East Bay Meeting House Bar & Cafe
A gem of a place not discovered by the masses. Excellent food and initiate atmosphere of a small French bistro.
Excellent service. Drinks were great. Food was very very good. Quaint atmosphere. Will go back for high tea when I can.
We arrived at a 5:30 Friday reservation to an empty house. We were treated like royalty. The food was ample and superb, and the owner chatted with us at length without being intrusive. If offers very good French fare at very reasonable prices. Some folks were drifting in around the time we left, and a crowded house might change some of my opinions, and I will be back to see if that happens.
Fine dining experience at very reasonable prices. Our best meal while in Charleston.
We went for lunch due to recommendation.
Will not visit again
I had a skimpy chef salad , prepared with Boars Head meat that was $14.00. Really..2 of the 3 salad dressings were not even made in the restaurant.
Husband had curry chicken salad and left hungry .
The menu was limited, over priced and uninteresting.
For $60 with tip we were very disappointed.
I have no idea why the reviews are so good.
Sorry East Bay Meeting House. You should re-evaluate the quality of what you are offering.
Everything was delicious, and the service was perfect. Thanks for a great dinner.
Our dining experience was so wonderful! The ambience, service and cuisine were fabulous! Recommend highly!
Prompt and friendly service. Food was delicious. Booking essential as the seating is limited. Full bar service. Highly recommended
Our meal was fantastic and the service was exceptional. We had family in town from Michigan and they loved the experience.
The best meal I have had in Charleston. So delicious from start to finish. Very friendly awesome quite atmosphere.
Wonderful quiet dinner with my husband and parents. Very quaint and intimate spot. Delious cocktails, apps, entrees and desserts.
What an absolute gem of a restaurant.
Having dined there for dinner, food was fantastic and the restaurant had a lovely ambience to it.
We were greeted by the owner on arrival who is clearly very passionate about the business he is running. This shows in the quality of the food & service.
Very quiet --- classy --- not your usual Charleston menu. Pleasurable evening.
Had 7 pm reservation which was required because it’s a very small place with about 8-10 tables and a bar in the same room. Only one very casual server and the bartender who also had to serve. However food was excellent. Even the bartender told us to not evaluate them by the service. The food was actually excellent though my mashed potatoes were cold but perhaps that’s because it sat while the one server was running around. Took 30 mins for our appetizer and 1 hour for our meal. Fortunately due to the close quarters we had good conversation from the couple at the table next to us.
Place was great. The food was great. The owner was a pleasure to talk to. We would definitely eat there again
Amazing food and charming bartender! Smoked trout and lobster ravioli were delicious!
Beyond great reviews, I had little to go on that would have set my expectations, so I suppose I can best describe my experience as "wonderfully distinct." My wife and I had brunch here, and though the food was very good and the cocktails anything but watered down, it was nothing traditional that shaped my opinion. Rather, what will always stick out in my memory about this place is the vibe...the incredibly relaxed vibe. My spinach-artichoke infused omelet was excellent, but I came away from the experience with an inside joke with our server and a new signature family-gathering shot (green tea), and I was not over-stimulated by a ton of surrounding activity or an implied rush to get us out of there to make way for the next wave of patrons.
Great food and ambiance. Very quiet and romantic. Enjoy dinning at East Bay each time we visit Charleston.
The spinach and artichoke dip stuffed omelette was fantastic.
Birthday - we had a great time!!
Enjoyed a great early morning breakfast- would return & recommend!!
We have NEVER been disappointed with dining here. Meals were spectacular during Restaurant Week and certainly did not disappoint recently.
Very nice casual spot in Charleston. Tasty food!
Excellent service and food. Loved the quiet atmosphere so it was easy to have a conversation. I will come back the next chance I get to return to Charleston!
Excellent food and service! Would definitely go back.
Delicious food and great service. You must have reservations, small seating area but perfectly located in the heart of Charleston.
Service was great and the food was delicious. Ambience was nice.
We ate there for breakfast on two of the days we were visiting Charleston. We chose it because it was the closest option to our Airbnb, and we were happy we found it. It's a nice place with a small menu but good food. Just two blocks down from Market Street on East Bay, so we avoided the 30 - 60 minute wait for a table at the other places we tried to get in on other days. Its location is convenient to sightseeing, between the east end of the Charleston City Market and Waterfront Park.
The server was very attentive. When we made the reservation online, she saved a great table for us. There is outdoor dining available as well.
Great restaurant, friendly service and delicious food. We were looking for a meal on Easter and wanted to try a new place. Stumbled upon this gem and we're delighted from the start. Smaller restaurant, more intimate setting, very friendly service.
Stumbled upon this restaurant last minute and will definitely be back again next time we are in town. The owner was very attentive and our kids loved him. Highly recommend.
Excellent food with personal service and a homey environment. It was apparent that the food was personally prepared and very fresh for each of us. We would recommend the East Bay Meeting House Bar & Cafe to those who want great food and a good experience in a small, quiet environment in Charleston.
A must eat place on every trip to Charleston. Such wonderful food at any time but, brunch on Sunday is a must.
Great breakfast find. Excellent crepe and a quaint little ambiance.
Food was great, nice stop on E Bay Street, good place for quiet date, not overpriced. Lobster ravioli was excellent. good selection of wine, and some french Kronenburg.
In all my years to Charleston, I cannot believe that we have never tried this restaurant before now. It was wonderful!!! I will definitely be back. Service, food, wine...all was exceptional!
Love the intimate atmosphere and attention to detail at the East Bay Meeting House. Plus the food is really wonderful - best creme brulee we've ever eaten.
I had the BLT and it was delicious. It was not crowded, around 11:30 a.m., so it was a very quiet lunch.
Excellent food, impeccable service, wonderful dining experience. Highly recommend the East Bay Meeting House for an intimate dinner or fine luncheon experience. Great East Bay location.
I always make a point of eating at East Bay Meeting House when I visit Charleston. The hard part is deciding whether to do happy hour, dinner or afternoon tea. For the location and quality of the food, the prices are exceptionally reasonable. I can't say enough about my favorite (the pork medallions with fruit). My daughter had the lobster ravioli and it was excellent as well. We love the gorgonzola, fig, pecan appetizer and managed to make room for a decadent piece of chocolate cake as well. Such a little gem I am delighted to have discovered. Amazes me how such a small place with a small staff can put out such quality and elegance. Love the ambience.
