Eddie Merlot's Prime Aged Beef & Seafood - Cincinnati
Delicious steaks, Pittsburghed perfectly!
Overpriced average food. Steak not cooked the way I ordered. Nothing special about the menu
The food was very tasty. The service was very efficient. The appetizers that were recommended were phenomenal. The Tempura shrimp and filet wontons were outstanding.
We were seated in the bar - which we love - however on this day there was a very noisy table of 6 right next to us that made it hard to hear. The pot roast on the winter menu is AMAZING! I had the avocado toast with smoked salmon and it was delicious!
Great food and outstanding service. Loved the carrot cake - best we've had in Cincinnati.
As always very good all the way from food to service
Food was excellent prepared just the way we ordered it. Our waiter, Pierre, is fantastic, paid attention to every detail and really made us feel welcome. The manager, Alan, was also very attentive checking on us every so often to see if everything was OK. Just a great overall experience!
The service was very good and the ambiance was good also. But the food was not worth the cost. My wife and daughter ordered filets and asked for them to be cooked to a medium temperature. The steaks were medium rare to rare. Plus the taste of the meat was marginal at best. My Ribeye was very fatty. I know that ribeyes naturally carry some fat. But this one was very fatty. Half the steak was inedible.
It is a nice restaurant but the cost is not consistent with the quality one would expect.
Waitress was aloof at best. Food Excellent. She made the experience seem as though we were in her way. Worst service to date and we’ve been many times. Food was excellent as always.
Everything was pretty good. The only thing I will say in the way of criticism is that out of the 4 of us, one ordered the $60 ribeye cooked medium. After eating the appetizers, soups, and quite a few drinks, he barely touched the steak and had it boxed up to go. When opening it up the next morning, we found that it was not medium. I’m not even sure this would count as medium rare. It was rare. The fat wasn’t really seared well, but the middle had that bluish, raw color. Reheating it to a decent temp at home was no issue, but for a restaurant that specializes in expensive steaks, this cooking job was pretty shameful.
Celebrating our 51st anniversary, we ordered the Chateaubriand. Gave 4 stars for food only because the side vegetables were lukewarm. Could have sent them back - chose not to. The beef was cooked to perfection. Enjoyed enhanced coffee and Biegnets. Excellent. Jamie was our waiter, remembered us from several months ago - perfectly timed service as always.
Outstanding service! They made every effort to make our Anniversary dinner very special!
Great Food and great service! Would definitely recommend.
Uncharacteristically two of the 4 steaks were cooked improperly. Then it took another 25 minutes for the replacement steak to be served. Management was very gracious and helpful but our server was always late in taking care of us. Normally we have a great experience here, but this just wasn’t one of them. We’ll go back again though.
Probably the best surf and turf I have ever had in my life! Service was outstanding. No complaints at all
Dining at Eddie Merlot's is a truly wonderful experience, which is why I took my visiting VIP, my MOTHER! Our waiter was the right balance of personable and gracious, and when my Mom's steak was slightly less rare than she preferred, they replaced it swiftly, and with zero awkwardness. The manager stopped by and followed up to ensure we were happy with the 2nd cut. The restaurant is beautiful and truly in an elite class.
Poor service. The waiter didn't check on us until near the end. The steak was warm and the sides were cold... Cold Mac n cheese and cold mashed potatoes... 150$ for a 10oz warm steak, cold sides, a 4oz. Steak, luke warm crab cake, and 1 glass of wine. Pass.
Perfect New Year's Eve - nothing bad to say - all perfect. Excellent Chateaubriand, avocado toast, soup and lobster escargot. Champagne was well chilled - the way we like it. Holly took great care of us. I love that we are recognized now and acknowledged from the time we get to the host station to the time we leave. This is our go to place for date night or just a time out for pampering our taste buds.
The appetizer was very good, as was the bread they sent out. However for the price that we paid both our steaks came out charred too much and my wife's was egregiously over cooked. They re-cooked it, but by then she was eating a steak alone. When we first sat down the waitress was a little over eager to get our order, but at the end of the night us and other tables were left looking for her.
All in all for it being a high class, high end restaurant.. I was left very underwhelmed. We love to explore and find unique cool places, but this place will not be a place we return to.
My open table reservation was at 8:45pm. My wife and I arrived at 7:30 (our choice) upon arrival I checked in with the hostess. She said we likely still have to wait until close to our reservation time. We were understanding of that. We waited at the bar area until 8:40 when at that time I checked in with the hostess about our table, her response was that I was next to be seated. I told the hostess that I would pay my bar tab and be right back. When my wide and I came right back, the hostess said that another hostess gave our booth (I requested a booth on open table) to another party. We waited at least another:20 for a booth. Once seated, it was like we weren’t even sitting there. Took quite some time and we even had to ask after waiting for a server. We were offered complimentary appetizers and drinks for our wait. We appreciated that, but it just felt like we weren’t important or respected. I realize it was a busy evening, but that’s no excuse. It was our first time dining at Eddie Merlot’s and the experience wasn’t quite as enjoyable as we envisioned especially on New Years Eve.
I understand it was New Year’s Eve but you were out of baked potatoes sweet potato casserole and the bison. We were a party of ten and you seated us in a corner with the smallest round table possible. We had to ask the server twice for a drink and my filet medallions had to be taken back and cooked a little longer and came back and still not done. We had dirty silverware that had to be replaced twice. I was extremely disappointed I have had dinner in the bar area on different occasions but this was by far the worst experience
We had the worst service we’ve ever had dining out. My steak was cooked incorrectly, when I mentioned it to our server, I got no apology, only an eye roll. He didn’t offer to make it right or even apologize. My side dish of mashed potatoes was also completely cold when brought out. I won’t list all of the issues but entire experience at this restaurant was absolutely horrible.
My Wife and I Went for New Years Eve, Shrimp Cocktail was great, then ordered two Filets mine was fine my wife’s was Well Done (ordered Medium) as we waited for a new steak mine got Ice Cold as Well as our side dishes were Beyond cold then when my wife got her new steak it went from Well done to Dark Red Rare. All that was bad enough but what really made me upset was not one person from Management came by to say sorry for ruining our New Years Dinner or to see how we’re doing. The waiter took some money off our bill but that really was not the Point. We were Members of their Dining Club at one time but that won’t be happening soon I think.
Nice atmosphere, that is what you are really paying for at this establishment. We went on New Year’s Eve and everyone and their brother was waiting for their table and congregated around the entrance, so you could not enter or exit easily. Filet was tender, and cooked to order, but under-seasoned; you can probably make a better steak at home. Mashed and fingerling potatoes were luke-warm at best. Carrot cake was served overly chilled. Our friend liked her crab cake dish and the Caesar salad was yummy.
This is my fourth time at EM and I continue to be underwhelmed but the food quality and taste for the money spent. The food is average at best. Disappointing. Will not be back. The crab cake was good. The New Orleans dish was not good, neither was my husband’s steak and shrimp. The restaurant should benchmark Tony’s and Jeff Rubys steaks and step up their game. The ambiance is nice as well as the staff.
We ordered 5 steak dinners and only 2 of the steaks were prepared like they were suppose to. The 2 checks were overcharged and luckily we were checking our bills to catch it then we had to set and wait several minutes for them to corrected. We have ate there before and this time were disappointed in our meals and for the price this should have not been the case.
Service was very good, we ordered our steaks medium rare but my 16 oz. New York Strip came out rare on half of it and medium rare on the other half. The potatoes and mushrooms were very good. Our server though took the paid and tipped bill before we left the table which to me is always a no-no!
Miranda was great!
Very elegant dining - waiter was outstanding.
We love Eddie Merlot’s. It’s a splurge, for sure, so we go on special occasions. Portions are large so everything is splittable and that is encouraged. Even with splitting everything, we still took a doggy bag home and enjoyed steak and eggs and potato pancakes for New Years Day breakfast. Our server, Pierre, was very nice and there was no issue when we sent my husbands portion back for a little more cooking since it was too rare for him. It’s a great place and we love our special scents there.
Steak was good. Sides were just ok. Service was excellent. Overall a bit pretentious. Seated at a table which was not very comfortable. Food not worth the prices. We like Jags better.
Service was good. Food was sub par. Fish was not fully cooked and cold, wife’s soup was cold and had to be sent back twice. I would give them a 2 out of 10 . Manager comped most of the bill due to them dropping the ball. Probably won’t go back again.
Treated us like royalty. Highly recommend.
BEST steaks in Cincinnati! The steaks were MUCH better than the ones we had on a recent trip to Carlo & Johnny's.
The service was good and portion size apporpriate for the cost. I ordered the New Zealand Elk medium rare. It came out raw 3 times. They comped the bill for the inconvieience. Disappointed the Elk was not show cased as it should have been but the staff was very kind.
Great service and atmosphere. Party of 5 ordered variety of dishes from fish to steak. All good except my steak that was undercooked. Sent 7 oz fillet back twice and still wasn’t evenly to medium. Not a good piece of steak if can’t get it to right temperature. Disappointing for steak restaurant.
Great food, good Eddie Merlot cab and dirty martini
The ribeye was one of the best steaks that I have had and the service was outstanding!
Service was spotty ... we went for long periods with nobody checking on us. Our table was in a high traffic area, and with the noise level it was very hard to have conversation. The food was just okay ... not up to par with other steak houses in the area.
Server did not add our Platinum points, even though I gave her the card. Food was very good as always.
