East Bay Meeting House Bar & Cafe
Delicious food, great service, and excellent value. We will be back. Thank you Robin.
The food was declicious; however, the service was poor. The server seemed miserable and was rude.
An amazing little place perfect for Date brunch.
Always great brunch
Overall, a memorable dining experience.
Delicious food, romantic ambiance - noise level - low.
Great venue for date night.
Very helpful and accommodating. Nice presentation.
Very good food and service. Small location. Overall great experience.
The food and service were very good - all very tasty and management and wait staff were very attentive. Only downside were the small portions of the entrees. While we are not fans of huge portions, I have to admit we left with a bit of a hungry stomach. They would be better off charging a little more and presenting a full size entree vs. an appetizer size entree.
My wife and I went to East Bay Meeting House for dinner on Valentines Day. This was our first time at this restaurant and we could not have been happier with our choice.
The food was excellent from appetizers to desert. My wife had pork medallions in rum raisin sauce and I had lobster ravioli in limoncello sauce. Both were outstanding.
The courses were served in a timely manner but not rushed.
We will return next time we are in Charleston.
There were only two reservation times left, very late and very early. We took early. We're told it would be lunch menu. We were abruptly seated at the only table without table linens or setting. The food was sad and servicer had attitude. The owner must have felt bad, so spoke to us. Ruined Valentine's Day.
In Charleston for the day exploring and experiencing the historic district while traveling to our destination in Florida. Walked by East Bay Meeting House during the afternoon. It looked very quaint and nice so we looked for and found great reviews for this place when we got back to the hotel so we decided to have dinner there tonight. Made reservation for 7:00 PM. We had a wonderful experience here. It really was perfect in every way. Our main course selections were the Beef Bourguignon and the Pork Medallions. The ambiance was great, the service was wonderful, and the food was absolutely excellent. Tender cuts of beef and pork in both main courses with very nice side vegetables that were cooked perfectly. Both courses came with a fresh house salad which was just as well prepared as the main courses. It really was a “10”. Simple dishes but prepared perfectly. This place is an absolute winner that will please for any dinner occasion.
A hidden gym, just like a quiet, charming bistro in Paris!
Wonderful dining experience. I was traveling alone and felt so welcome. The owners sat me in a cozy nook by the window and stopped by frequently to chat and ensure my meal was perfect! They were trialing a new menu item: lobster ravioli. It was excellent, as was the entire meal.
The place is small, so we would definitely recommend to make a reservation before going. The food was very tasteful and very well presented. The owner greeted us at the door. I can tell that the owner is very proud of the food creations, because he personally was making sure that every entree we had was tasting good and well presented. Overall we had a great experience and will definitely recommend this hidden gem.
The East Bay Meeting House is a cozy, comfortable dining opportunity, with excellent guest service. The staff knows the menu very well, and keep things staged very well. While not a large restaurant, the relatively small number of seats make this an excellent place to have warm, comfortable conversation while enjoying an excellent meal and service.
My first time here was very enjoyable! Loved the menu and my picks. Will definitely come back.
Fantastic service, even better food, and great atmosphere!
Great food ,atmosphere ,and the owner was very friendly
We really enjoyed our first visit to East Bay Meeting House! The food was excellent, the gentleman who waited on us was so hospitable, and we really enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant. We absolutely plan to come back, especially once we learned that they serve afternoon tea!
Quaint and delicious!
We went to the restaurant during restaurant week and we loved the five course meal. Everything was excellent and we would definitely eat here again.
I went to Easy Bay Meeting House for Charleston restaurant week. It was a fabulous meal in a charming location.
Great little cafe, the staff are very friendly and the food is fantastic!
Excellent restaurant!!! Very personal place with attention to detail and great food!!
Picked this place based on Open Table reviews and were not disappointed. It is small (bar and only 6 or so tables) and intimate and most of all quiet. Enjoyed being able to converse in normal tones. Went for an early dinner on a Monday, so it was not busy. We were served by the proprietor, who was most gracious and quite informative regarding the food and its preparation.
Would characterize it as simple done well. A limited menu but everything was superbly prepared and delicious. Started with smoked trout served with cream cheese, red onion, and roast peppers on toast points with salad greens. A simple dish, but the flavors blended beautifully and made outstanding by the quality of the trout, which was not overly smoked or salted as is often the case. The proprietor explained that it is delivered with the skin on, which is removed before serving thus ensuring that it remains moist.
Salads came next with, again, a simple balsamic vinaigrette dressing. Perfect balance of oil & vinegar and Italian seasoning.
Entrees were beef bourguignon and chicken francese, both excellent. Beef was tender with a subtly flavorful wine/cognac sauce. The primary seasoning was thyme, which was perhaps a touched too pronounced. Nonetheless it was an excellent dish, and I ate it all. The chicken francese was surprisingly light, tender and moist for a breaded cutlet. It was served over angel hair pasta with a lemony sauce with just the perfect amount tartness.
We finished up with a dessert named simply Le Chocolat. This was a slice of the richest, moistest devil's food cake I have ever had. It was served with fresh whipped cream and a large fresh strawberry that provided just enough tartness to keep the overall sweetness of the dessert from being excessive.
Small wine list with considered selections. California pinot was very good.
Reasonably priced and highly recommended. We visit Charleston often, and, even though we have many more restaurants to try, we may return here first.
We had New Year's Eve Dinner here and the food was outstanding, the service even better. It's small and quaint. We loved it! Very romantic.
New years eve dinner was very nice. Good service, great ambiance in a small restaurant, and very good food. Will definitely return!
What a gem! Terrific food with great, intimate ambiance. Excellent all around
Perfect with great food and ambiance!
Continues to be the hidden gem of Charleston.
Prices are in line for most diners.
Was a very quaint place , we enjoyed the intimacy of the restaurant . The food selection was very diverse with soups, sandwiches and meat and cheese plate selections.
This was our first dining experience at East Bay House Bar & Cafe but it will not be our last. We’d hoped for a quieter place with a sophisticated yet simple vibe and we found just that. The restaurant has a European cafe look and feel. The staff were warm and friendly. The menu is limited though my wife and I found multiple items we considered but we both hankered for the Chicken Francese. Good decision as our dish was light and perfectly prepared. Even the included side salad was nicely presented (I know, it sounds contrived) and absolutely fresh and delicious. Clearly we have to return for their brunch after perusing that menu and, of course, dinner.
I would recommend this place for a nice late lunch. The staff was great, friendly and very engaging! We had a really great time!
Many years of eating in Charleston and this was an overdue find on our annual business trip. Completely charming, delicious food, wonderful menu, quiet yet right in the midst of the old city. We will be back.
Food was good. Service was not. Only one person working the dining room and the bar. Two parties came in after we did and their orders were taken, and we had to ask the bartender/waitress to take our food order.
Had a lovely date night at this cozy establishment. Food was delicious and the service excellent. Looking forward to our next visit!
Outstanding small restaurant. Great ambiance and food. Beef bourginon was fantastice.
Very pleased with dining experience. Food was excellent. Service wonderful. Will be back.
Great find! 1st visit and we will definitely go back! The goat cheese appetizer with figs was delicious. Really enjoyed the Beef entree too. Small restaurant so be sure and reserve ahead of time.
