We booked a table to have dinner before the Burlesque show only to find that the only thing on the menu was Jerk chicken. Now don't get me wrong I like jerk chicken and it was very good but we had hoped for a bigger more choice menu.
We loved the food, but the curries we ordered were a little "hotter" than "mild" which we had been told would be the case. Much, much better menu.
Wasn’t aware the menu has changed and just not a fan of the new limited menu options all with a Caribbean flare. Preferred the old menu likely under different ownership. I’m sure others would love it, just wasn’t for me.
Those chicken wings with the jerk sauce are fantastic! Kudos and much thanks to the cook!
We were disappointed particularly with the meal. The meats were over cooked and dry.
It is always a great time at eBar! The staff are incredibly friendly, the atmosphere is perfect for a social gathering, and it feels like one of the safest spaces to be queer in Guelph. So grateful for all the work eBar does to offer this kind of space, entertainment, and environment.
Amazing for just about any reason....great music, close to everything downtown. Great spot!
Rupaul’s Drag Race Holiday viewing Party hosted by the lovely Athena McQueen was a great and casual night out with a group of friends. We enjoyed a spinach and feta pizza with a few drinks. The bartender Jess always provides the best service even in busy situations. I love their drink menu made with exclusive drinks for the events and festivities. I’ll be back for more viewing parties and for Fierce, the monthly queer dance.🙌🏽🎉
Dinner with friends before the show in the eBar
It was a great evening for dinner and a movie with friends.
We had phoned to make a reservation but only got voicemail. I left a message with my phone number and time and date of reservation requested. I also made a reservation through Open Table. When we arrived we found it to be closed but with no information. Thankfully Mijiilda Bistro next door was open and took good care of us. Just go there!
My friend got stuck in Toronto traffic and was really late for our dinner reservation. The ebar manager was very kind about it and then rushed our order when she got there so we could make the Bookshelf cinema movie. It was much appreciated.
I was in Guelph for a training event and wanted to make sure I was experiencing the best of the local scene. I found The Book Shelf on Trip Advisor, and it seemed like a good way to support a unique, locally owned business. I didn't realize that the eBar and the actual book store and on different floors, and not even really related (in terms of your experience) unless you go downstairs to browse the store before you eat. I didn't have time for that, since I made a 7:30 reservation and the show started at 8:30. Also, being a Tuesday in the summer, it was fairly empty. That being said, when all of the students come back to town in September, I am sure that place is always buzzing.
The bartender/server was a very nice young man who made me feel less awkward about being by myself, and was good with beer recommendations. The atmosphere was cool, with a stage at the front, long bar/seating area, a pool table, and then a small patio outside, overlooking the larger patio of Mijiidaa (the restaurant downstairs, beside the entrance for The Book Shelf). Because of that, I enjoyed some (probably creepy?) people watching, lol. There is also another dining area inside, before the entrance to the movie theatre. I'm not sure if this part counts as my experience at "eBar" but the movie theatre was very cute and brought me back to the days before huge Cineplexes. The crowd was very mixed, and even though the restaurant was quiet, the theatre was filled. That was okay because you can order your movie ticket and reserve your seat when you're eating at eBar - so I got to go set my reservation card in the seat I wanted before people started filing in.
All in all a great experience I am glad to have had during my time in Guelph.
Our server was helpful and very personable. We enjoyed our dinners very much. Thank you!
we had a giftcard, sorry to find it restricted us to the upstairs. Next time we would use the gift card for movies only
We really like to come for dinner & a movie as it is a relaxed atmosphere. We can have an alcohol beverage because it will be 2 1/2 hours before you will leave to drive home. We prefer to have dinner in advance of the film and we get first choice at picking our seat 1/2 hour before the movie starts. Although the screen is not as large as the cinema, the audio presentation is also not as loud (I like that). I am a senior and enjoy the reduced senior movie rate that is offered by combining dinner with the movie. The menu is small and the food is very fresh & tasty. Portion sizes are appropriate and I feel comfortably satiated at the end of my meal. There is something for every one.
We never got to eat as we were booked a table during a time when dinner wasn't being served
Drinks are amazing
All the bartenders are wonderful
Favourite bar in Guelph
Great food at good value. First time there. Would definitely go again
If we are planning to see the movie, we always books dinner at the bookshelf. Dinner & Movie offers discounted movie tickets, seat reservations, very good food, quiet environment and a nice menu. I recommend the salmon. The salads are scrumptious. The menu fits my low carb diet.
Food was great. Especially loved the Arctic char and smoked fried pickles. Service was great. Also great to have our seats saved for cinema. Glitch on Open table reservation that they did not have our reservation. It all worked out though :)
The eBar was surprisingly very good. The staff were very friendly and made us feel comfortable. The food was outstanding. the price for cocktails and dinner was very reasonable.
