Earth at Hidden Pond
JOE SCHAFER, Executive Chef
Very good food and great quality
Service a little bit behind, especially by having employees only for 6 months a year
Great ambiance and not too noisy compared to some other places. Will be back for sure
Wow...just wow. We can’t say enough about Earth. From the second we pulled up we knew this place was special. It was our wedding anniversary and our lovely server, Megan, made us feel so special. The food was exquisite down to every bite, and our drinks equally as delicious. We will forever treasure our night at Earth
The ambiance alone is worth it. Phenomenal all around and highly recommend!
The food was exceptional, the service impeccable only downside was the noise level for me but didn’t seem to bother anyone else in my group, I guess I’m just old
Awesome hidden gem! We would 10/10 go back!
Can’t wait to return
Very disappointed with food. Salmon very salty ( and I like salt) and lamb very dry.
Ambiance really nice, service and cocktails great.
Always amazing! Looking forward to another meal on Saturday!
Recommend. However, Price little expensive though and fire place should not be on when it’s hot outside! I was sweating inside due to this and no AC.
Vacation, very good dining experience
Loved it! All six people in my party enjoyed the food and ambiance. We will go again.
We had a great time! Our dinner guests were from out-of-town and they enjoyed the evening tremendously.
Our waitress was amazing and the food was beyond delicious.
Stellar. We always hit Earth when in town and it never disappoints. From the cocktails to food and ambiance, it is terrific. This time around we had the fried squash blossoms, ribs, and homemade crab/lobster ravioli. All outstanding. You can’t go wrong with this place!
This was our third dinner at Earth in as many years. The kitchen is just not what it used to be.
The pizza was delicious, with a very good dough, and the octopus starter also quite good. The rest of the meal, not so much. I ordered the roasted curried cauliflower with chickpeas, which was a hot, overdone, soggy mess. Zero nuance, just wham! Curry! It’s a good thing the lighting is by a single candle because it would not have been an attractive dish. The price of it is $30. An ambitious price for a head of cauliflower, despite the chickpeas and curry powder. The server saw I had only taken two bites, but briskly asked if I’d like it boxed up “to enjoy later. “ I took the box home and promptly and wastefully dumped it. Such a shame. My husband had the swordfish. Again, wham! Lemongrass overpowered everything. The noodles were cooked without any love, as they were stuck together in mushy clumps. He ate it all anyway. The swordfish was very rare, not a problem there, but all you could taste was lemongrass.
Things have really changed in that kitchen, which was once a stellar place. Such a shame.
It was good to have GPS to find the restaurant, but the trip was well worth it. The swordfish with lobster was very good and the kale salad was excellent, though much larger than I could finish. My wife’s gazpacho was also excellent.
Been here multiple times, food is outstanding, atmosphere is fantastic. Love this place!
Great food in an unique atmosphere. Good service. Great selection of cocktails and beers. We especially liked the natural wood burning fireplace inside the restaurant, since the weather turned cooler that day.
Restaurant was highly recommended yet very very hard to find in the dark. Very dark inside and could not figure out what was so special about it other than the interesting decor inside. We had the vegetable platter appetizer which was ok and nothing special. Entrees were just ok as well. Waitress very nice and accommodating.
Disappointing at best. I looked forward to eating at Earth for weeks. We were in Kennebunkport for vacation and had made reservations weeks in advance. We arrived 5 minutes early for our reservation and as we walked in a large party was right in front of us, they told the hostes they were 35 minutes early and did not mind waiting. Well two tables were put together and they were seated immediately. Then we were told our table was not ready and so we’re the next two groups behind us. I don’t mind waiting a few minutes I understand you can’t predict when tables will leave but waiting 30 minutes to be seated then another 15 before you see a waitress is just poor service. A manager came over to explain they were under staffed and asked us to be patient. The waitress was impossible to find even as the restaurant emptied out. We were one of the last 4 tables and still could not find anyone to get us a cup of coffee. There were 4 of us dining, no one was wowed by the food it was just ok, nothing special, nothing bad, just average. On a positive Earth is absolutely beautiful. Maybe stop by for a drink, maybe the bar has better service. Skip the meal it’s not worth your time or money.
We had high expectations and Earth exceeded all of them. One of the most magical settings we’ve been to and the food lived up to the atmosphere. We had and can recommend the salmon sashimi, tomato/watermelon/burrata, wood fired carrots, swordfish and pork rubs. All inventive and delicious!
Thank you! We love to meet and surpass exceptions. Thank you for joining us and for your kind words. We hope to serve you again. Warm Regards The team at Earth at Hidden Pond.
Amazing experience, the location was beautiful, the food amazing. I thought it was worth every penny. We sat on the screened in area in the back and loved every second of it. Left very full and happy, cant wait to come back.
Thank you for choosing to dine with us and for your review. We are proud and happy to hear about your experience and can not wait to have you dine with us again. Warm regards, The Team at Earth at Hidden Pond.
I like the character of the place, the large fireplace, the bar and the wonderful wall structure of rough tree rounds! The food is very good, the service has always been excellent. However this time we had a table for 2 and it was not one against the wall but rather seemed squeezed in with the tables for 4. The noise level was quite high and between the tables for 4 on one side and the wait staff walk8n* back and forth on the other side it was not an ideal set up. Next time if there are only going to be 2 of us I will ask for the porch!
I came here with my boyfriend for an anniversary dinner and the food came fairly quickly and was outstanding. The drink menu had a lot of variety and we ended up splitting the porterhouse which was so much more than we expected, in the best way. Food was delicious, staff was kind and respectful and ambiance was romantic. Outside seating near the fire pit with blankets and a glass of wine was the perfect way to end the night.
Thank you for making us apart of your anniversary. We are very pleased to hear you enjoyed your time with us. We wish you many more anniversaries and hope to serve you again in the future. Warm regards The team at Earth at Hidden Pond.
It was absolutely delicious. Also, our waitress was exceptional. We will definitely be back!
Thank you Elizabeth. We appreciate your review and are happy you chose to dine with us us. We look forward to serving you in the future. Warm Regards The team at Earth at Hidden Pond.
Food was very disappointing. Not worth the high price.
We are very sorry to have to write a poor review. We are normally very easy to please. The ambiance at Earth was outstanding. Our service was ok. However, our food was a very major disappointment. The presentation was unremarkable. We had the roasted carrot appetizer, the swordfish & the ravioli/lobster entres & the donuts for dessert.
Much to our disappointment the carrot appetizer was tasteless. The lobster in the ravioli was not chewable (we left all of it behind in the dish). The swordfish was very mushy with an incompatible array of flavors (again we left most of it behind). The donuts were stiff & the ice cream hardly detectable.
We were sadden to come away with the feeling that our quite pricey evening was tragically a waste of our time & investment.
Earth at Hidden Pond was a welcome respite from the usual fare in Kennebunkport. The ambiance was unmatched by anything I have seen in Kennebunkport - a hidden gem - warm, candles on each table, roaring fire in fireplace, beautiful romantic lighting throughout. Noise level was such that one could actually have a conversation. Food was exceptional - fresh, beautifully presented, the melt in your mouth lobster was cooked perfectly . It was a great way to top off a week's stay in Kennebunkport.
Thank you Janet this was so kind! We are very proud and happy to hear about your evening. If you return to Kennebunkport, we would love to serve you again. Warm Regards The team at Earth at Hidden Pond.
Exceptional food and cocktails. Amazing experience
Maybe if we could see what we were eating, it would have made a difference-or maybe not. It was so dark that we needed our phone flash lights to see the plateS. Lots going on with each dish-too much as it masked the true flavors of each dish. A bust.
Absolutely beautiful setting. Service was exceptional. Ambiance was outstanding. Food was delicious. Even though every table was occupied we were able to hear each other with no problem. I highly recommend for that special occasion. I will certainly go back.
Thank you for your review and recommendation, we are pleased to hear you liked the ambiance, the food and our service! We hope to you again very soon. Warm regards, The Team at Earth at Hidden Pond.
Our long weekend in Kennebunkport ended on a high note with an evening @ Earth. It was clear almost immediately why it was so hard to get a reservation even booking a few weeks in advance. Tucked away on Hidden Pond, Earth is creating elevated farm to table cuisine. Outstanding cocktail program, wine list, cuisine, service, and ambiance. The watermelon and burrata salad was refreshing and delicious. The fried chicken for two was so moist, crispy, & finger licking good. The doughnuts were an epic finale. My only recommendation for the team is to work on the ventilation a bit as it gets kind of smoky in the main dining room between the wood fired oven and fireplace.
As always...wonderful ambiance, delicious food, great service. Such a treat!
Overall an extremely memorable experience and an absolutely delicious meal.
Reserved one of the private potting sheds, was very romantic and the service was outstanding. They even went as far to get me a blanket and a heater as the weather got a little chilly that night. Perfect date night!
Loved it. Great atmosphere. Food is good. Order the carrots!
We had our anniversary dinner here and it was fabulous. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The service was attentive and the pacing of courses right on. Inventive appetizers included a “flight of oysters” - six small morsels, each one in its own shot glass with a different mignonette; very tasty and light. The lobster and crab ravioli was a larger appetizer, which we split, and it was delicious - pillows of pasta filled with creamy Boursin cheese, resting in a lightly spiced cream sauce with snow peas and covered with limp meat crab and chunks of lobster meat. Our main courses were terrific, but we couldn’t quite finish. We shared a bottle of very tasty (and very reasonably priced) Bordeaux. No room for dessert...
I highly recommend this restaurant, and we look forward to returning.
Thank you for choosing to celebrate your anniversary with us and for this kind and descriptive review, each dish described as if by our own chef. We look forward to celebrating with you again hopefully we will squeeze in some dessert! Warm Regards The Team at Earth at Hidden Pond
We celebrated out 42nd Anniversary and it was quite special!
Delicious and creative food in a beautiful setting.
