Great service, food and environment!
Food okay, very ordinary. The singer guitar player was horrible. Very amplified and sure could not play or sing. If you like to hear "baby, baby" 75 times, you will hear it here. I had the ribs and shrimp. Very ordinary. I suggest you go elsewhere.
FOH (hosting) was very disorganized - took several minutes for someone to greet us, and when they did, he seemed unsure of how to handle seating. Almost left because of it, but glad we didn’t because the food and service after we were seated was amazing!
Very good food. Very quiet at lunch. Chairs a little uncomfortable. Service pleasant but not focused. Will go back again.
The right place to end a perfect vacation day! We had the butterfish entree, it was excellent! Very attentive server. We will definitely go back.
I was really excited to try this restaurant, as I've always heard great things about Roy Yamaguchi's restaurants. I was very disappointed in my dish (Paella). There were only 3 clams, there was only a few pieces of Portuguese Sausage, and the rest of the dish was rice. The flavor was fairly good, but it was just lacking in overall substance. For $34, I expected it to be outstanding. The calamari we ordered for an appetizer had good flavor, but was very overcooked and rubbery. The aioli was outstanding though. Loved it.
Tried their Happy Hour at the Bar. Appetizers and salads were excellent. The prices were half off the posted price on the menu. We ordered the whole fried fish which we shared. It was fantastic.
Service was awesome! Our server Sasha was attentive and informative
Happy hour items and prices were excellent
We had a variety of food items all tasty
Worth a trip to Waikiki
Excellent delicious food
One drawback - way too much balsamic on the brussel sprouts/cauliflower.
Amazing modern food with the best service. Wow
I really liked the look and feel of the place. Staff were very helpful and courteous.
The main disappointment was the food. Everything we ordered was very heavily
sauced/dressed. From the ribs, to the Brussels sprouts, to the sandwiches. Everything
was sopping with sauce/dressing.
Food was mediocre. Service just ok.
Fourth time now. Lunch menu is boring. No specials. Signature hamburger is greasy and needs to determine what it wants to taste like. Beef, pork or? A good choice 80/20 beef burger would be great. Blacken ahi was cooked perfectly. Ponzu sauce is tasteless. Classic wasabi and shoyu preparation would be better. Fried rice was an abomination. Tasteless with what looked like spam bits. No onion, no shoyu, no sesame oil, no egg, no shrimp. Yuck. You guys can do better. How about lunch ribs, pork chop, kalua pig pizza, tempura shrimp, shrimp curry bake. Anyway, that’s what I think. Wasted $150 yesterday.
This was our second visit to Eating House 1849. The experience was somewhat better than previously, but service was still slow and prices high. Ambiance is okay, but noise level was excessive to the point of making conversation difficult. Food was good, but not exceptional as one might expect for the prices charged. I would recommend the restaurant to someone if they were staying close to the International Market Place and were not inclined to walk far. Otherwise, they might do better to explore other venues.
Foods were good, and service was good, too.
We paid by credit card tipping 18%, but a weiter
Exceptional service!! With severe food allergies it can be difficult to eat out, however our server Duane went above and beyond to make sure that we had a positive experience. The chef was very accommodating to all our needs, and the food was fantastic! Would definitely recommend -Eating House does not disappoint! Please open one in Seattle!!
Server was amazing - especially with gluten free options and rechecked with the chef. Tho, gluten free by choice (not allergic) our server went above and beyond to ensure gluten free options for appetizer, entree and dessert.
Excellent service. Very accommodating towards customers with food allergies. Great happy hour!
This is the third and last time that i will meet friends here. With out fail, the food takes over 40 minutes for the appetizer. Apparently there is a significant staffing problem in the kitchen. The crab salad that i had planned to order had been removed from the menu.
My wife’s VIP birthday. She was given a very nice gluten free dessert. We had the fish , clams, potatoes prawns etc bake. It was great.
I checked the menu on open table. I noticed a prefixed dinner. I called the restaurant and asked can u lower the spice for the prefixed menu. Yes she said. When we got there they never heard of the prefixed menu. Terrible the menu wasn’t there
The food was delicious and service good.
The poke bowl was great and fresh! The salmon was a disappointment - it was barely warm and served with cold noodles - wasn't worthy of a $38 dish. They gave our little one his own special appetizer and utensils and the kids menu catch of the day was delicious!
We started out with a party of 7 and ended up expanding to a party of 10. They were very accommodating about setting up a larger table for us at the last minute! Service was superb and the food was great as always. It was a perfect meal for welcoming visiting friends and celebrating a birthday! The weather cooperated and it wasn't too hot.
Our first time to Eating House was awesome! Minor move for a different table because the air condition duct above was dripping water onto the table.
Otherwise, service was outstanding. Our server was very descriptive of our choices. Offered great recommendations, very friendly and accommodating. Food was done to perfection as requested. Food tastes AMAZING and as our servee put it, "life changing". And it certainly was. As simple as Kauai Prawns dish was, the flavors were incredible. I want more!!! Looking forward to going back.
Food and server were great! We were surprised at the reasonable prices-especially bc of the location.
variety of menu was excellent. the food was very good and the prices were reasonable
The Eating House has become a favorite for special occasions for our family. The service is always excellent, waiters and assistants are incredibly attentive. A special thank you to Kimmi for making our birthday celebration memorable.
Great food, excellent service, would recommend the paella and ramen and bao buns.
Been to the other Roy’s decided to try the eating house and was a great value and food. They had a nice change of food from the other Roy’s that was more casual. Food was great and service was great.
Our party of four enjoyed a very nice meal.....and wine at this establishment.
The manager, Teves Freitas paid close attention to ensure that our visit was a pleasant one.
The food was great, two of us splitting the Extravaganza ( 22 oz Porterhouse steak AND crab )…..more than enough for the two of us. The wine list has a nice selection for your particular taste. The service was attentive, with staff "follow-up" timely, but not overbearing.
We live on Maui, but visit Oahu regularly...…...we will return to Eating House 1849 for some more enjoyable times.
The service was good, ambiance was nice (you forget that you're at a mall). We had the house salad which was "interesting"; it was good but there was a lot going on in it. The brussel sprouts and cauliflower was tasty. We ordered the paella and was sorely disappointed. For $34, it only had 3 small shrimp and 3 clams, sausage was cut into tiny bits and the sauce was lacking. It was soggy rice in tomato sauce. For dessert we had the homemade shortcake and berries that was really good. So overall, the experience was fine but the entree was a let down.
Very disappointed considering this was a “Roy’s” restaurant. We ate at Roy’s Waikiki the night before and pricing at Eating House 1849 is the same high prices at Roy’s with much less ambiance with very average seating. My wife’s meal was missing a major ingredient and that should have been mentioned when ordering the meal. No discount or anything offered for this incomplete meal which was very disappointing considering the pricing. If you are going to eat at a “Roy’s” restaurant stick with the higher standard Roy’s Waikiki location.
Food was very good. A little pricey for lunch, but portions were generous. Although it wasn’t too crowded the service seemed a little slow, but overall a good experience.
I received a phone call at exactly 2:15 stating if I wasn’t there and order within 10 mins, the kitchen was doing last call.
I felt that was incredibly unprofessional, unpleasant and rude. The fact that other guests were seated after us and that I could’ve made a 2:30 pm reservation didn’t validate the hostess’ call or statement. Upon arrival, she was rude. I wouldn’t return. For the price, I expect to feel appreciated and I did not.
The food was outstanding. Too bad the face of the restaurant ruined the experience and we won’t return.
Ramen and salad entrees were not tasty as one of my dining mates did not even finish half of her portion
The Most amazing service.... and the Ahi and Won Ton Chips a Classic.... Thank You for another wonderful experience.
