The East Pole Fish Bar
I thought the food was overpriced and underwhelming. Not nearly as good as the regular east pole. I won’t go back.
EAST POLE FISH BAR HAS A LONG WAY TO GO. THE SUSHI WAS NOT GOOD. THE FISH WAS FLAVORLESS AND THE RICE WORSE THAN UNCLE BEN'S WORST DAY. NOT SURE WHY THERE IS A PROBLEM HERE.
We love EPFB where the food is excellent.
Reunion with girlfriends. So fun
superb fish. especially recommend fried oyster sliders and grilled octopus
Jamie - the bartender is part of the great experience - Best oysters in the UES!
They were really nice. I think it’s a bad idea to go to a fish restaurant on the Monday of Memorial Day! That was why the fish was not the best. I’ve been there many times before, when the fish has been terrific.
Oh—the tables are not the most comfortable. That space, which used to be a place to get coffee and pastries has always been hard to work out. They did a great job improving the sound level. It’s now very reasonable.
I will always go back. It is a half a block from where I live, and it’s not exactly a neighborhood teeming with great restaurants.
We had an absolutely wonderful night at East Pole - Fish Bar. The service was personal and orchestrated with perfect timing! Thank you Nikki and Chef for making our night! The food was suggested to perfection - the soft shell crab appetizer followed by the best red snapper entree we have ever had with the grand finale strawberry crumble pie a la mode - wow! The craft cocktails were also perfectly balanced and delightful! Can not wait to go back - such a relaxing yet elegant atmosphere with wonderful people! ❤️
Shocking that our server let us unwittingly order a $28 glass of american pinot noir. First of all what could possibly justify that price and secondly she should have mentioned that it cost double a typical glass
Pretentious and overpriced. Food not stellar enough to charge these prices.
Hugely overpriced for appetizer sized main dishes, unremarkable wine choices. Service was perfunctory.
The prices are way to high for the quality of the food.
Although the food was well prepared it was very costly for what you received. I would not go back to this establishment
About the best, purest grilled salmon in recent experience. The room is stylish and comfortable and gives me hope that not all of the UES is stodgy.
Love the ambience there and the food and drinks are delicious, but it's very expensive.
Well we have a new place to add to our favorite list! Cute place, good, healthy food ( mostly fish) & an attentive staff. It is the 2nd time we have been here, we really enjoyed both times. We will be back.
A really great find for the neighborhood. Expansive menu and excellent food. The tables are either a little "tight" or "cozy" depending on your perspective.
Back again to this lovely, cozy place and once again we all had well-prepared, thoughtfully composed meals (various of the fish choices) with friendly and professional service. And we will, of course, return again soon!!
Crowded with mediocre food small portions overpriced
We had the Dover sole and it was amazing. Love the shoe string fries as well. Service was impeccable and ambience very nice.
There were three of us and we sat in one of the booths, which are on curved and very nice looking but not very roomy. Three people is just fine, but only just! I've been to the Fish Bar a few times now and like the atmosphere. Great bar to sit at, too, and the food is delicious, with a good selection. I had grilled salmon over bok choi which was simple and perfectly cooked. My family loved their food, with a special mention to the excellent tuna tartar. Our server was charming and very helpful. Great addition to the UES.
We had drinks, oysters and entrees. All were excellent but I'll call out the Nigroni (sp? I didn't have it but I'm told was fabulous) and the scallops were wonderful. We'll definitely be back.
Booked a table but dined at bar because available tables were undesirable. Bartender Jamie terrific. Oysters pristine and perfectly delicious. 6 oysters, $68 bottle Chardonnay, shared Dover sole that came with 2 sides. Shared 1 dessert. Bill was $104 each before tip!?! The sides were generous. The sole was not brought out whole then boned and served. Did not have tender texture of Dover sole, but then it was not prepared traditionally. We liked the wine so checked it online for future purchase. It retails for between $12.99-18.99.
been here many times. the space is very very limited. i would NOT recommend going with a party greater than 2, 3 at the very most. the food is nicely prepared and the service is congenial. during the regular dinner hours, i would definitely recommend a reservation (which they do honor).
Really enjoyed my dinner at the restaurant. I would go back again.
I felt that the food was overpriced, the service fair and with the bar service right by the
table the noise level was a bit too high.
I had a small piece of Salmon with no accompaniment on the plate for $37.00 which I felt was
Opening with the positive, our waitperson was great. My main complaint is passing off salmon as wild when it was patently obvious to me that it was farmed. There is a distinct difference in flavour and texture between farmed and wild salmon. It didn’t seem worth the bother to mention it (I say it’s farmed; they say it’s not) but I cannot in good faith recommend a restaurant that does not stand behind their product. Not the “farm to table” experience I was looking for.
One of the best restaurants I’ve been to on the upper Reeside the cocktails the food service everything was terrific. Little pricey but I think well worth it
Great food, service and atmosphere!
Outstanding ambience, food and drink. A neighborhood favorite
terrific, creative, and extremely fresh sushi in addition to amazing fish
Good food and service upscale but not pretentious
Maitre D' was most accommodating even went to the trouble of getting us a sampling oysters from sister restaurant that were not on his menu. Greatly appreciated.
A very nice neighborhood spot with very good food and lovely service. A bit too dark and ambiance a bit downscale but casual. I would return with friends for chatting and dining.
We were quite disappointed with the food and service. The bartender insisted that we pay our bar tab prior to being seated (very tacky), the waiter clearly was on the b-team and the host seemed extremely uncomfortable performing his duties. The bus boy was very pleasant and helpful.
The smoked fish dip was dry, the tuna roll not that tasty, but the shrimp temporal was light and perfectly seasoned.
Too bad because we live 2 blocks away.
Overpriced and too stuffy for my taste............
Love everything about East Pole Fish!
Tom greets you and is thoughtful about your time in this great place ! Love it and always want to go back. Their oysters are fresh and cold and their shrimp are the best! Bravo!
Delicious, bustling, fishy fun, but a little rushed.
The ONLY reason East Pole Fish Bar got a 4 stars is because there's nothing more annoying than when the dishes are cleared before everyone has finished eating. It was like they wanted us out of there, and at over $100 per person, it's just not okay. Our server was delightful, as was the maitre d', but still...We were a group of friends enjoying a good meal, and we felt rushed when the table next to us remained empty the entire time. Wonderful food though. Just a minor tweak, and this will be top of the list.
