Echo & Rig Steakhouse & Butcher Shop - Sacramento
We put a unique nose-to-tail spin on the traditional steakhouse, allowing diners to indulge in the best cuts of meat for incredibly approachable prices.
A butcher before a steakhouse, we use every part of the animal. We care about every animal - how it lived, what it ate, and how it was cared for.
Our 7,000 square foot space is located in the Downtown Commons Neighborhood (DOCO) in the lobby of The Sawyer Hotel. Situated on the bustling J Street corridor facing the Golden 1 Center main entrance.
We have a versatile space: a private dining room with audio/visual capability, an outdoor patio, and an outdoor bar available for rent.
Second time food took an hour to arrive. Not going back, despite how much I like the food and restaurant
Excellent food. Excellent staff.
We really enjoyed our time there. It was little loud because there was an event going on in the arena which made the environment little loud then a usual. But my family had a great time.
Great attentive staff! Delicious food. Can’t wit to go back.
This is the second time we've been to Echo & Rig and we love the place. The food is outstanding the service is out of this world. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to have a great evening out.
Excellent service and food! Far exceeded our expectations.
Great service. No corkage fee! Gave food 4 out of 5 because of my personal preference of having something besides chips served with my steak. Otherwise evening was perfect.
I got stuck in traffic & was late. The hostess was about to accommodate us & seated us at a later time. Thank you!
Very poor service and not what was expected for a high end restaurant
I will start with the positive. I booked this reservation for my annual sales team dinner prior to our meeting the next day. There were 8 of us and the restaurant came highly recommended and was largely chosen due to the close proximity to where we were staying (Embassy Suites Riverfront) and they did not charge a corkage fee (bonus). When we first arrived I was delighted to be seated at a round table which was great for interaction and conversation among the team. Our waiter came over and introduced himself and since it was our first time at Echo and Rig, he gave us some history and then offered to take our drink order. The food was delicious, I will be craving the Fried Spinach Salad for a long time to come. The rest of the story is just a shame. After our cocktails were ordered, one of our party received her cocktail almost immediately and another opted for a glass of the wine that we had brought in. It took another 15 minutes to get the waiter to open the wine and after 30 minutes we asked where the rest of the cocktails were. We were given an excuse that the cocktails were all new and the bartender lost the order, but they would make it good and give us a complimentary appetizer. This is how the night progressed....45 minutes in we finally got the rest of the drinks, an hour in the waiter finally came back and took our order, we never received the complimentary appetizer, our waiter seemed embarrassed and never came back to check on us...at all! We had to continuously ask the busers for our needs. We never were asked if we wanted another round of cocktails. Dessert menus were passed around and there was nobody to take our order. Long story short, I have NEVER had such bad service in my entire life. Eight beautiful women at a round table just must have made them nervous I guess :). We were seated promptly at 7:00pm, received 1 round of drinks and dinner and were not released until 9:45pm with a 20% mandatory gratuity. Bummer to say the least.
It is astonishingly loud in there, even with a room only about 3/4 full.
The service was not great...we waited 30+ min for our appetizer and then were left alone for an hour before our next course or any service came. Either the bussers need to be more frequent or hire more waiters.
Perfect brunch spot in downtown Sacramento!! Will definitely be back!
Love the ambiance and attentiveness of the staff during our dinner. We were celebrating a date night before we become a family of three & so glad we chose Echo and Ridge
A tad noisy, not an intimate setting, very open and the entrance was not where you would expect. Felt a little like walking through mels diner trying to get to the front desk. Food was very good, but not 5 star. The service was exceptional!
This was by far the best dining experience my wife and I have shared. It’s hard to believe, but the superb food was actually outshined by the impeccable service. Prior to receiving this survey, I had called the restaurant to express my gratitude for a wonderful dinner. Our server, Mary, was outstanding. I would recommend Echo & Rig emphatically to my friends and family.
Wonderful experience. The sea bass was delicious.
Our server Kim was outstanding! We’ll definitely be back.
Great service! Food was delicious. Personally, dont think ' chips' should be served with the steaks. Nice complimentary sundae desserts for Birthdays.
Very Average Night Out
I have been to Echo and Rig a couple of times and generally really like it, but tonight it missed the mark.
Our server was fine, but just okay, not what I expect for fine dining. When we ordered she never asked us what type of sauce we would like with our steaks and just ended up serving us all one type.
A couple salads were ordered and one of the salads two of them were delivered. We mentioned to her maybe there was a mistake and she was just like, "the kitchen must have delivered two" which was fine, but just a bit lackluster.
I ordered a filet, medium rare and it was served medium. So an okay, steak, but not as good as expected. Finally, we were given the bill, we weren't asked if anyone wanted coffee or dessert.
Overall, I will go back and give it another go, but just an average night, but since this is "fine dining" I expected more.
We ate before a show at Golden 1. Food was excellent and service was outstanding!
Pretty good. Good food, good price but the noise level is so high. Definitely not a place for an intimate dinner. If you want to talk during dinner then forget it. My husband and I barely hear each other. But other than than all is good.
Amazing Food!!!!!!! its that simple , I've recommended it to all my Friends
Awesome!!! Will be back soon! Nice place, Friendly staff!
This was out first time at the restaurant and we had a great time. Our waiter was attentive and did everything necessary to ensure enjoyed our meal. We had the Tomahawk Ribeye, which was perfectly seasoned and cooked. The asparagus with fried egg was a great side. Wine list was a bit limited but reasonably priced. Overall we had a wonderful meal.
Been here a few times. Every time we’ve been here the service has been impeccable and the food delicious! Highly recommend.
as everyone said, the brussels sprouts with pistachio and lemon is amazing. skip the maple butternut squash.
LOVE...LOVE this restaurant. Service perfection. Chearful and inviting. Amazing food. Fun upscale but casual environment. A must go to for brunch every weekend. Bottomless Bloody Mary’s. YUMMMM
We made our way through 4 appetizers. Delicious. Impeccable presentation. Great service. Going back soon to try more! May raven make it to the steak!
Went to celebrate birthday. A bit too noisy due to the Kings game. Food was ok but didn’t wow us
We got a free birthday ice cream which makes it great to end dinner. However when we were leaving the parking lot the server forgot to validate our parking. Good thing I had the receipt else we had to pay $50 penalty and made a terrible evening
The meat was dry and overcooked.
We usually go there for a breakfast and we love it. But tonight the dinner was a disappointment. The service was awesome as always.
Excellent, although they could use a little expansion to the wine list.
Every server is extremely educated on manners and the importance of making the customer comfortable. Deion was a great server!
Great food, poor service. We informed our waiter we had a concert to get to, but waited an hour--not a typo--an hour for our entrees. Missed the opening act. Neither the waiter, nor the maitre 'd to whom I complained, seemed to care. On the other hand, my steak and my wife's pork chop were both outstanding. Another nice feature is there's no charge for corkage. So overall, a mixed bag.
I love the food! Everything is delicious and well-priced. We were there on an event night and the service was SLOW and it was really loud. We had a table by the kitchen, which is not ideal. But everyone was polite and it was a nice meal.
Great dinner! We orders the big steak to share and it was perfect but the NY steak we orders was well done and they had to cook another. We r ought our own wine and they did not charge Corkage which was nice. Nice spot. Really liked it
Excellent customer service, atmosphere is great, most of the food was delicious!
The staff and service were both WONDERFUL! We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience, thank you again!
Strangest thing I’ve ever heard at a restaurant: There were 6 of us, and our server brought out a small round sourdough loaf (so each of us had 1 small slice). When we asked for another loaf of bread, we were told no, they are now not allowed to give any table more than 1 loaf. Our server said the kitchen usually runs out of bread by 7pm each night, so they want to make sure there is enough bread. It was only 5:15 when she was telling us this, so rather than bake more bread (or buy more), they are choosing to limit bread to one per table, no matter the size of the party, no matter the time of the day. Sounds like poor management planning to prepare for each day’s guests.
Serivice was inattentive and poor. Brunch menu left much to be desired.
My family’s favorite restaurant. Please open one in San Diego.
