Second time here. Had prawns and risotto. It was tasty aside from the 15 pieces of rock hard tooth breaking pieces of risotto in it. Would have told the waiter but food runner dropped off food and server didn’t show until a while after we were done eating. Partner had short rib and it was good but a touch hard in places.
Average for the prices charged. No service however and place was not full. Won’t make a third visit.
Excellent food, service and atmosphere! The dinner salads are shareable. Chicken and prawns were very good.
Thanks for a great dinner. We came during the dinner rush, so service time was expected to be semi slow. This time Cant complain. Thanks again for a great dinner.
Service and food were decent. I am not sure I would dine here again.
Staff very attentive to my allergies
The food and services was great.
Great restaurant for steaks , Going back next month.
We arrived 15 minutes prior to our reservation and we're seated 15 minutes after. Host staff, including manager, needs to be replaced with a team that knows good customer experience, especially in Hawaii. They didn't smile or seem friendly in the 30 minutes we waited and they interacted with others. However, our servers were very friendly and knowledgeable. It took 45 minutes for our 3 entrees to arrive and Ramen was barely warm. Food and drink quality and presentation was great, although expensive.
Overall great experience. Food excellent and great presentation. Our waitperson was a little cool at first but warmed up and by end of meal laughing with us. Provided overall great service. Definitely eat there again.
Birthday dinner. Very enjoyable. We have eaten here in the past. We have also eaten at the Eating House in Kauai. We have enjoyed our dining at both locations. Excellent food. Very flavorful. Fine service.
We were actually celebrating our friends engagement... the Staff was so supportive... and handled the event with ease in a professional manner.... Love this restaurant... the smooth sounds of the entertainment vocal sounds were amazing.... Thank You Diva for the pupu’s....
A special Thank You to all the Staff for a wonderful evening.
Was blown away surprised how good this was. My wife is a vegetarian and the kitchen made her a special tofu dish. Kids were happy which isn’t easy. Service was exceptional. Well done.
Great food and service.
The only negative is that you can hear vehicles from the adjacent parking garage and the Harley’s were particularly loud.
Great food and service! The crispy fried cauliflower and brussel sprout appetizer was amazing!! Will be back soon.
We enjoyed everything except our main dish took far too long to arrive. It would have been nice if a server informed us that our burger was going to be longer. They did mention at the end of our meal that they were going to surprise us because of the wait.
Overall we would most definitely go again.
The food and drinks were great! Only downfall was that the server forgot to bring our entrees and my boyfriends dessert....it’s ok she was nice and it was busy. I’ll come back when it’s slow. But I’d rather go to strip steak or Kona Grill next time to be honest.
We're enjoying the revamp of the menu items. We really liked the New Year's prix fixe menu! Our family really enjoyed their meal from the brussel sprouts starter, kampachi entree & chocolate souffle dessert.
We love this place. It's very casual. Very kid-friendly. It's the best of all the dining options at
the Intl Market Place. Staff is very friendly. We loved our server. Good for tourist as well as
locals. We had the ribs, chopped salad, deep fried snapper and dessert was out of this world. Had the chocolate soufflé which is one of Roy's signature desserts. We were there on Dec 30th on a staycation.
We enjoyed the restaurant, especially dessert - Chocolate Souffle. Our Seafood Paella was served without clams and we were provided a small plate of clams 15 minutes later. A second Seafood Paella order was perfect. We also had the King Salmon and Kampachi dishes and they were delicious with small portions. Calamari was also good.
This was perfect for our anniversary date! Perfect atmosphere, a nice balance between fancy and casual, and amazing food!
Best burger in town. Brussel sprout app was also delicious. Our waitress Tanya was fantastic, very attentive and cheerful. She gave us excellent recommendations for local stuff. Would highly recommend.
Server was quite accommodating...we had a Gluten Free person with us
Dishes really had very little taste.
Just a bit larger portion for the fish selection would be good.
Roy's is always impressive! loved the food, every bite! k.its looked it too!
Best food so far in Hawaii!
We had Catch of the day, Burger, Kids meal and salmon and 2 desserts . Excellent quality all of them!
Nice place not as loud as most places in Waikiki
The food at Eating House 1849 was excellent. It really brought back memories of the best in local comfort food. Our table shared the pork belly bao buns. Those just melted in your mouth. Oysters were fresh and went really well with ponzu and hot sauce. I had the misoyaki butterfish. It was so flavorful that I just ate small morsels of the fish at a time to savor the taste. Malasadas were really light with just the right amount of sweetness.
Service was really attentive and enthusiastic as well. Everyone smiled and looked happy to be there. And, of course, parking is really easy at the International Marketplace. Overall, just a wonderful experience. Definitely will come back.
We had reservations for a group of seven for an early Christmas Day lunch. Our waiter was very friendly and took our orders but we had to wait over an hour and twenty minutes for our meals to arrive. There seemed to be very little to no concern over the length of time it took to deliver our food. Other patrons who arrived well after our party were served and left before our meals arrived. We ordered dessert and waited almost a half hour before asking for our tab and then our dessert arrived. The kitchen was obviously understaffed but no explanation was given for the exceptionally slow service. We felt sorry for our waiter. Perhaps employees would have preferred to have the day off and some chose not to come in to work on Christmas day. Very disappointing.
Waited a long time for the food. Expected more wow in food
lovely food but we were sat in front of a closet that held linens, our meal was continually interrupted.
My family and I dined here to celebrate Christmas. The staff was extremely attentive and when they confirmed our reservation earlier in the day, they inquired whether our two 4-year-olds needed booster seats and had them ready at our table. Our table also had a bench which they were happy to switch out for individual seats since my elderly father would be more comfortable with that seating arrangement. The Sunday that we dined, there was live music which was added to the ambiance.
The cocktail menu was inventive with many handcrafted drinks. I tried their signature Hawaiian Martini and the Yokahama Sour, both were tasty and refreshing. The dinner menu was also diverse with many plates that were shareable. After sharing the chop and beet salads, we shared the Eating House Extravaganza (the 22 oz. Porter House and King Crab) which was enough for two of us, one being my brother with a voracious appetite. The meal did not come with drawn butter but the server was happy to provide it. My husband and father both enjoyed rib-eyes from the Signature Steaks menu and were completely satisfied. The children's menu was okay, with all the favorite staples (spaghetti, fish and furikake rice, etc.). I guess you cannot get too creative with picky eaters. :)
All in all, it was an enjoyable dining experience with Eating House 1849 being as casual or formal as you want to make it.
We enjoyed the different dishes prepared. The food was delicious. However, the food was too salty.
The service was slow.
Excellent meal and Nicole gave excellent service!
The restaurant is on the fourth floor of a retail shopping mall across from Waikiki Beach. The rooftop is nicely landscaped with plants and, of course, the sky and weather were wonderful for covered alfresco dining.
The fish crudo appetizer was amazing. The fish was very fresh and the sauce and garnishes enhanced the flavors nicely. There portions were large. Even the appetizers could have been an entree with a small salad or for those with a lighter appetite.
We also tried the chicken roll appetizer. Our teenage son enjoyed this dish. We found the pickled accompaniments to be very flavorful.
We had the burger and angry generals chicken sandwich as entrees. Both entree portions were large and both dishes were very flavorful.
Overall a pleasant and tasty alternative to the hotels or chain eateries in the area. Recommended without reservation.
We came for dinner at 8pm on a Saturday night. Restaurant was busy but not jam packed. Atmosphere had a nice mellow vibe, wait staff was attentive without hovering. Sasha was terrific in helping us decide what to order and really made this a great experience for us. Try the brussels and cauliflower appetizer and signature butterfish with rice medley, or make sure you bring your appetite if you want to tackle the beef and wild boar burger. From the dining area you can watch the goings on in the kitchen behind the glass.
International Market Place is a really nice venue that deserves a visit if you haven't seen it and has my favorite parking structure in all of Waikiki!
The food was so delicious. Ribeye was perfect! Prawns so good! Service was exceptional. Get the lava cake for dessert.
We really enjoyed ourselves here. The service was excellent and the food good. Although from a value perspective, one of our guest ordered the short rib and received a nice cut. The other guest who ordered the short rib probably had less than 2 oz of edible beef on it. Shocked that the restaurant even served it. The guest did not want to complain so she did not. However, since I paid for the dinner, I wanted to put it out there.
The food was very good as was the service, the only drawback is we were seated in an open air shopping mall environment. We had 3 appetizers, 4 entrees and not a single complaint about the food itself.
Good food, good selections, reasonably priced. Servers were very nice as well as professional.
Overall the food and service were great. Baby back rib appetizer wonderful, steaks really good but my paella, although great flavor, could have used a little more seafood/meat and a lot less grease; all was good until I had to finish the oily remains at the bottom of the skillet. I did not say anything because the rest of the food, service and experience were great. Would definitely go back again!
