Eastern Standard is my favorite restaurant in Boston, for special occasions and everyday nights out. It's always perfection, including, as I found out this time, their mocktails. Can't recommend it highly enough.
I would eat there every day!
Eastern Standard was great except for the noise level. The wait staff were friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. The wine list was interesting - we chose a Morgon which was excellent and modestly priced. The food was outstanding. Three of us had the rabbit leg - perfectly cooked, tender and delicious. Others were equally pleased with the smoked pork and salmon.
The only negative for me - and a big one - was the roaring noise level. I do not understand the recent trend toward loud restaurants. Conversation was very difficult, making the meal less enjoyable. Patrons don't want this noise despite what proprietors seem to believe.
I think it's a fun spot. The food was good, but pricey. And probably because of the high ceilings, it was just a little too noisy for me.
I've always liked Eastern Standard very much. The food is consistently good and the atmosphere is fun and lively. I would love a vegetarian option to be added to the menu. It's a great "go to" for lunch or dinner.
Birthday. Food was not very good
Always an enjoyable meal here. Don't miss the bread pudding!
We had a great dinner here for my husband's birthday! The food was awesome. At one point he thanked me for making the reservation and said that he really needed a nice night out! The only thing I could not get over was the music! It was so so lame and bad and killed the ambiance. Normally I never notice this detail while out but it kind of made it feel like a fancy Apple Bees. Get cooler tunes!
Still our favorite craft cocktail and spot for a friendly meal with friends. Super knowledgeable bartenders and wait staff. Warm, energetic, and friendly atmosphere. The rigatoni will never disappoint! Other menu choices are always a hit. Great new Spring cocktail menu.
Great food and drinks. I thought the service, both at the bar and at our table, was sub par for a restaurant of this caliber. Bartender had an attitude and our server made several mistakes on our order.
We very much enjoyed the food, especially the delicious, unusual cheese board. But the superior, friendly service was over the top! Thank you, Eastern Standard!
A very nice restaurant. We had a dinner for three there. It is quiet so it is possible to make a conversation.
Food in general is very good. There is also a nice option to order a carafe of wine.
Beautiful restaurant with great food and excellent service. Would definitely go back there again!!!! The spaghetti meal on Sundays is outstanding!!!
We’ve wanted to eat at Eastern Standard for a while so arrived with high expectations. The service was fantastic and the atmosphere was really nice - old school, club like with leather and dark wood. The table was a good size and despite a crowded room the four of us could easily carry on a conversation. The menu was great - lots of options. The food was good, but not great.
When you were at this restaurant, I’d highly recommend to try foie gras with truffle. It is very worth it and will bring you to fly high
A favorite spot. Our server was exceptional and patient. Will be back for the ceviche.
Great spot for brunch!
My sister & I had an amazing lunch at Eastern Standard & our server was beyond top notch. We had a fabulous conversation about wine, and he shared some of his favorite rosés with us, writing them down on a card so we could remember them. I have dined here many times and always have a first class experience, but this time really kicked it up a notch. Thank you for doing such a great job setting the bar for how a restaurant should truly provide a stellar guest experience.
We had the seafood tower and didn't care for smoked lobster; the french onion soup, in my opinion, was well below that which one would expect. They took it off my Bill, which was cool, but it doesn't make it a good product for such a fine dining experience. The staff were GREAT though...great group of hard working people.
Great food, great service !
Our first time at the restaurant and we really loved the place! Great ambiance and food. Service as a bit slow but great for a laid back Sunday evening! Awesome place. We loved it.
It is a good place for a special occasion dinner. Our only disappointment was that it was Easter Sunday and there was nothing in the menu that reflected the day. Because it was a 3:00 reservation we thought we would have the possibility of choosing from the dinner menu, but we didn't. After we got over that disappointment, we enjoyed the rest of our time together. The wait staff was especially attentive.
This restaurant was amazing. The service was exceptional and the food was delicious!
Really good meal at Eastern Standard. Two of us ordered the special (Wagyu meatballs and pasta). The meatballs were well prepared and the pasta was perfectly cooked. The other person had the steak frites with the NY Strip. It was cooked exactly as asked (med-rare) and seared nicely on the outside. Fries were great!
Great food, great service
A tasty well-served meal!!
Excellent excellent excellent
Dinner was very good.We had the foie gras, bonemarrow, scallops and a burger. The menu had many choices I would like to try.The restaurant is inviting, has a great bar and ambiance. We can only recommend it!!!
Eastern Standard is hands down one of the best restaurants in Boston.
Got seated right away, good service and good food. A little noisy.
Good food, good desserts, and good service. I definitely would go back there again. 😊
We've been to Eastern Standard a number of times. We've gone back because it's usually great, but this last visit left us feeling a bit disappointed. We ordered drinks and it took almost 20 minutes to get them. The waiter seemed to be out of sorts, and the food seemed to be sloppily put together. Too bad. Not sure if I'll return.
Really lovely anniversary dinner!
Great late night dining!
Seated at a noisy table in the middle of the room. Waited about 45 min after apps were served for our dinner. Not much service to the table.
Fantastic as always! Great food and perfect service!
Wonderful dinner tonight at Eastern Standard, located within the Hotel Commonwealth. The trout and accompaniments were deliciously complimented by a vouvray, expertly recommended by Katrina, while my companion happily devoured a rigatoni dish. Everything, including ambience, service and food was flawless. We did have a 5:00 reservation and it was quite full upon leaving thereafter, so I can’t comment on later service efficiency. The bar and dining areas are comfortable with plenty of room between tables and booths but I imagine the bar area could get noisy as it looks like a popular meeting place. Strongly recommend.
Great food and service and good place to linger over conversation. Somewhat noisy but staff all attentive and food delicious. Would definitely return!
Thank you for making our day special
As always, dinner at Eastern Standard was phenomenal! From the service to the food, everything was great. Oysters are the best in town. Calamari was not too heavy and was super flavorful. The prime rib (Saturday special) was unreal and the pork blade was perfect for a cold winter night.
Get a whiskey smash - it's the best!
