LOVE ES...but our waitress was not attentive at all. I've never had that experience before. We were there for 3 hours and at one point took a half hour for a fresh drink - and the restaurant was only about 20% full. Never had that experience, but overall food was excellent, always is.
A nice sidewalk cafe vibe in Kenmore Square, on a sunny summer Sunday you couldn't have a nice place to enjoy a delicious brunch with a bubbly cocktail.
The food was absolutely incredible, and the service was extremely fast and overall we had a splendid time. The only thing I will say is that we had an extremely awkward waiter who made the dining experience a bit uncomfortable. Other than that, the restaurant was amazing and I would definitely recommend to a friend.
Great place to dine before Fenway if you don’t want to eat hotdogs. The device was great never rushed and food was delicious . One salmon , one bass and one NY strip!
Ribs were very sweet and greasy. The sides were too small. The dish was out of proportion. Shrimp cocktail and the calamari were excellent.
Great meal and drinks! Will come back for sure!
Have been here a few times . Going back on 7/25 and Sept. 6th. Great food and
Phenomenal as usual. Perhaps the best rib eye I have ever eaten. The Mac and cheese was to die for! I’ve never had a bad experience!!!
A bit noisy and pricey, but good service and appreciate that you are open late
Delicious meal in a great location right around the corner from Fenway Park. Staff was attententive and food came very quickly, even though they were quite busy at the time.
Great service and delicious food as usual!!
Awesome food & drinks. Great place to eat before the game, but make a reservation!
Love coming here! Great burgers and breakfast sandwiches. I also love the pastries served for brunch. Although I don’t eat oysters I have brought many guest here that absolutely loved them. Food is always fresh and the fries are soooo good!
July 4. Outside table perfect place for people watching and Fireworks. Seafood platter, bottle of champagne followed by baked rigatoni.
They have a half bottle red wine I love, and they are very accommodating with special requests of fruit to have with the wine—and I really appreciate that.
Service was mostly great but the waitress kind of disappeared for a long time from mid-evening. Mostly quiet but a young child was crying loudly for a long time.
There was a mouse while I was. Have dinner, they kept my debit card
A place to get a burger.
The music was TOO LOUD. Otherwise everything was very good. But we had a difficult time having a wonderful conversation in your beautiful surroundings, good food and friends.
A really fantastic meal.
Glad to see the Damariscotta oysters among the offerings. So good we re-ordered.
Fabulous wine list that included bottles not always seen. We had a beautiful Rhône Syrah.
We had absolutely the best service ever in a restaurant. A special touch was having a manager come to our table and offer to keep the plate of one of my guests warm while she was away from the table. Never had that experience before.
This experience was disappointing. We ordered drinks "dirty" (olive juice) but there was nearly no taste of olive; also the olives on the stick had no flavor. My Atlantic salmon was very good, but my wife's monk fish had weird sauce that didn't go well with the fish or vegetable. My side order of cauliflower came out room temperature. Spicy seasoning was good but suffered from the temp. We decided not to order dessert. We told the server about the monk fish and it was removed from our bill. So overall our experience was less than we expected for a Boston restaurant.
A great spot for meeting with old friends before a Red Sox game. I've been here four times under these circumstances and it's excellent.
So fun! Delicious food, mouth watering oysters, excellent server. And all in the location where Kenmore Square’s beloved Rathskeller used to be! Fantastic!
Great spot to grab excellent food and cocktails before a Sox game!
Wonderful atmosphere, great service, great food. We split an order of the mussels which were excellent. My spouse had the salmon which was flavored with orange flavor, a bit of heat. I had the streak frites.
Yes it was after a Red Sox game, BUT
We had a reservation and still waited 30 minutes to be called and then another 10 to 15 minutes when it turned out they didn't actually have a table. When they did it was wedged in between other tables.
Probably the worst Prime Rib I've ever had. Very strange sauce overwhelming the taste of the meat. Wonder why?
One of our party wanted a frozen daiquiri - turns out that the bar couldn't / wouldn't make any frozen drinks.
Dined here after attending ball game at Fenway on the recommendation of a friend. The ambiance is nice and our server was attentive. However the food was just okay imo. I had the monk fish which lacked flavor. The broccoli rabe was extremely bitter, I am normally a big fan of broccoli rabe but this was just not tasty. My husband had the steak frites which he enjoyed. Since I was underwhelmed by my meal we opted to head to the north end for some dessert instead.
Great drinks, great food, fun atmosphere, always consistent!!
I have never had such amazing service at a restaurant! Waiter was professional, engaged in excellent conversation when asked and discreet about taking away plates, serving, etc. He explained and recommended items for vegetarians, paired drinks, and overall was knowledgeable about the menu. He made our dining experience a night to remember.
Great service. Food came out quickly and was tasty
Four of the six people at our table ordered steak frites medium and they all came rare. We did not have time to send back as we were getting to a show.
In addition, I ordered a vodka martini and wanted blue cheese olives. The bartender did not have either vodka I asked for (No Grey Goose or local favorite Bully Boy????) and quite frankly was not friendly at all. He also said he had no blue cheese olives which was understandable. When I got my martini the olives were just bland and not flavorful at all.
Very disappointed, will not be back.
have heard about your restaurant for many years but this was the first time i tried it. everything was great to include outstanding service, hard to find these days!! the food was amazing and the ambiance, great! thanks.
ES is one of my favorite places to go in Boston - it's near the Kenmore T stop and bus station and easy to bike to from Brookline. It can get quite busy, so sometimes there is a wait, even if you have a reservation. We waited 20 mins this last time for our table, which sucked because we were hangry. A free prosecco or apology would have gone a long way :) But I will be back for sure! Great bar and outdoor seating area. Thank you.
We had a great time before going to see dido at house of blues.
I would recommend to a friend solely for their food and ambiance and just hope that they get better service than we did. I enjoyed the burger and tuna salad and appetizers. Did not like the steak tartare but it might be an acquired taste. However, we received less than satisfactory service. Besides coming by once to take our order and then once give us our check, I can't recall any other interactions we had with our waitress. She wasn't rude or anything, just not very attentive and left us with a sub-par experience.
ES checks all the boxes always.
They never seem to have enough waitstaff. We were kept waiting at every stage. We waited excessively long times to order food, drinks and to get our bill. The food is reliably good, but the service is frustrating. Note the servers were not the problem, they just had way too many tables.
Encountered the rudest most obnoxious waiter we’ve ever experienced and management were ok about dealing with it, but would expect them to do more.
Recommended by an associate and was not disappointed. Best place to stop while in Boston for a fine-dining experience that manages to still feel comfortable (not stuffy.) They do not have a huge menu, which is a huge strength, because what they do have on their menu they do the very best they can. Will return when I'm in Boston in the future!
Our waiter Jared was excellent during the entire meal, even packing our take home box in a most efficiently neat manner. The Calamari was delicious with good taste, crunch and not greasy. The marrow bone appetizer had hardly any marrow in the bones and was instead filled with a chopped bacon mixture. I would have love more marrow in a “marrow” bone. The brisket special Thursday dish was tasty but very fatty and the spatzle was too soft and extremely salty. My chicken dish was cooked to perfection with the chicken tender and moist. However, the fava beans with marrow were so so salty that I could not eat many of them. The garlic bread pudding was nicely done. My son had the pasta dish which he enjoyed and the house salad was fine. Overall, we enjoyed the experience as the atmosphere was pleasant and nicely appointed. However, we would surely love it more if the dishes had much less salt.
Hope this feedback is helpful. We would love to return but would be concerned that the foods might be too salty again. Thanks for your interest in our experience.
