Ecco Ratings and Reviews
We like the place. The service was too slow
The quality of the food was good. The serving person was very good, curtious, and awake. The table cloth was upside down & the 3rd table had one side of the table cloth very short. No attention for detail
The atmosphere was pleasant
Our dinner experience was not good at all!! The waiter rushed us so much that we couldn’t enjoy it!! He took our cheese platter before we were even finished so he could bring out our food!! We complained to someone about it and they were not nice to us either!! Ruined our night!!
I got scallops and paid a lot for them! Came with no sides or anything!!! Won’t go back!!!
Very good experience. Have read some fussy reviews, but ignored them and advise you do as well. Food inventive and enjoyable, service attentive. Only glitch was my wife's after dinner coffee was a bit tepid; our server addressed and brought out fresh, steaming-hot replacement quickly. Would definitely return.
Went to Ecco for our anniversary dinner prior to show at the Fox Theater. The server was kind enough to ask us upfront if we were on a timetable (i.e. going to the show) as I imagine this is a frequent thing for them. We told him we were and he was highly attentive to ensure we were done in time to walk to the Fox (12 minute walk). We tried the charcuterie plate - loved the selections (choose your meat and your cheese). Main entrees are limited - there are 4 options. My husband ordered the steak and I ordered the monkfish - both were delicious. Flavors were bold and fresh. Very nice beer and wine selection. We didn't have dessert but they have a nice selection of that too. Overall a very nice dinner, a bit pricey but it was a special occasion. The valet let us leave our car at Ecco until after the show, so we didn't have additional parking expense - nice bonus.
Our date night was absolutely lovely thanks to Ecco. We had the pleasure of having Stephanie as our server and she did a phenomenal job. She picked out the perfect wine for us, gave great recommendations, and guided us through the menu and the rest of our evening with ease. The squid was out of this world as well as any of their homemade pasta. Don’t miss out on dessert either!
The restaurant is beautiful. That's the best part of it. There were 4 of us. Our apps and drinks were good (not AMAZING) (2 fried goat cheeses, squid, and foie gras). The main entrees were mediocre to bad. We had 2 lamb shanks, a NY Strip, and a pasta dish (not sure which one, but this was the best entree of the group). I normally order lamb when I see it on a menu. I love the meatier taste. This lamb tasted like pot roast in an under flavored broth with hard peas in it - nobody ate much of the lamb. My husband's steak was tough even though he ordered it rare plus; it wasn't a great cut of meat. The dessert wasn't great either (apple strudel). The server was just fair; he wasn't the caliber server you'd expect at a restaurant like Ecco.
Ecco has been one of our favorite restaurants for years and will continue to be because both the food and service have been excellent every time. The menu always includes several favorites (fried goat cheese!) but is updated frequently enough to keep it interesting. This time around we were lucky enough to catch the last night of a special seasonal menu that was all about seafood, which we love. We picked a couple of appetizers, but all the mains sounded great, so we asked our server to "surprise us"; not surprisingly, we were very happy with the results.
My girlfriend and I stopped by here before going to see a Cirque show on a Saturday night. We were staying downtown and having troubles getting a taxi or Uber to get there, and as a result, ended up being 10 it so minutes late for our reservations. The host was understanding, which was a definite plus as they could've cancelled our reservations.
Between the upbeat, eclectic background music and the modern layout it gave a very warm, inviting, hip vibe.
Although you have a primary server, they are on a rotational setup which helps to get things taken care of quickly.
Food was definitely different, which I love (since I love to try new foods). We had the Loup de Mer which came out fresh and was very flavorful.
Definitely would recommend the dish if you're going to see a show afterwards - if it's still available; it was in their seasonal menu - as it was light, yet filling.
I would've given it 5 stars but there were a couple of small bones that I picked out of the Loup.
Price wise it's roughly $25 an entree plate; with an app and drinks, you're looking at a $100+ for a dinner.
Worth a shot before a night out at the theatre.
Good choice of meats and cheeses for charcuterie tray! Between regular menu and special seasonal menu there was good selection of entrees. Excellent wine selections! Server was very knowledgeable of menu and answered any questions and explained items well. Service was very attentive but we never felt rushed and we had ample time to finish each course.
Would definitely recommend this restaurant!
My friend and I decided to come to Ecco for a nice dinner before seeing The Color Purple at the Fox Theater this past Thursday evening. It had been several years since I’d been to Ecco and my friend had neve been, so I figured it would be a nice place to have an excellent dinner before the play. Although our server was pleasant, the wait time for the food was ridiculous. The restaurant was quite busy and it took over an hour for us to get our entrées. The staff was very apologetic and comped the entire meal, but it was unfortunate because we were saving our appetites for dinner and we did not end up eating until well after the play ended. My experiences at Ecco had been wonderful in the past, but I’m not sure if this was a staffing issue or just the fact that there was a lot of traffic due to the play.
I went to Ecco upon a recommendation. Very glad I stopped by. Sat at the bar, Chris took very good care of me. I ordered a glass of wine and tried their Squid a la plancha and Prawn from the new Siren menu. Wish I had more appetite because there were so many more dishes I wanted to try. I will have to go back.
The restaurant was highly recommended. I thought the food was mediocre. I had the lamb shank. The portion was minuscule and came in a bowl with a few beans and two green leaves on top, and no bone. The waiter up-sold my friend on the flat bread special. To add insult to injury, when we were finished with our meal and basically waiting for the check the waiter brought another sparkling water bottle (not requested) opened it and then charged us. I was unimpressed.
