East Bay Oyster Bar Ratings and Reviews
We both had Italian dishes-one penne vodka w chicken and one pasta e fagoli. Also one order of 2 fish tacos. Fish tacos ok, but two Italian dishes not as well as what we have had here before. Is the real intent toget rid of Pizzico people are being sent away. Hope not.
This is the second time I have been to this restaurant and I am underwhelmed. My son was perfectly happy with his burger and my daughter with her stuffies and crab cakes. I ordered the scallops and asked that they leave out the tomatoes and substitute any other vegetable. No sub which was not a big deal but only 3 scallops which isn't much of a main course for $27.00. My husband had the salmon and thought it was okay but it was supposed to include white beans in the dish and there weren't any. Our waiter did bring out some after he asked but the service was very slow on a night when empty tables were visible. It's a nice but not remarkable restaurant and I can get a much better value elsewhere.
The East Bay Oyster bar is Pizzico re-badged. The ownership remains the same. They apparently felt that having two restaurants with the same name was problematic so made a change. The menu was pretty much the same as the previous Pizzico with a few oyster themed add-ons. I had the lobster poutine. Ok, I tried it because it sounded a bit bizarre and, in fact, it was. Some how lobster, goat cheese and french fires with a white sauce just didn't work as poutine but I give them credit for trying. My guests had much more standard dishes and loved them. Needs a bit more re-branding work but remains a good Barrington dining staple.
Had a gift certificate for East Bay Oyster Bar. Had heard good reviews so we were looking forward to our visit. The experience exceeded our expectations. We had a decently priced bottle of wine and delicious dinners. We started with the Pear/Gorgonzola salad which was split for us (plenty for 2). I had the Thai Salmon and my husband had the Chicken Parm. Both equally yummy!! Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. We will definitely be back!!
First time at this location...I've been to Pizzico on Hope St. many times. I enjoyed the different atmosphere & the menu was great -lots of good choices. I especially enjoyed the use of local food (farm to table). Looking forward to going again. I've already passed the word on to my other foodie friends & family.
Was a little confused as Open Table still lists the name as Pizzico but the sign outside reads East Bay Oyster Bar (or something like that) and was THRILLED that they maintained the same core menu items from Pizzico ( or at least the ones I love the most!!)
As usual, we had a great meal at Pizzico, now called the East Bay Oyster House. We started with a special pizza with lobster and asparagus, which was magnificent. Their branzini with shrimp risotto was delicious, and very satisfying. The grilled scallops were also perfectly cooked and seasoned. The decision between choosing specials and ordering old favorites is always tough, but you can't go wrong there, and all the food is served by friendly, helpful waitstaff. We always have a great experience there.
Was a little confused because we had made a reservation for Pizzico but the restaurant had changed its name to the East Bay Oyster Bar. We were disappointed that they did not take the certificates that we received when they had a special offer. They did not say that you could only use one at a time when they gave them to us. Food was nicely prepared but the flank steak was a little tough.
Appetizers came out on time. Dinner was a long wait. Waitress explained that they were short handed and that a chef cut his finger. Entrees were very good. Had to ask for the crispy prosciutto and field greens w/vinaigrette listed in the description. Waitress brought the prosciutto but told us they were out of the greens and told us it was a small portion anyway. Really? Two of us ordered the entree, bring us a xsmall salad for the errors and long wait. Offer a dessert as a thanks for our patience. Also, we had a hard time finding the place because they go by two names (oyster something). Bottom line...nice menu, tasty food but poor customer service overall. Too bad.
Pizzico - barrington is no longer Pizzico - barrington. Says on signs its an oyster bar. But it has many Pizzico dishes -- absent VEAL! One of our group wanted veal-- the others found good seafood. If they don't keep veal on menu every day, some customers will desert for TaVino in Warren. Otherwise up to the regular good marks for food and service.
Went there for a romantic birthday dinner. Loved the atmosphere and decor. The Service was very good. We ordered a pitcher of sangria and calamari to start. We loved the sangria but were disappointed with the calamari. Too crispy, dry. For entree I got the penne alla vodka, fantastic choice. And my date got the swordfish, he said was equally fantastic. Overall, great time. Will definitely go back.
The restaurant's menu is wonderful. Great apps and entrees too. Fine wine list and reasonably priced. I find the food prices a bit steep for being "outside" of Providence and in a 'neighborhood'. Suresh, our waiter, is amazing; courteous, helpful with suggestions, prompt and conscientious.
Just renamed East Bay Oyster Company but owned by the same group and menu only minimally altered. Interior wasn't altered at all (in fact Pizzico is still stenciled on the window). Great neighborhood place for a nice cocktail, glass of wine and easy dinner. No view, but pleasant enough inside.
This was our first visit to Pizzico in Barrington, on a night that we were celebrating our anniversary and we could not have been more pleased with all aspects of our dining experience. The service was prompt and attentive yet not overbearing. The atmosphere had a fine dining feel while still being comfortable and relaxing. The appetizers were nicely presented and very tasty and the extensive wine list made it easy to find just the right wine to pair with our meals. Our main courses were not only perfectly prepared and served piping hot but were nicely balanced and extremely tasty. While the prices were a little higher than we expected, we felt that the quality and quantity were well worth the price. Both of our main courses were so bountiful we had plenty to take home for our lunches the next day. We ended our meal by sharing a chocolate moose which was decadently sweet but not overly rich, a perfect balance. We were so pleased with all aspects of our dining experience we will be recommending Pizzico to our friends as a great place for either a special occasion meal or as a can't miss dining experience.
Pizzico was very noisy. We were seated to the side in the center near the open grilles and it was often difficult to here each other. We had allowed 1 3/4 hours for dinner because we had theater tickets and we were waiting with our coats on for our checks. Too many other nearby options to go back again.
This was may third visit. Brought my office of 5 for an after Christmas Party. The restaurant was admittedly quiet on a Thursday evening following New Year's. Food was great. We were there early...already out of veal. Really? Everyone enjoyed their dinners. As we had dessert and coffee, the lights were unceremoniously turned up as a not so subtle hint to leave. The staff obviously saw this as an opportunity for an early evening to go home. We spent a substantial amount on dinner and I was not at all pleased by the action. Mentioned this to the manager who said it was an error and he hadn't noticed.Really? This put a damper on the evening for all of us. If we had been sitting there drinking until 2:00 AM I could understand it but this was not the case. It was totally inhospitable.
Would have given everything five stars, but unfortunately they were unable to serve their whole menu because their deep fryer was broken. I was really looking forward to the eggplant tower and chicken parmesan. But instead ended up with my usual penne a la vodka with was delicious. Hopefully we have better luck next time.
I have dined at the Hope Street location so decided to try out this location. I was surprised that it was not more occupied, although it was a holiday and the shoppers seemed to be out in force in the route 6 area. Also surprising was the slow service with so few people there. It seemed to take a long time to get our orders. No bread was offered in the wait. In the end we came up a little short to use our Restaurant.com coupon (beverages don't count). We should have ordered dessert. Guess I will have to try again and hope for better luck.
For getting together with friends or that special night out. The food is always what makes the experience. Well prepared, appropriate portions and excellent service. While a bit pricy for everyday dinning, it's always nice for that special night out.
They do offer some nice specials during the week that help to save a bit on the pocketbook.
A group of five dined at 6:30pm on a Monday evening - so no surprise that the restaurant was nearly empty. Far as we could tell, our server had no other table. Which made the extraordinarily slow service even more difficult to understand.
And then there was the matter of wine. We had a Sauvignon Blanc with appetizers (which appeared about 30 minutes after they were ordered). It was a decent wine, so we ordered another bottle - but - alas - they had no others. So we ordered a Chardonnay - nothing obscure - something you'd find in any neighborhood shop - but no, they didn't have that one, and they suggested another. Ah, but then they discovered the original Chardonnay, but no - turns out they didn't have that or the one they'd suggested as an alternative. I guess that's enough on service.
Food was adequate - of the five of us - one thought their meal was quite good, the others found little to enthuse about.
Though there are crayons on the tables for children this was more of an adult dining scene to us. It's simple but classy atmosphere and the food was delicious.
This was a date night for us and we typically don't go to restaurants with this price point. It's was lovely and we look forward to going back.
