Steakhouse
With Echo & Rig Chef Sam Marvin has introduced a pioneering new concept transforming the long-held theories behind the steakhouse formula.

We put a unique nose-to-tail spin on the traditional steakhouse, allowing diners to indulge in the best cuts of meat for incredibly approachable prices.

A butcher before a steakhouse, we use every part of the animal. We care about every animal - how it lived, what it ate, and how it was cared for.

Our 7,000 square foot space is located in the Downtown Commons Neighborhood (DOCO) in the lobby of The Sawyer Hotel. Situated on the bustling J Street corridor facing the Golden 1 Center main entrance.

We have a versatile space: a private dining room with audio/visual capability, an outdoor patio, and an outdoor bar available for rent.

Highly recommend. Fantastic service and incredible food. The salmon and swordfish were both excellent, as were the mashed potatoes and the brussel sprouts. The only downside was the noise level inside, but we were there at peak dinner time right before a concert, so that was expected. Otherwise, really great dining experience. Will most definitely be back.

Slow service 1st of all. Food was very good except the steak, which you think would have been the star. Ordered ribeye cap steak medium rare, came very rare...almost tartar....grissly also, was barely warm. Ive had much better steaks than this. Too bad, the rest of the groups dinners were very good....just not my night I guess.

Our server was the only thing that stopped us walking out. The food was terrible. The steaks got sent back and the oysters weren’t even the size of a teaspoon. Steaks were over salted and full of gristle so back they went. Our friends fillet was as chewy as when it’s expected to be the softest buttery steak out there. Googled best steakhouse in California and it came up as number one. Once again google was wrong. Someone is doing clever marketing….don’t bother keep scrolling.

The Service was excellent and the Staff was polite and knowledgeable of the menu. The pork belly was fatty and I've had better steaks elsewhere. The grilled cabbage was great.

Our meal was absolute perfection! We tried the skirt steak with the onion sauce and a filet mignon with the chimichurri, brussel sprouts, risotto and the shrimp cocktail... we were thrilled with our entire meal and savored every bite. This was an anniversary meal for us and it was exactly what we had hoped for.

Something was off during our experience at Echo and Rig. We happened to be seated just in front of the order ticketing area (not sure what it would be called). Servers were clearly stressed out and likely dealing with understaffed restaurant. Making comments like I am doing the best I can or I don’t have time. Soup was cold, yes cold. Server was gracious and replaced with warm soup and said it was on the house. It was on our bill. Steak was unevenly cooked (ny strip) and unevenly seasoned;salt on one side not on the other. Both Caesar and bib salad were over dressed. Two of our party did not receive drinks until after appetizer was served. Server was working very hard and I know it is more of a management problem but for a nice restaurant with what could be expected prices, it wasn’t a good look. However, porcini frites, mashed potatoes and cauliflower were delicious! Maybe just an off night.

I like the location it is right next to the golden 1 center which is where we were heading after lunch. The food was okay not great I got the ribeye sandwich. The sandwich was very salty and they way they sliced the meat on the sandwich made it very tough.

Weekends they only do the brunch menu. Open table didn’t show that. The manager allowed us to order off the lunch menu after we went to leave. Server spoke so quietly we could barely hear her. Drinks took a long time. Food was tasty, but steaks were raw when they came out the guest time. They were cooked right when they came back.

The service was subpar, for being a steak house the steaks were tough, no seasoning and small portions. There are many other places in Sac that have a much better steak at this price point. Way over priced, loud and just ok.

Food and service very good; however, the couple in the booth next to us was videotaping and taking photographs the entire evening. Their camera light was glaring towards our table and they were livestreaming themselves and others around them. Extremely rude, intrusive and annoying.

We always love our time here. The service is always top notch, never have to look around for our waiter. Manager personally welcomed us and talked to the kids a bit, super friendly, always accommodating. I booked reservations for two, weeks ago and last minute asked if we could bring our kids and it was no issue! Their off the menu kids options are also great! Another 10/10 Night! Erick was our server tonight and he went above and beyond! Highly recommend.

Arrived for our table on Valentine’s Day and was greeted right away. After being seated our waiter introduced himself. After ordering cocktails from the bar we did not see our waiter for some time. When he came back we ordered another cocktail and appetizers. The appetizers were oysters and burnt ends pork belly. Both were great. Then we waited on our waiter again to take our dinner order. We placed our order and it was served. My steak, a ribeye cap was cooked medium rare on one end and medium on the other. My wife had swordfish and one side was coked perfectly however the other side was not completely cooked. Then we waited again for our waiter. This time it took him quite awhile and we saw him talking to other servers in the restaurant. He came back and was going to give us our check in which I told him we would like to see the dessert menu. He brought us that and we ordered a berry shortcake in which the cake was very dry. After shelling out about $300 with tip, we were not very impressed. Even the tables on both side of us had a different waiter and was served before us even though they got their tables after we did. The couple at the one table beside us just shook their heads in disbelief at the quality of service we had received.

Food was incredible. Service was great, I believe it was Christian? (Tall guy) And everything we ate and drank was great. The staff was great as well. Only thing- it was soo hot for some reason? We had been previously and didn’t remember that. It was also very smokey smelling in the restaurant which was nice but got overwhelming at some moments.

We love Echo & Rig, but this morning’s breakfast was pretty mediocre. We had our fave watermelon, cucumber, tomato salad. Wonderful! We also tried the avocado toast with shisito peppers. I love these peppers and looked forward to how E&R would present this. It was literally an avocado sliced on top of almost toasted sourdough bread. The shisito peppers just sat next to it. Tasted ok. We also had potato pancakes. Again, literally, hash browns served with crème fraisch and applesauce. No pancakes at all, hash browns on a plate. Tasted ok. I had a mimosa made with grapefruit juice. Very good. Also cappuccinos. When we’ve had these post dinner at E&R, they’re wonderful. This seems like a pretty standard breakfast item, but the barista must have had the day off. No foam at all. More like coffee with milk. We’ll go back to Echo & Rig, but we’ll probably stick to dinner.

Went for my early birthday dinner, reservations were made so we were seated quickly! It was truly not what I expected ambience wise, it was very loud. All courses were delicious however some things took way too long to receive. Overall it was a nice place for a casual dinner and definitely not a place for a quiet evening dinner.

We stayed at the Kimpton Sawyer Hotel so this was a handy choice as the restaurant is connected to the hotel. My wife had the lamb chops which were good.....waiter didn't know where the lamb was from which I found a bit strange. She also had a good little gem salad. I had a shrimp cocktail which was just okay. I also ordered the ribeye cap which was a good cut of beef. The entree came with potato chips and I ordered French Fries as an additional item (no baked potatoes).....would have thought the waiter might have said something about having too much potato. Wines by the glass were week and I was not overly excited by the wine list. This was our second time at the restaurant and I'm not certain there's a need to return.

Good food overall. My ribeye was not evenly cooked as it was thinner on one half than the other. Perfectly cooked medium rare on one half and medium well on the other. Drinks were pretty good too. The place was noisy overall, but a few loud children made for a lessor ambiance and experience. The server was very good, friendly, and attentive except for the last part of the meal at which she lost touch for about 15 minutes when we wanted something. Overall, we’ll go back again as the food and service was pretty good, but not over the top by any means.

The restaurant is poorly designed. Extremely noisy. As in you can’t talk and be heard without shouting. It’s a relief to walk out. Steak was ok but Costco steaks are tastier. Parking is hard to find.

We went in for a business meeting and for the three of us it was our first time. From the hostess to the waiter to the manager, we were well taken care of. I make bread and smoke meats and was impressed with everything including the sauces. I also just took my daughter to Morton’s and while I like Morton’s, I found my new steak house. Will definitely be back.

In town for a confernce and stopped by to enjoy a steak dinner. From the moment I stepped in the service is top notch. The food and dessert were on a whole nother level. Great steak, shrimp, potato chips, bread, and calamari were cooked to perfection. A great set of beer selection and then left stuffed after dessert. Thanks again ! Looking forward to the location in Vegas !

Service was great. Michael was charming, informative and gracious. The rest of the staff watered and cleared without interruption or annoyance. Food was fabulous. Ambiance was nice but it was loud and the place was not that full. My only reservation. Kinda loud. Value? It’s pricey, but I felt like I got my money’s worth and I’d go back again. 4.5 stars
