Earth at Hidden Pond
Earth promises an unforgettable dining experience that will leave you yearning for more. Nestled amongst balsam trees and birch forest, Earth is the result of a vision—one that embraces community and supports relationships between the world of outstanding cuisine and the farmers and foragers who provide the tools with which we compose incredible fare. Simple yet innovative, Earth's menu focuses on "farm to fork" freshness. In addition to local meats and seafood, ingredients are used from one of two onsite organic gardens—picked daily and incorporated into each dish to enhance the many flavors and provide a taste that only fresh ingredients deliver.

I’ve been here many times for dinner and had always felt like it was a special place. Not sure why it wasn’t the same this time. The waiter was very nice but when food came out, there was confusion as to who ordered what. The fried chicken was not as tasty and crispy as usual..it was mediocre like supermarket rotisserie chicken. Desserts were so so but not worth the calories. The octopus was very fishy. Kale salad was as expected but not extraordinary. We had a beautiful night and it was fun but overall not up to it’s usual standard.
Food was very good, cocktail list could be improved
We had eaten at Earth numerous times during 2018 and 2019 and had enjoyed stellar food and service always. This year, the food was cold, the server or kitchen “forgot” one of our courses and our two course dinner 2 1/2 Hours to complete. Our server was unapologetic. My husband and I hope that we had an experience not shared by others as again, we have had the opposite experience at Earth in the past.
It was terrific The food was some of the best I have ever had in Kennebunk (we live here full time ) It was as good as the White Barn was several years ago The service was excellent The way that they designed the social distancing was stunning
Kristen the GM of Hidden Pond warmly created us It was a delightful evening
The food remains excellent but they are most definitely falling short on service. Untrained staff, delays in the kitchen, lack of attention to details (no one even greeted us upon arrival among other things) left us very dissatisfied. Would recommend skipping until they can pull it together.
Jason is the Best server ever. His attention to detail is incredible and memory spot on!
Every year we look forward visiting Earth at Hidden Pond. From the initial greeting to the final goodbye, the staff work at making your experience the best it can be; and they never disappoint. This year especially with Covid-19, they have gone to extreme measures to make sure that there is sufficient distance between tables and anyone of the staff you come in contact with are properly masked. Hats off to Patrick for making the best Old-Fashioned in New England and Danielle could not have taken better care of us. We cannot wait until next year.
Earth is amazing! Our favorite local place for a special occasion.
Disappointed that it’s now a prix fix menu. Have enjoyed Earth for years.
We waited out by the pool 10 min and we were right on time. After we were seated we had to wait 20 minutes at least before we saw water brought to the table. And another 15 minutes before we were able to order. The first cosmopolitan it was brought to the table was not even filled to the top of the glass. It was for my client and I was embarrassed. The second one it was brought to the table was fixed by Danielle and it was perfect. The steamed oysters were outstanding. The lamb shank was outstanding. The lobster Tostado was ordered by my client and was served on tortilla chips it was good but she said she would not order it again. We will definitely be back to your restaurant because we love the ambience in the food is consistently delicious. We understand it was your second night and you were short staffed.
Excellent would be an understatement! From the moment you arrive you are welcomed. Our waitress was kind, informative and prompt, she set a nice pace for the meal. The food was wonderful! Each coarse was delish!! I literally could not pick a favorite dish. I can not wait to return.
The food was prepared with attention to flavor and presentation. This made the visit an enjoyable event. The waitstaff was equally appreciated.
Best restaurant in the country. Everything from the food to drinks to the atmosphere. So special.
Excellent season this year easily dined here 6-7 times over summer.
The atmosphere was beautiful. The property and restaurant were absolutely stunning- a perfect fall setting. The valet parking seemed strange but I am also a “local” and do not mind walking a few feet to my car. The service was slow and lacking. The first thing we were told was that it was closing night and do not have everything on the menu. But didn’t proceed to tell us what before she left our table.
The food was just “ok.” The Brussels sprouts were over done and so salty I could barely eat them. The bread, however, was amazing. I got the Filet and it seemed as if it had been seared and then cooked at a later time. The “sear” was dry. They also served a teeny bit of filet with one Brussels sprout, maybe two - three other pieces of vegetables. The vegetables were very good. Nearly 150$, I left disappointed and hungry. Having wanted to try Earth for a while, my expectations had been higher for fine dining.
I love the atmosphere and the food. Great vegetarian options. Everything was delicious.
Just wonderful !!
Can’t wait to go back in the spring. I’m sorry that it closes for the season. All I can do is rave about the food , the service and the ambience!
This is a special place! Perfect for a special event.
Was our firts time! Marvelous place! And the food so delicious!
We enjoyed our dinner very much. Wish the dessert menu was larger as the overall creativeness of the cuisine is what we really liked. Its a little too loud and "energetic" for us, but we very much look forward to returning.
We celebrated a friends birthday at Earth at Hidden Pond and absolutely loved it! From the food to the staff everything was amazong!
Fantastic food and bar. Great server. The short rib pasta was outta sight as was the salmon. The only meh was the side dish potatoes. Noting special. Would def come back and recommend.
You charged us $21 for a scotch martini. I don’t know what kind of scotch it was but I’d put in a safe. Some where. Ruined the evening!!!
The food was very well designed and prepared and presented. It tasted even better than it looked despite the spectacular presentations.
Megan was our server and was the best. We celebrated my wife's birthday and we are still talking about it days later. We will definitely request Megan on our next visit.
Josh at the bar was very helpful and guided us to a great couple of drinks.
This has been my favorite dinning experience for a few years, as my first visit I wrote in their guest book that it was “heaven in Earth”.
I’m saddened to write that the few times we’ve returned that it is disheartening to see changes unfold. I’ve sent many of my clients to have an experience here and they have also expressed to me the same sentiments within many of these reviews.
Amazing food and exceptional service is hard to find. When you find it, you celebrate it. I keep telling myself that I have enjoyed it and try to convince myself it is the same as I had complemented in the past, but I can only try to convince myself for so many visits.
I do not like writing anything less than a stellar review, it really bothers me to write this. I let a few days pass as I had called twice and left a message to speak with someone - no return call. It was important as my bill was incorrect and I was overcharged.
Fantastic as always. Food, drinks, staff, atmosphere. 4th or 5th time we have been back
Great vibe, cool ambience. Wonderful fresh menus choices. Somewhat eclectic but loved the food.
Wonderful dining experience. Staff was attentive and knowledgeable, food was well prepared and well presented, ambiance is very romantic, large fireplace always on with a huge leather couch to snuggle up in; Hidden Pond and Earth have no equals. I had the Dusk and my date had the lamb; both dishes were amazing but the topper was the appetizer: butternut squash soup with seared scallop. This is so worth the travel to get here or better, to saty here.
Second time that we ate here. Definitely not as good as the first. Butternut squash soup was too creamy and was not worth the price. Entrees were also not as good as 1st time. Brioche donuts were overcooked and greasy. Dinner was not worth the price.
Fod seemed really rich-No matter what we ordered.
We had trouble hearing each other. Very noisy.
Id still be back but was a little disappointed.
This place is outstanding! The service, food and ambiance are next level. We started with the roasted brussel sprouts (fav) followed by a complementary carrot and beet hummus tray. We split the fried chicken for two and finished with the brioche donuts for dessert. I can't say enough good things.
We are sadden to write this review as we were so excited to dine at Earth. Unfortunately the service was horrible. We waited almost 15 minutes before being greeted and receiving water. We waited an hour and a half before our waitress informed us our entrees would be out soon. When we questioned the time frame and we were told that our meal was to be “slow paced service” and that the usual dining time was two hours. The three other tables around us, two of which were seated at least 20 minutes after us, were already served their meals. We were never checked on, nor had the opportunity or asked if we would like second rounds of cocktails. The lack of attention and poor service was never acknowledged or apologized for. We were left feeling that our interpretation of the dining experience was incorrect. Once we left, we waited outside in the cold for the valet, only to have to track down our own keys. Unless you’re looking for “slow paced service” or no service, I would suggest choosing another place to dine and celebrate with loved ones.
Wonderful dining experience
This experience was the best of our trip to Kennebunkport. The service was on point and friendly. The donuts were the most outrageously delicious thing.
Loved everything about this restaurant - a feast for the eyes and tummy!
We thoroughly enjoyed our second visit this year on Thursday. As usual, the ambience was first-rate, adult and warm. The food was equally good. The one item that kept me from 5* for food was the braised short rib with pappardelle - it was just too rich without any counterbalance. Otherwise, the octopus, tenderloin and donuts were on point and delicious.
My friends and I were seating in the porch area which was very nice. The waiter was not friendly and in a hurry. We got some appetizers and then decided on a chicken dish to share which was good but we left a big potion, of which we said that we wanted to take it home. We had drinks and then ordered glasses of house pinot noir but the waiter suggested a bottle of wine instead. We agreed. We asked him to divide the check three ways and put different items on each check. He did it his way in the end. He gave us a $60 bottle of wine of which he didn't tell us the cost and forgot to give us the left chicken. We didn't appreciate his attitude, high end choices and service.
Not the easiest place to find! Their signage is all overgrown. We had a fabulous dinner here in a beautiful dining room on a not very busy October night. Oyster flights were a treat and the swordfish was incredible. The chef likes a bit of spice, so if you are not a big fan of curry your options may be a bit limited. The manager at our hotel said that the shared chicken dinner for two was the best in the whole state of Maine. But somehow we couldn't not order seafood. The lobster risotto was unremarkable but quite satisfying. The prices are pretty high, and there really isn't much of a selection of moderately priced wine.
Banana foster dessert very disappointing. Turned out to be nothing more than a banana pudding with a chunk of banana. I was expecting warm bananas with caramel drizzle and ice cream. Poor ending. Step it up or don’t serve it. Thanks
Food, Service and ambiance are all amazing. I recommend without reservation.
Earth is perfectly placed in along a rural path so the rustic atmosphere feels all the more authentic. The food is thoughtfully crafted and delicious. After dinner, the donuts are a must.
