First they let us come early, so that was nice. However our server was awful. It took 49 minutes to get soups, which were cold and salads. We watch other servers visit their tables but ours was no where to be found. We have been there before and enjoyed it very much. Maybe our server was having a bad day, but it did take some enjoyment out of our evening.
i loved my short rib dinner with mashed potatoes, the eckls lager was great, the shrimp soup with corn was great, my wife however was not that thrilled with her filet wellington, too salty and the puff pastry bottom was burned, the service was outstanding
Service was poor. The waitress didn’t refill water or take away dirty appetizer dishes. Our steaks were over cooked, not as we ordered. 1 steak was smaller than the other 2. All steaks were grizzly. Our drinks were good but no glass for the Heineken. Poor service. Ordered German potato salad because neither the menu nor the waitress indicated that French fries came with the steak. The French onion soup and banana peppers were quite good. No offers of coffee or dessert. Poor service. I will not come back or recommend this restaurant due to poor service and quality of the food. We were looking forward to a good meal and that did not happen.
We enjoyed our first visit here. Very nice set up inside. Parking can be difficult though. We came on a saturday in February and it was a slower night. We were promptly greeted by the hostess who offered to take our coats. Our server Dillon was friendly and answered my questions regarding the drink and food menus. We had the ceviche, beef Wellington, hot German potato salad and the beef on weck nouveau. All were very good. Also the jimhattan and eckls drops were tasty drinks.
We thought the food was of high quality but clearly not worth the price charged for salad and steaks. Bread offered with dinner was low image rolls only.
The food, service and ambiance was great. Wonderful experience altogether!!
I really wanted to love this place. But it feel short. Its beautiful and the decorations are warm and inviting. The staff is very nice.
But cocktails at the bar were over priced. It took over 20 mins for a waitress to come to our table after we were seated. Hostess did apologize and was very sorry about that. I had the 4 oz filet, that was more like a 2oz filet. Added a 10oz lobster tail. That came undercooked and no flavor. Had to send it back to be cooked more. Cheese board and my husbands prime rib were very good. Wine selection was nice.
Unfortunately our beef Wellington was very rare. Had to be sent back.
It was a beautiful room, the menu had variety and the prices were on point. What more could you ask for?
Wonderful dinner before the BPO concert. Great food and service. "Elegant industrial" decor. A New York City feel in downtown Buffalo! Very convenient Uber transportation provided to/from Kleinhans Music Hall.

Service was incredibly slow, this would be understandable if it was crowded, but it was fairly empty. Our waitress seemed annoyed we were there. We ordered a French martini which I realized isn't too common, but the drink came back basically a glass of chambord. We ordered a particular meritage wine, but they were out, rather than telling us this we were brought a random red wine that the waitress said was good (not a meritage) this wine smelled and tasted like it had gone bad. I ordered the filet, there are a variety of toppings available like a Demi glaze but after being told it's well seasoned on it's own I went with just the steak. It was a great cut of meat (as you'd expect for $50) however had no seasoning not even salt and pepper. This was our second time going, our first time want very good either, but was immediately after opening so we thought it deserved a second chance, it didn't.
The restaurant itself is beautiful it's a shame the service is so poor.
Valentines Day dinner. Seated promptly. Very upscale decor and tastefully done. Cocktails ok. Got calamari for an appetizer. Decent start but very typical for a dish served everywhere. Ordered prime rib and 42 day aged ribeye for entrees. Ordered ala carte. Sides were mushrooms and deep fried gnocchi. Gnocchi really tasted like something frozen out of the box with powdered Parmesan cheese sprinkled on top. Barely lukewarm, should have kept in the oven longer! There were not enough mushrooms for even one person. For the price ridiculous. Prime rib lukewarm also and not the best cut I’ve ever had. Once again, slightly less than average. Ribeye good but not wonderful for a showcased menu item. Service attentive. Passed on dessert based on meal. Disappointing based on first impression and expectations. Not rushing back anytime soon. Too many outstanding dining options in the area for this price point.
Nice place the artichoke dip was very good. We ordered salmon and halibut for dinner and both were over cook, I would not order seafood again.

We made reservations for two , for a Birthday . Hoping to have a quiet romantic evening . It was our very first time there. We arrived a bit early we were told we would have to wait a few minutes,which is ok - so we went to the bar. The wine selection was awful the wine was sub par and very pricey. We got to our table and we were seated against this big post also there was a large table of 6-8 people next to us -loud .We thought the atmosphere was great,the waitress came and took our orders, brought us another glass of wine and came back several minutes later and brought us a dinner roll and came back 15 minutes later &said she apologized for the long wait but the fact that there was a couple of large parties our dinners were going to be a while , finally after 30 minutes I got my salad, then 15-20 minutes later we got our dinners . We ate and wanted to go ,we figured desert would take too long.. we were extremely disappointed we go out with friends once or twice a month and we thought this would be an interesting place to go but we won’t be back, until they upgrade their wine selections and it seems like they were very disorganized.
Walked in to a warm beautiful space. Met friends at the bar before dinner. Cocktail was amazing so really looking forward to the meal. When we returned to the host stand there were many parties waiting to be seated. No one was in charge, very confusing. I found the young lady who had first greeted me and she sat my party of 4 but let us know she would not be our server. We waited quite awhile for Scott to come to our table. He appeared rushed and not very interested in spending time with us. I had planned on ordering the Sea Bass but was told it was no longer available. We placed our order including appetizers. We received cold pretzel rolls about 10 minutes later. Oysters, soup and salad all arrived together about 3O minutes later. Entrees arrived a short time later. Salmon portion was shocking small considering the prices. My crab legs were partially cold and it took another 10 minutes if asking for drawn butter. I had asked for a substitute for potatoes which server had nothing except extra vegetables for an additional cost! We had no explanation for the poor service and Scott continues to rush by us. As the night continues the room became chilly like the heat was turned off. We finished our meal and left. Cannot say if i will return anytime soon. Hoping this was just an Off” night.
It was our first time at Eckl’s. We had checked out the menu online and were looking forward to our night out for a birthday celebration. The food we ordered was very good. These were some of the things we didn’t like. The specials - there really weren’t many. My husband had looked at the online menu and was looking forward to having the Chilean sea bass. However, when he went to order it the server told us they were out because it was a January special (we went on Feb 1st). So even though this was a Saturday night, they were out of the sea bass (although still on the specials menu because they hadn’t printed the one for February yet) and was no other similar fish option. Disappointing, to say the least. Also, not much of a dessert menu - we passed. Another confusing thing on the menu was the steak prices. First off, I find $55 for an 8 oz filet ridiculously high, even if it’s a “chairman’s reserve.” I ordered the 4 oz petite filet which was less than half the price of the 8 oz ($25). Couldn’t figure out the price discrepancy. Cooked perfectly though. And I know steakhouses always price their sides separately, but for a $55 steak, sides should come with. All in all, we enjoyed our food and the ambiance, but I think for the price and the disappointing specials menu, next time we’ll go somewhere that is less expensive, but still just as good (e.g. Lucia’s, Rick’s on Main, Hutch’s).

Great evening at Eckl’s! Bar was fabulous, the drinks and friendliness was exceptional. In fact the owner was in the bar area an you can be assured of a well managed, total restaurant high-quality environment! Food and service was superb. Wait staff assisted in the selection of appetizers and entrees. All very well done!
We went on NYE and the atmosphere was great but service was pretty slow. The restaurant wasn’t too busy so I was very surprised how slow it was to get our drinks, appetizer, and meal. Our server did a nice job though and apologized for our wait. Drinks were good but a little over priced. I ordered the lobster ravioli and was pretty disappointed, it was very dry and the shrimp that came on top of the ravioli was overcooked / too charred. I do enjoy going to Eckl’s but this experience wasn’t what I was hoping for.
Steak and Oysters were really good. However, the services was a bit slow and almost seemed like they lacked enough staff.
Food was good, slightly overpriced but overall a good experience.

New Year’s evening
I had the roast beef dinner. My potatoes and asparagus were Luke warm at best. Roast beef was good.
We shared a crab salad that was disappointing - tiny crab legs with the shell still there. Not much else to it. My husband had the lobster ravioli which he did not care for. I loved the ambiance and our server was good.
Service was a little slow, nearly 2 hrs, with no appetizers but we were able to have conversation across the table and understand/hear everyone. The salads were beautiful and the portion of prime rib were large. The scallop dish was a bit small, only 4 scallops
Steak burger was overcooked and dry. However the roast beef and wings were delicious.
This may be my new favorite restaurant! Everything was outstanding and we are looking forward to a return visit. I highly recommend the oysters, stuffed peppers, filet mignon, and gratin risotto.
Absolutely would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. Went here with another couple for my husbands birthday dinner. Every item we ordered we were told they were out of. I asked for the manager who came out with an attitude. Told her what happened and her response was what do you want me to do about it. She then went on to say it wasn’t their fault they had a busy night the day before and the 2 of her kitchen staff didn’t show up. I ask why we were not told this when we arrived and she had nothing to say. Needless to say I will make sure that I tell everyone I know what happened and not to go there. Shame as I am sure that the owner is unaware that the face of his company is rude and ignorant
Food and service were great but waited a LONG time for our food. Waited 15+ minutes for French onion soup and then about another 15 for a banana pepper dip to be served.
Honest Honest GREAT SERVICE- Our Christmas Eve dinner was most enjoyable at this comfortable and stylish place. We love that it is in the Larkin and had no problems finding parking. The food was delish, I had the beef Wellington, Yum. We really enjoyed our mixed drinks. I had tasty London Mules (we had a DD). Maybe I enjoyed them too much as I left my phone and credit card. Not to worry as my waiter handed it in and the Manager was sure to let me know my phone was safe. The staff there were very nice people!

Went for dinner for the first time on 12/14/19. The ambiance was great, as were the specialty drinks. We ordered the gouda mac and cheese and the lobster ravioli for our entrees and the beef on weck egg rolls for our appetizers and both were truly amazing. Our server was extremely attentive and helped us in offering suggestions from the menu. Would highly recommend.
