Fixe menu and it is one of the best meals we've ever had. We paired it with the crab and corn bisque and the new grilled romaine salad. Amazing! We'll definitely be going back to have it again soon. Also, for you Eddie aficionados, Tony is back! All felt right at Eddie's once again.
