Echo & Rig Steakhouse & Butcher Shop - Sacramento
We put a unique nose-to-tail spin on the traditional steakhouse, allowing diners to indulge in the best cuts of meat for incredibly approachable prices.
A butcher before a steakhouse, we use every part of the animal. We care about every animal - how it lived, what it ate, and how it was cared for.
Our 7,000 square foot space is located in the Downtown Commons Neighborhood (DOCO) in the lobby of The Sawyer Hotel. Situated on the bustling J Street corridor facing the Golden 1 Center main entrance.
We have a versatile space: a private dining room with audio/visual capability, an outdoor patio, and an outdoor bar available for rent.
Had not tried this restaurant, but am extremely glad we did. Fool was excellent but not overly priced. Service was professional yet friendly and outgoing. Menu, was really unique, in that there were many choices for entrees and openers. I would definitely make this a place to visit in the future.
The food was excellent, but I had poor service as far as delivery of a glass of wine I ordered with dinner. I almost completed my steak before it arrived!
We were a party of five, celebrating a birthday. We had one of the punch bowls to start. The punch was very tasty but the ladling was a bit awkward. I would recommend switching to a different ladle that is easier to pour into the glasses. Also, I would cut back on the ice in the bowl because our glasses came chilled, which was a nice touch. We then had several of the side dishes to start as appetizers. They were all pretty solid and quite rich for the most part. For me, the butcher fries stood out as the best of the bunch. They also brought out two loaves of bread, which was really fresh and warm. For entrees, four of us had steaks and everyone was satisfied. The ribeye cap in particular stood out as unbelievably soft and buttery in texture. Unfortunately, I opted for the salmon, which was overdone and dry. We also enjoyed a nice zin, although it was a little too chilled in my opinion. For dessert, they brought out a birthday sundae, which was delicious, and another dessert for the rest of us to share. Service was definitely top-notch. Ambiance is also nice but, like all fine restaurants nowadays it seems, it was very noisy because of the acoustics.
Service, ambiance and food were nearly perfect. Waiter made great recommendations on a couple items that were spot on.
Bone marrow carne asada was as good as reviews. Super flavorful. I had bavette cut steak with the onion dressing, delicious! Very juicy. Husband had Spencer cut with mushroom sauce. Equally delicious, very tender. Potato chips are in interesting plated item, wish there were a couple more stuffed mushrooms. Roasted broccolini was really good. Most dishes are easily shared by two. We could've shared a steak, but I have a great leftover for a salad or steak sandwich today!
Server Michelle was very nice. Didn't get the bread until after our meals came, and it was Rock hard. My skirt steak was really really good though. The mashed potatoes were pretty basic though, could've used garlic or butter in them. Kinda just tasted like some boiled red potatoes. I tried the spicy pear martini.. Really really good. Bill was like 110$ for two people though-- pretty steep for the value.
Service was very kind and friendly. Everything was perfect from the food to the decor to the vibes of the place. The food was very delicious and I would definitely recommend my friends and family here
Great restaurant with a fairly varied menu for a steakhouse, nice atmosphere and very good service, decent wine list.
This was our second time dining at a Echo & Rig, for dinner and a concert.
We were seated immediately after checking in. The gentleman who took our drink order apologized that our server would be right with us. He asked if we had questions about the menu and we said that my husband had celiacs and would be Interested in the gluten free options. He gave us a great tour of the menu, and when we ordered our appetizers, he also had a delicious watermelon and tomatoes salad brought out for us on the house because he said he felt bad for the wait. We were being leisurely, so it wasn’t a problem at all, but we very much appreciated the generosity and attention (the salad was so delicious, too!). Dinner was savory, tasty, and fresh. We even struck up a conversation with a fellow patron sitting at the table next to us, and the night was filled with good food and great company. I don’t typically cook things that my husband and I can’t both eat at home, so occasionally when we go out, my guilty pleasure is getting something that only I can eat. At Echo & Rig it’s their rich, creamy and plentiful Mac and cheese. I know there are much more refined offerings on the menu, but it’s just so good!
This place sucks and I will never go back. Don’t let the ambiance fool you just because it is in a really nice hotel right across from the G1 center. Went to brunch with some friends and three of us got the farmers market breakfast. One of us had too many potatoes, I had hardly any potatoes and undercooked asparagus, the last one of us seemed to look right, but she had to ask for salt and pepper, which we all ended up needing. None of our plates were comparable even though we got the same plate. Service was ok, but for some reason asking for condiments was hard for them. We all were underwhelmed...just not worth the price. I can get a better meal at Denny’s.
We look forward going to Echo & Rig when we stay at the Kimpton Hotel. Lunch before we check in & brunch when we leave. Food is outstanding, along with the service! I do believe that the hostesses answering the phones could be a lot nicer?
Had a wonderful evening celebrating my daughters 20th birthday at Echo & Rig Steakhouse. The service was great, very polite & fast. Felt very comfortable enjoying our dinner. Food was delicious.
As soon as we arrived we were seated with out having to wait. Our server was polite and checked on us periodically. Food was pretty good. Will definitely be back again.
Excellent steak and nice wine. Service was especially slow and the staff was attentive, but in no hurry. Took us 45 minutes to receive our lunch. And last, our bill had two glasses of wine (worth 31 dollars) that did not belong to us. Although this was promptly corrected when I pointed this out, it was an example of the lack of attention being paid today. Not sure I will hurry back again soon.
Overall food was good but skirt steak was much to salty for my taste.
Me and my friend were visiting for our birthday and chose to spend our Sunday at Echo & Rig. To say the food and service were amazing would be an understatement. I can’t recommend this place enough!!
Excellent food and service!
What a wonderful experience. It was our first time exploring Echo & Rig and we were celebrating our 4th wedding anniversary. The service was outstanding and those Brussel sprouts!! Yum! We had a wonderful time celebrating and we couldn't have chosen a better place to do it at. Thank you!
Julian, the manager promptly welcomed us in and told us a bit about the restaurant because half of my party hadn’t dined there prior to this event. He was personable, polite and patient, and even took our drink orders although he wasn’t our server. Overall experience was great, value was great and we will return to dine at this establishment.
The food was delicious, everything else was just ok for the price
Great Vibe, and the food was amazing!!!! can't wait to go again :)
Birthday Great service. Excellent food. Very relaxed and accommodating.
Excellent Service ! Great Food ! This will be my
go to through the Kings season .
Party of 10 for my fiancé’s birthday.
Great food and service. Everybody was pleased and we had an amazing time
If all you want is a great steak, then go! If you want more than just a great steak go elsewhere. Our appetizer and salads came within minutes of each other. By the time we got to our salad it was not fresh and cool. Our steaks appeared right when we started our salad so we had them take them back to the kitchen. Timing was terrible. Everything except the steaks we’re so-so. Staff, including manager, is constantly on their mobile phones. Check was dropped off before we had a chance to order our after dinner drinks and dessert (bad assumption, we always order both). There are other better places to go for a great steak and more... but I’d say at least worth a try.
We had a really great experience and the food was delicious!!! They were understanding of our parking issue and seated us quickly despite us being a few minutes late. Great service, excellent food. Highly recommend...just watch for what events are happening and prep for parking ahead.
Our server Scott was great!
My partner’s nephew and his wife and their baby came through town Saturday morning. We love taking people to brunch at Echo and Rig. Staff are great and the food is always delicious. Plus, it’s a 3 block walk from our condo, so all in all, perfect.
Steak is amazing and the Butcher Fries are to die for!!
We’re there for my birthday brunch. Even though I had requested on open table AND called to confirm they lost my request to sit outside. Even though the patio was half empty it took 30 minutes to seat us. After we were seated I ordered a drink three times until it finally came. After 40 minutes our food style hadn’t come and we walked out. Totally unsure what their problem was but it sure ruined my birthday lunch.
Came her on a Saturday night for a special birthday. Like this place and love no corkage. We had to wait over a half hour for our 6:45 reservation. No problem—we brought great wine. There were BIG WIGS. From Las Vegas corporate. Thought our service would be great. Not really !! No one really cared. Serve adequate, food fine. Missed the fun!!!
This is a great place to g
We've eaten here twice. Both experiences were average. The bread is fresh, perfectly crusty on the outside and soft and warm in the middle. 5 stars for texture. The flavor is off, not sure what they've done but it's not buttery, perhaps they used oil or shortening instead of butter. Speaking of butter. The butter offered with the bread is HORRIFIC. I would be ashamed to serve this to my guests. It's some white, nasty whipped concoction you'd get at some dive diner in the midwest. Foul and flavorless. Echo, try some decent butter, like Irish butter. It should be YELLOW, not white. My wife had the Tiger prawns and potatoes. I had the New york steak. Both meals arrived warm, not hot. This is NOT acceptable in my book and the staff clearly needs training on meal timing. However, my steak was impeccably prepared and seasoned. Outstanding. Her tiger prawns and potatoes were excellent. I also had the Asparagus & Fried Egg. Asparagus and Fried egg both perfectly prepared. This dish arrived hot.
Service was very good during both visits. The restaurant is extremely loud to the point where you must nearly yell in order to have a conversation. Not appealing, in the least. Try some softer textures or noise canceling devices. The lights are bright blue and reflect harshly off the white tile floors and the white marble tables. Not a great deal of thought went into the finish here the user experience is largely degraded from poor finish choices.
Overall, we're simply not impressed enough to return again. There are far too many excellent dining choices in Sacramento.
We won't be back again.
My husband and I came here to celebrate our anniversary. We went around 4:30 pm for an early dinner so it was not very busy. All of the staff there were so polite, welcoming and accommodating. The food was amazing. We both had steaks, filet for myself and he the rib eye; fantastic! Sides were all wonderful as well and they surprised us with a dessert ice cream on the house. Overall the experience was wonderful and the price fair for the foods, drinks and service being so amazing. We'll definitely be back.
This is a restaurant my husband normally frequent for a special dinner date. This time we brought our 11 & 13 year old daughters. They enjoyed their experience however they had less patience than my husband and I as we sipped on the bottomless mimosas. The food and the service were absolutely wonderful. Looking forward to returning.
Have been several time for brunch, lunch, and dinner. Haven’t been disappointed. Wait staff is friendly, courteous, and attentive. Save room for the turtle sundae—or any of their sundaes.
Everything was perfect for my husbands birthday. The staffs were amazing and attentive. All the foods were amazing!! We will def dine here again.
We were disappointed overall. We arrived on-time for our reservation and were told it would only be a few moments to be seated. 15 min later, we decided to order drink and 10 after that we were sat. The waiter seemed frazzled and, for first timers, it was difficult to understand from him "how" to order. When we finally figured it out, he was hard to find. The appetizers or "small" plates were just that... very small. And not enough for 4... would've been nice if the waiter explained that. Once delivered, the food was excellent, especially the meat. We decided not too stay for dessert, which was not offered to us anyway (no coffee either). Also wanted to note there was nothing particularly interesting about the decor/ambiance and it was much too loud. For the amount of money we spent, it was not a memorable experience. Many other great restaurants nearby for half the amount and twice the experience. We will not be returning.
I absolutely loved everything about Echo and Rig!!! Impeccable service, incredible food and an overall amazing experience!
Really enjoyed my Filet Mignon
Was cooked perfectly.
