Great food in a great location
It was our first time dining there. We had a reservation. There were very few people in the restaurant when we arrived for our 4:30 reservation for 4 people. When they showed us to a table with 2 chairs and a bench-type seating, we asked if we might have one of the tables with 4 chairs, since some of the people in our party have back issues. They refused. I asked if all the people who were going to be seated at the then empty tables that had 4 chairs had been specifically requested. They said no, but that they were unable to change the way the reservations were entered into the iPad they were using. Really? It was infantile, and we won't return.
When the server came with our bill, she apologized for not being able to give us the kind of table we preferred. It was time for us to determine her tip. Hmm!
Incredibly over priced food
I wad offered drink specials and ordered one then the specials card was taken away and i was told they were not being offered. Portions are Incredibly small and only enough for a snack yet cost enough to feed a family
Moved our table due to fruit flies swarming. They found us on the other side of the restaurant. If the food had been excellent we may have enjoyed ourselves, but food was only so so. 1 out of 4 raved and 1 was bland/ no flavor. Waitress was as helpful as possible but couldn’t corral the fruit flies. Can’t come back to this place.
3rd attempt to review w/photo. Beautiful decor, hot location, needs professional restaurant management. We were the only 4 in the bar on a Sat. at 6:30 p.m. At 7 the hostess attempted to seat us adjacent to another table of 4 although there were only 3 other parties. We moved for some privacy. Waiter was pleasant but at only 2 weeks knew little re: menu. Lobster bisque with & without sherry was delicious. 2 beef on wecks were good, scallops with a fruit compote had been recommended & was also wonderful. I asked and was encouraged to order the lobster ravioli which were gorgeous and unable to cut with a knife! I told the waiter to inform the "chef" that, understanding al dente, these were undercooked. I scraped out the lobster and ate the shrimp & sauce which were very tasty. Left all the pasta on my plate. Upon clearing the waiter remarked "Oh, you said you didn't like it." No apology, no offer of a dessert to share, nothing! Since the neighboring venues were all packed I'm assuming the word is out that Eckl's is not living up to its reputation and is a terrible disappointment for such a lovely building and happening neighborhood.
The only drawback was there were lots of tiny fruit flys and then regular flys too. This was very annoying. On the food and really as we looked around they were all over. Took away from a great restaurant! Also one of the bar tenders was not real good at explaining the speciality cocktails. I do need to say Alex at the bar was great, he was able to fix the VERY VERY STRONG drink I ordered. Love the music and bar area.
Beautiful inside. Food was mediocre. I had the chicken sandwich (not much flavor). My friend had a burger - ordered medium rare came out medium well. Notified our server, she apologized but didn't offer to have a new burger prepared.
Not sure if the higher end and higher priced food was better but I won't be going back.
I've been there for lunch as well as dinner and both were very good.
It was great! Our server was very nice.
The restaurant was beautiful but the carpet needed to be vaccuumed and there were tons of large flies all over. We were told by our very pleasant server that it was because the garage doors in the bar were open. There are many restaurants that have these doors and I've never seen flies like this. It was gross.
Food was average, nothing spectacular....service was nice and friendly....wouldn’t go back, not because anything was bad, but just not great.
Went for a birthday dinner. Food came out quick and was hot. The staff was very personable and nice
I thought they did a beautiful job with the building. I had traditional roast beef sandwich it was just so so. Soggy roll and overcooked beef. Could not compare with original restaurant when the food was good there
Salad and French onion soup and bread very good.
Very pricey, prices way higher than online. Great service, food ok, open garage doors in bar let bugs into dining room.
Very disappointed in the lunch we ordered. Roast beef was extremely tough in all four of our sandwiches.
Very nice woodwork in the dining room and bar lounge area. Love the roll-up doors and the different options for dining at Eckl’s. The restaurant was slow for a monday after the holiday weekend. Service was spectacular and the food was perfect. Nothing went wrong and everything tasted great. I’d recommend the steak house wedge salad and the strip with a gorgonzola crust. Perfectly seared. My wife had the burger with bacon and grilled apple. Yeah I know, she just wasn’t craving seafood or a steak. She was impressed by the burger and the flavor. Also the spicy corn and sausage soup was very good. Worth a repeat visit. We will have to check it out when the doors are open and Larkin has some action going on.
We’ve always headed to Eckls in the south towns for roast beef , but we were very disappointed in the beef on weck in Larkinville. Beef was flavorless and everyone said “something is wrong with the flavor of the roll. “. On the positive... The place had a great location and atmosphere...the French fríes, Eckl beer and gnocchi were delicious.
Restaurant is well done and has a nice feel to it. Service was fast and friendly. Wait staff made suggestions and was knowledgeable about menu. I had the classic beef on wrck. One of the better versions in the area, worth going back for.
Delicious and well prepared food. Beautiful restaurant with calming atmosphere. Highly recommend.
I think the quality did not meet the price. Baked potatoes were under cooked. Lobster Bisque was very salty and did not get eaten. Lobster Ravioli was under cooked. It took an hour and 15 minutes from the time we ordered until our food arrived.
The place is very nicely decorated. Service was good. Had the lobster bisque and Cobb salad, it was very good. We ordered the surf and turf for two, lobster was amazing and filet was very good as well but slightly overcooked. Truffle fries were very tasty as well. Overall it was a great experience and we'll definitely be back
Wonderful ambiance from the second you open the front door of the building. Decor was splendid. Greeted pleasantly and sat at a great table on a mostly empty restaurant on Thursday evening. Food was excellent from soup to roast beef special, hunters stew and vegetable lasagna. Hope business picks up during the week.
Omg I’m so sorry I forgot to cancel this reservation and apologize completely. Eckls is always great!
The food and service were very good. The pricing fair for the quality.
Very empty so really no ambiance.
Started at the bar for a drink and to meet up with the group of 6, great bartenders. We were seated and ordered a couple appetizers and placed our dinner order. Four of our party ordered the prime rib and the other two ordered chicken and a beef dinner. When the food arrived we were surprised at the appearance of the prime rib. Did not look like any prime rib I have ever had before. We could barely cut the meat with the knife and was not even chewable. On top of that the baked potatoes were hard and not hot enough to melt butter. The waiter, who was great, asked how the dinners were and when told went to get the manager. She apologized and started to offer a discount but after seeing the situation she took the four dinners off the bill. We were disappointed to say the least after planning on a great experience. The other two meals were ok, overall the reviews I read appear good and I was assuming things would go well. We were treated well and the atmosphere is nice, just cannot understand how the kitchen could have sent out these dinners.
Went there for my sisters 55 th BD dinner. Outstanding food and service. The cost of the meal was bit higher than the chain restaurants but well worth the money. I will be planning to stop by here again!
Service was very good. Setting is lovely. Known for its roast beef, we were disappointed with the sandwiches. Beef did not come cooked as requested, was tough & roll tasted funny. Fries were yummy. Would go back for a drink at the bar, but not for dinner
Service very slow, but they acknowledged it and gave us a complimentary dessert.
The food was just ok, the portions were very small and the prices were high. Service was good and atmosphere is nice.
Great place for a special occasion dinner. Soups and stuffed banana peppers were great. Our server was good.
This is an upscale urban version of their longtime suburban location. To quote the owner, “it’s Eckl’s with a attitude!”
I enjoyed my casual lunch and look forward to returning for an elegant dinner.
Wonderful meal, swanky spot.
Very overpriced and all a la cart. Not what I expected of a restaurant with the “Eckl’s name.
We were very disappointed. My sea bass was fishy, the server disappeared, 20 minute wait for our first drink, weird set up with the tables, no one at the hostess desk to great is. Sadly, we will not return.
Great food and beverage menu (only disappointment was the dessert choices)...food was delicious...service was excellent...beautiful setting...wonderful dining experience!
The reasons I like Eckl's are I'ts easy to park, the tables are far enough apart so you arn't on top of each other, the noise level is low, so you can talk with your dinner companions and the food is excellent. They also have vegetarian options that are very good. ie Vegetarian lasagna. The prices arn't cheap but they are reasonable. Salmon was $28.00. Scallops were $32.00. Several steak options.
Service was very good, food delicious, drinks refreshing, we will return.
I brought my family to your restaurant for a celebration of 3 birthdays.
I ordered the queen cut of prime rib, medium. It came to me rare, and full of fat. Usually a prime rib has fat around the outside, but this was throughout. It was the most unappealing piece of meat I've ever seen. I am used to prime rib from Russell's, Red Osier and Friar's Table. This was in no way comparable. My dinner guest ordered the king cut of prime rib medium rare, and although was cooked correctly, came riddled with fat and hard to cut. I was so embarrassed, and I didn't want to draw further attention to this meal, that I just let it go, instead of sending it back, which was my fault. I spent 200.00 for a meal for 4 and am still angry about this. In all fairness, the strip steak and short ribs were perfect. I was able to sample both and was pleased.
It took 20 minutes for a waitress to come to our table for the first time. Then, we received the wrong drinks. The potatoes were cold and the prime rib was tough. Super disappointing experience. We will not be back.
