It was a great experience, in fact one of the best steakhouse experiences I have ever had they took good care of my wife for her birthday and the steaks were perfect.
We came here to celebrate my wife’s birthday. The food was good. The service was quite cold. The waiter did not seem to take care in taking order not show much patience. We had a kid with food allergies he did not seem to pay much attention to it. We had to ask about the allergies for each dish and course. Despite that when he food was brought out it was not explained properly and our daughter accidentally took a taste or the sauce that was allergic to her which spoiled the evening for us. Also the steaks seemed to be over cooked. The lobster was quite bland and chewy. Overall quite a forgettable and frankly regrettable experience.
Delicious dinner with outstanding service. Crab, avocado salad and King crab legs appetizers were amazing. Our entres were perfectly cooked, bourbon ribeye and bison filet. You can’t go wrong with cream corn and broccoli for side dishes. Our server (Mark) always provides outstanding service. Can’t wait to be back there
Great service and even better food. I tried the bison filet this time and it was phenomenal. This restaurant is definitely one of our favorites!
Outstanding experience on New Years Eve!
The food was not hot when it was served and when we brought it to the attention to the manager they took the food back to reheat it. When our food was brought back it was still not hot. The manager did comp the meal for my wife. We were very disappointed.
We had a great new years eve dinner there. Everything was lovely. My wife and I split the Cowboy Bone-in Ribeye and it was too tough for a $100 steak but we were having such a nice time with friends we didn't want to bring everything down. Everything else was Excellent...I just wouldn't order that dish again.
Great food and great server in Abdella!
We had an enjoyable meal with family. Service was great. The food was good but not spectacular - for this price I would have expected gourmet dining and meat comparable to the best grills and steakhouses. Unfortunately the quality of cooking and size of cuts for the price feel far short of this expectation. This place is good but vastly overpriced.
This was our second time and probably our last. Food was really just ok. $60 for Dover Sole was outrageous $30 would have been acceptable given the portion size. Hubby got an Elk chop that was over cooked. Creamed Spinach was the highlight of the meal. Sad to say Loudoun Co has too much competition to pay this kind of money for an average meal.
My family and I celebrated my husband's birthday at Eddie Merlot's. We arrived on time and were seated promptly. The wine and food were wonderful, however, our waiter seemed annoyed, was condescending and smelled like smoke. One person in our party asked about getting a smaller portion of steak -- she knew she couldn't eat a 7 oz. steak and wanted options so she wouldn't waste food. The waiter told her there wasn't any price difference between a 4 oz and 7 oz steak so she might as well order the 7 oz and take home what she doesn't eat. Does anyone take home uneaten steak? When we started ordering, a few of us had some questions about the meals that changed our minds on what we wanted to order. He generally seemed perturbed that we were there. When I asked for more time to decide, the waiter ripped the paper out of his notepad, rolled his eyes and huffed away. The remainder of the meal the waiter was OK, but smelled like smoke - really not appetizing!
Awesome food! Good service! Definitely suggest for family dinners or friends get together.
Our server Andy made the evening for me, my husband and my sister who was visiting from out of town.
Great food and great service
Great food, excellent service! Very good holiday restarantt.
Christmas Eve dinner with the family
Food was very good; service was impeccable.
Terrific food - some of the best steak I have ever had. A bit pricey though.
Good food, great service, clean and well appointed. Only complaint was the noise. We had a hard time conversing.
Went for my husbands birthday with our teenage children and another family. We we set immediately at a large table. It was quite loud but expected for a Friday evening. Our server Eric did a superb job on offering us appetizers and drinks. The wine we chose was pricey but amazing and worth every penny. Now on to the food which is where the meal went bad. We started with the shrimp, beef pot stickers and beef carpaccio, all were delicious. Then our meals arrived, from bone in ribeyes, lamb chops, elk chops, filets, lobster tail, King crab legs and veal franchise. The beef and lamb orders were all good, not out of this world this is the best steak I’ve ever had. Lobster tail, king crab legs which looked more like snow crab and veal were all cold. I had ordered the veal and I took a bite even though the meal looked like something you’d fried up in you own kitchen and had what looked like no sauce on it. Once I investigated I did discover a minuscule amount of sauce underneath the cold unpleasant looking and unfortunately bland tasting veal. The server Eric had gone to get me more sauce which I hoped would be warm but when he came back to the table I had already decided that the veal was not worth the $40 and I would rather just order so else. I quickly ordered the 7oz filet which was done quickly so that I could eat with the others. I would have liked to have a sauce on the side but I didn’t order any and I believe my filet would have been better with a sauce. All of our sides that we had ordered to share with the table were just warm, not hot and really not very tasteful. Lobster mashed potatoes seemed like instant with some lobster claw meat thrown on top. The macaroni and cheese was grainy and only warm. We also had broccoli, asparagus and creamed corn which I did not eat but was told the corn was delicious. Over all with a bill that was over $800 you would’ve thought we would’ve walked away full and happy but honestly we were very disappointed.
One of our worst dining experiences in recent memory!
Went to celebrate the holidays with a friend during their limited lunch opening. Overall, food was good; service needed work but have already discussed with management.
For this caliber of restaurant and price point we expect to be overwhelmed with great service, unfortunately this was not the case. The food was delicious as always but our server seemed very disturbed he was working the lounge area. We asked about happy hour to which he replied “I don’t know I never work the lounge”, but eventually came back and let us know it was until 7. We had to ask for the lounge menu and he swiftly took it away once we looked at it, never to be seen after that. When he poured my wine, he left the carafe with some still in it and then came back and took the wine left in the carafe away which I had to ask for back. I then was looking at wine menu for a different glass to try and the manager stopped to see what I would like, he brought back the wine and poured the red I just ordered into the white glass I just had. We had specifically requested a table in the lounge away from the doors and when the hostess went to seat us, apparently someone had already sat at the table they had saved for us so we got stuck near the doors and the large office party/ private event going on making it difficult to talk at our table. It’s a shame because we brought friends who had never been and this was their first impression. Hopefully they will continue to focus on the service aspect, the food has continued to be good here.
Excellent food and superb service! Will be back for New Year's Eve!
Excellent ambiance! Service was outstanding! Not cheap but the value of food and service is worth it.
Dress up a bit and enjoy Fine dining to be sure! Timothy our waiter enhanced our experience with his vast knowledge of the variety of meats and history of the restaurant. The quality of the food was also superd as was the thoughtful presentations.
I consider this to be an expensive restaurant so my expectations were very high. Had our server been great it would have been a completely different, great experience. He was not that friendly, and seemed annoyed with us for not ordering alcohol and asking for minor modifications to our meals. Food was very good. I might go again sometime, but definitely would be hoping for better service.
Food and service were excellent. Dan and Brock were entertaining.
We enjoyed a great evening, and service was outstanding
Compared to all the other high end steak houses Eddie Merlot's was ok. For the price point I expected to be wowed, but I was underwhelmed. The service was good and staff were attentive, but the food was just typical steakhouse offerings that we felt we could have gotten at any mid range steakhouse.
Hands down ‘GREAT’ place close to home and to be honest why drive in to DC when you have a 5 Star restaurant in your back yard! And I doubt you would find a better restaurant in DC that includes Ruth Chris or Fleming’s to name a few..
Wonderful evening. Food was excellent. Our server, Mark, was a bit surly in the beginning, but came around after a while. Restaurant is definitely for special occasions unless you have a great expense account or deep pockets. Thoroughly enjoyed it and will recommend it to others.
The service we received from both Cassie and the manager was exceptional!!!
Birthday. Waiter was mia tending to a larger party
The service was terrible and the food was overly priced. It took 45 minutes to even get bread after we complained. I will never go back.
We’re moving away and wanted to have a nice dinner with friends, food was great but their was a VERY loud party that no one managed. When I mentioned it to the manager he said he couldn’t do anything it the holiday season and people are drinking and I have lots of loud tables- I said NO this table was very disrespectful of everyone in the room and others were making eyes about how rude they were behaving!
Why would a restaurant put two large tables of 16 in a very small room with 4 other tables of six? Poor planning. Either give them a private room or put a group of large tables in the room. There was a family seated next to us and the dad was just as unhappy and disgusted as we were.
As a manage it’s your job to be checking what’s going on in every room, if he was doing his job he would have noticed how LOUD these people were- hey I’m all for having fun but how about RESPECT for other!
We were underwhelmed. Unfortunately the service was not what we would have hoped for. It took forever to get our drinks and A number of trips by the wait staff. Several in our party ordered beers and were presented with the beer bottles. The waiter then quickly walked. We had to flag someone down to ask for glasses for the beers and were told they didn't have glasses. We persisted and said a water glass would be okay. Some asked for lemons and some for limes in their cocktails - all received limes so another trip to get the lemons. The lack of attention carried on through our whole evening. On a positive note, the food was quite good. This group of friends dines out together quite often but we probably won't pick Eddie Merlots next time. Very disappointed.
Mediocre... quality of food relative to high-end prices was disappointing.
