A bar straight out of 1920’s prohibition America, from the moment you walk in you are taken back to a much forgotten era. Once inside you can sit up at the bar, at one of our shared high tables, our low banquette and coffee table seating, or a more intimate and private booth.

Secretly hidden behind our book case, the Whisky Room owes its name to our large collection of rare and exclusive whiskies that live here. It is also home to our Bottle Lockers, where you can purchase your favourite spirit bottle from Eau-de- Vie and store it for your next visit.

    Awesome cocktail bar, moody, delicious cocktails and food. Just felt really rushed, the booking times maybe should be 2 hours, considering we ate and drank. Felt they pushed us off the table and we were on time.

    No signage out the front makes it difficult to find. Only reason we found it was because the door handle didn’t fit in. Looks good inside and staff are friendly. Drinks take a long time to get to you. We waited around 40 minutes for our first round and then they forgot or lost our second order and didn’t get out second round for almost an hour after the first. Drink have huge amount of ice and highly priced and lack originality to what you can get elsewhere. Live the theme but the execution needs work.

    Really enjoyed the experience. Took some friends who had never been. We were in a booth, so missed some of the theatre from the bar staff. There was a large group at the long table and that looked incredible - what a set up! Drinks were delicious. We only managed to have two drinks each during our allotted time.

    I sat at the which I hadn’t done before here but I like sitting at the bar elsewhere.. probably not as relaxing as elsewhere .. new staff who I felt for but she hindered the other staff and so the service was slow and awkward I thought .. but it doesn’t stop me from going again .. overall another lovely experience Thank you

    Fantastic range of drinks, lovely atmosphere and a great charcuterie board to pair. Only issue was our server, I think his name was Mike. Though, incredibly friendly he seemed to have a short attention span and was quite forgetful. Taking our questions and order/s and immediately forgetting. I’d recommend to him to slow down and actively listen, as well as finishing one task before moving on to another.

    Incredible cocktails, well-presented. Staff a bit pretentious and not very warm / hospitable (one of the first things our waiter said was “remember this is a 90min booking, we’ll need the table back after that - didn’t lend a relaxed atmosphere!). Sparse food menu and one for the dishes wasn’t available - definitely good for a visit on your way to, or way back from dinner, but not the main event.

    Definitely my favourite bar in Melbourne. Quiet, dimly lit speakeasy with the option of couches, high tables or small nooks tucked away. Wonderful, knowledgable staff and a wide selection of spectacular cocktails..

    Service was brilliant. Best mocktail I’ve ever had. Meat platter was delicious but not enough bread for price. Watching cocktails made and poured was a real experience of the senses!!

    So we booked for an early drink and dinner. Strict 90minute booking which isn’t that clear when booking - hidden in the small print. But the chef wasn’t available for first 45 mins. Then he was but just about nothing in the (already limited) food menu available anyway, just a 4 item menu of cheese, olives and cold meats. Seriously? Otherwise cocktails delicious. Ambience great. Love the ‘you’ve just got to know’ no signage on the entrance door. Would recommend for drinks but not dinner.

    The service was terrible. The waiter was abrupt and refused to serve us a 3rd drink as we were 15 min from our seating time ending, in a half empty bar. We were bluntly told no to ordering particular food/drinks with no offer of alternatives. The watered down old fashioned was not enough to salvage such a terrible service experience.

    Eau de Vie - truly a hidden gem With the speakeasy type vibe we shouldn’t have been surprised that finding the (unmarked) front door on an alley was part of the “experience” but once we found it we just loved the whole experience. Food menu is currently more limited due to Covid but the cheeses and charcuterie were divine. Add to that the fabulous cocktail menu, exotic atmosphere and this is a perfect sport for before or after an event in the CBD - a show etc. Would definitely recommend a visit

    Ordered drinks but the worker never put them through. We had another reservation at another location so we had to leave. When we enquired about our drinks (after waiting 35 mins for them) a staff member apologised and stated there was no record of our order. He tried to offer us a free shot but returned and said they had run out. Vibe inside is nice but disappointed we weren’t able to enjoy our drinks.

    Waited 15 mins at the door when there was plenty of empty tables even though we had a booking. Then once seated waited 20 mins before our order was taken then in total 40 mins before our first drink was delivered. We have been to this little cocktail bar plenty of times but I think this was our last. Service has suffered and the drinks are over priced.
