Lovely brunch spot.
Delicious food, excellent service.
Our server Chen was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and got us very excited about our food choices- which were all excellent (especially loved the Rohan duck special). Nestore the manager helped us pick out a great bottle of wine in our price range and checked in several times to enhance our experience. Will definitely return for future meals
Special of the night was venison- no flavor, tough. Cioppino had little flavor, loaded with squid. One scallop, one small piece of fish and two medium sized shrimp. They did take the venison off our bill. Wait staff was excellent despite the entree recommendations which fell flat for us. Oysters were good as well as the special beet salad. Didn’t want dessert. Too pricey for the food. Sorry - had wanted to try this place for long time but won’t be back.
Fantastic Valentine’s Day After dinner. I love the visual experience here, the service is always top notch and the food choices excellent as well. This night Eastern Standard exceeded even our prior experiences. All food choices were great; Steak Frites, Short Rib, Moules Frites and the Rigatoni. What pushed us over the top was the wine experience, we ordered a Zin we knew and liked and when that was gone Vanessa the Sommelier recommended a Tempranillo that was absolutely delicious. We had an enjoyable conversation and she was just great! Well-informed, charming and gracious. We’ll return!
We always come to eastern standard when staying in the hotel commonwealth , the food is always excellent, the service top notch, we love going to the bar after a play
The bartenders make drinks the way you’d expect a drink to be made . Hats off to all the servers you can tell they work as a team .
Great restaurant unfortunately our server seemed to be impatient and unfriendly.
one of our favorite restaurants in the city. Always busy and fun!
We had THE BEST waiter
The drinks were excellent and creative. The dessert was outstanding. The entrees were lackluster at best. Over cooked scallops were rubbery, entree options were not creative, and dishes were over priced.
Thanks for making the visit to Boston, Valentine's dinner and evening so special...…..despite the freezing temperature.
Always a great experience. Thanks for the good time!
The food and ambiance are great. The service staff are easily frazzled and disorganized.
My hamburger was overcooked and so i spoke to the waiter who saw the burger and noted that it was overcooked. He then asked if i would like to send it back?? i responded, yes of course as that was why i called him over. My wife had the scrambled eggs with sausage. The sausage came out cold as it did for my friends who ordered the same item. I had to call the waiter over for more coffee, he only checked on us because i called him over due to the overcooked burger. We have been to ES many times and this was just awful food with poor service. We will not be returning to ES
Always a great experience
Amazing service and food!
Thanks to Hannah who was our service for the last night - everything was fast and nice
Very limited & pedestrian menu. Out of the weekly special by 8pm. Fabulous bar & bar bites. Great service at the bar. Ordered steak frites. Steak came out some perfectly but frites were a tad underdone. When I mentioned this, a large new piping hot platter of frites came out to replace the others.
Always good. One of my key go to places.
The problem was the food. I ordered the scrambled eggs. The sausage was not freshly cooked. It must have been sitting around for some time as it was very tough and almost impossible to cut. The potatoes were lukewarm and not crispy. The toast was a very small slice of bread that was hard, stale and cold.
The chef brought out some pastries and desserts because it was my anniversary with my girlfriend, a beautiful and amazing touch by someone who didn't have to do anything at all
Had a great time. Nice size salads & entree portions.
Always my favorite spot. The staff is so great and the food is always excellent
Lots of waitstaff so didn’t know who to ask
Perfectly cooked each plate.
So E.S. for me is easy. I teach at BU. It's convenient. The food and wine are good. The thing that always gives me pause is the noise level. When we come for business, we need to hear people at the table and it's always predictable in the decibel level. I understand you want an "energetic" feel, but it's sure awful for dinner.
Great spot, connected to hotel but also with its own entrance, we had breakfast and selections were great, service was fast, polite and not annoying, eggs were cooked like I had asked, prices very reasonable. I would go back! Thanks!
A good place for brunch. Waitstaff stretched a little too thin and messed up our orders and was hard to find to rectify it, but all was well in the end. We would return.
disappointed that they changed the menu so that you can only get certain items if you come for "brunch" before 9 am. we had to ask for a "special favor" to get some of these items at 10.
We've been here many times over many years and always enjoy it! Food is very good -- there were 6 of us and everyone very much enjoyed the food. Wait staff as always was great! It has to be a good spot to keep us coming back off and on over the past 8 years!
Always a favorite place. Excellent martinis, good variety on menu, outstanding service.
Food and drinks are always amazing!! We were late for our res which I try not to do
A vegan option would have been appreciated. Pasta with veggies just doesn’t cut it anymore. Service was nice.
Eastern Standard seems to have slipped somewhat, with respect to food quality. The drinks program remains outstanding, but the food was rather mediocre. I had also included in my reservation information that we were celebrating my daughter's 21st birthday and there was no recognition of that whatsoever. I will add that the server was great about bringing over another server who was knowledgeable about the sipping rum when we were making our dessert selections. Overall, I would still go but probably just for cocktails and wine at this point. The 20 years is showing with respect to the food, unfortunately.
Great experience on a busy Saturday evening. Food and drink were both excellent. Was moderately noisy, but excellent service made up for any negatives! Highly recommend. . .
Excellent food - excellent service !
Love this place! From the hospitable knowlefgable staffand relaxed vibe, to the awesome wine list including by the glass. Food was delicious, although the prime rib was a tad chewy. Accompanying mushroom demi was deliciously rich and mashed potatoes light and creamy though. Had Vin Santo pairing with apple crepes for dessert, really nice combo.
I have always loved going to Eastern standard with my group of friends. They always have such great food options. But this time, it was one of the worst experiences I ever had. The spaghetti pasta that we ordered was so bland. Chicken was tasteless. I had ordered lobster roll which was 31$ and the lobster was so bad. The bun was stale. I am glad we didn't order any cocktails and just opted for bottled beer otherwise I don't want to guess how the cocktails would be made. I was planning to have a cozy dinner with my close friends where we could relax and have good food. But this was exactly the opposite thing.
Disappointing. Cioppino was skimpy.
Went above and beyond for a birthday! Food was amazing and reasonably priced. Great location and ambiance!
The problem that I had at Eastern standard was that I ordered a salad, and the topping on the salad was literally in edible. The topping consisted of strips of plastic or wax that resembled cheese. My wife ordered the same salad that I ordered and she received actual cheese Which was edible. Mistakes happen at restaurants. I fully understand that. What was especially disappointing is that the wait staff and management seemed completely on interested when I pointed this problem out to them. I think it’s safe to say that I will not be returning to this restaurant. Ever. I also know that this is the only time in my life I have given a negative review to a restaurant.
We love everything about it, the drinks, the service, the ambiance, but the food is never up to par other than their bone marrow and steak tartare.
