Eastern Standard Ratings and Reviews
Strip Steak was barely edible- very very tough. Most of it was left uneaten.
Salads were good but not great. Not much flavor at all.
The Escargot was amazing however.
Cocktails were delicious.
Our sever - Connor- was fantastic and made up for the mediocre meal.
Great and knowledgeable waitstaff. I stay here intermittently from out of town and this is the place I trust to learn about cocktails. The waiter was very helpful guiding my selection. Apps are yummy and Brussels sprouts a must ( converted my 18 year old daughter into a brussel sprout fan!). I ordered the trout which was a disappointment- my daughter’s baked pasta dish was fantastic and I had been the night before and everyone love their meal so in general can’t go wrong - highly recommend ( except the trout!)
Just love Eastern Standard and our group had a great meal, for the most part. Great cheese plate, Sunday special meatball dish and the French Dip were all great. Just stay away from the onion soup which was really disappointing but everyone has a bad night occasionally so maybe it was just a one time problem. No flavor, the bread was hard and a layer of some type of grease floated on top.
Great service, cozy atmosphere and overall experience was great.
Sommelier went their way to please, he was determined to please. I was really surprised that he took an open bottle wine back just to make sure we were satisfied with the wine. Excellent service. Salute to the Sommelier, i hope we did not get you into trouble.
Food was not as impresaive as the last 2 times we have dined there. The escargot went cold shortly after arriving. The shellfish platter had small oysters. Steak was fantastic. Service was impeccable, hostess was fabulous. Crowd control needed help, some guests we're leaning near our table.
This was our first time at Eastern Standard. We loved the energy of the place, the friendly staff and the good food. We ate dinner at the bar and the bartender was top-notch in his friendliness and service. We enjoyed it very much and will return many times.
The restaurant was so loud as to be uncomfortable. Lunch there is fine but dinner is overshadowed by the noise. Our server got the music turned down once which helped but the volume went back up (largely a solid rock beat was all that could be heard over the shouting conversations at tables and bar.
It was quiet when we arrived. Reservation was at 3:30. Waitress took awhile to come over to greet. Drinks took 15 minutes and did not come at the same time. Once we ordered food that took 30 minutes for app and 40 minutes for dinner. Food was good. Had to get up to find waitress to pay check. Again it was not busy. Too bad. We have had great meals and service there before.
We were in Boston to rendezvous with friends and do some sightseeing. We stayed near Kenmore Square and didn't want to go too far for dinner one night, so we wound up at Eastern Standard. The food was great, from the classic French (onion soup and escargots) to the more exotic (smoked pork blade with black barley) to dessert (a fabulous caramel bread pudding).
The atmosphere and service were very good. I found absolutely no reason not to go back. Oh, the drinks were good too and the prices were reasonable.
I went with a date for Saturday Brunch with moderate expectations and was let down. Pros: nice decor and ambiance, decent food. Cons: poor service, a bit loud.
The menu looked good, and we had quite a variety; eggs and an English muffin, grilled cheese with fries, and most notably the mussels. Everything was good, but not great. The mussels were the best dish by far, and it was a large serving for sharing. What put a damper on the brunch was the poor service. We had an awkward and less than attentive waitress. Water glasses seemed to be left unfilled for too long, didn't feel like we were checked on, and we had to wait for the bill after requesting it for probably 15 minutes.
I am a regular at Eastern Standard for all three meals as it is close to my work place. I am never disappointed in the service or the quality of the offerings. I have had almost everything on the menu and am never disappointed. I even think their chicken dish is awesome. I am writing not after having had a early dinner before seeing Bob Dylan concert with my wife and oldest son. The dinner was great but the escargots with butter biscuits was off the hook. I love escargot and this was my favorite serving anytime anywhere!
