Overall, things were good here. The food was tasty, service above average, and you can’t beat their happy hour brunch.
A few small issues. Tried to make a phone reservation, but was told they were full for Mother’s Day. Checked for reservations at restaurants near us on OpenTable, and, surprise surprise, Earl’s Yaletown has space online. Go figure... Next thing- they call to confirm a day before, but they tell us to come early because they’ll be so busy. We get there a half hour early, and there are empty tables around us the whole time we’re there.
We had a young child with us who ordered waffles. Guess what - Earl’s doesn’t even make their own waffles, and they ran out. We had a very disappointed 6 year old who ended up eating sides of bacon and garlic fries for brunch. The manager tried to smooth things over with the little one by bringing her a strawberry slushie (and a second one after she spilled the first one), so points for him for trying.
One last thing - they always overcook their eggs. I forgot to ask for my yolks runny, which they really should be without asking.
I came here on Saturday with my family (group of 8 plus a baby) for the Earls happy hour brunch. This was my second time here and I was not disappointed! I ordered the eggs benny; it was unique in that it came out on a baguette, and not your typical english muffin. I really liked the twist. The side of hash was super delicious too -- extra crispy which I love! Our server, in particular, was fantastic. She was super accommodating and readily checked up on us. Definitely one of the better service experiences that I've had at this Earls location. Would definitely recommend.
We'd requested a patio reservation and didn't get one. I don't mind that the reservation didn't happen, but I would've preferred to have been notified that it wasn't possible; rather than just letting us walk in and find out we were seated in the dining area.
Tasty, and good quality food. Def a place to stop for lunch in Yaletown.
We love coming here for brunch! All of their items are delicious! I recommend their Avocado Super Brunch or their Chorizo and Mushroom Hash!
It was good
Great atmosphere and staff very friendly and efficient...highly recommended for good value meal.
Earls has become our go to brunch spot with their new Brunch Happy Hour. We like to arrive early and enjoy a relaxed meal in under 45 minutes if we wish. We bring our 7 year old and he always has a great time too!
Service excellent. We shared a calamari appetizer - nothing special and no better or worse than you can get in any other restaurant. My partner had the classic rib rack which he loved. I had the relatively new mussels entree. The presentation of the mussel dish, in an enamel pot atop a wooden board adorned with delicious toast, although striking, made it an entirely impractical dish to consume. The pot, about 15-20 cm high by about 18 cm diameter was only about 30% filled with the mussels and accompanying sauce. The quantity was sufficient but it was far too awkward to fish out the mussels from the depths of the container and detach them from their shells, especially since the only cutlery provided was knife, fork and a long ladle. I had to request a regular spoon to help make it easier. Although the presentation looks pretty good and unique, the mussels should just have been served, as they normally are, in a wide and shallow soup plate; that way they would have been easier to consume. Apart from the saltiness of the dish, I would not order this dish again, just because of how awkward it was to eat!
My partner had just water and I had a Parallel 49 draught lager which, for a craft brewery, was quite uninspiring.
The restaurant is too noisy for us at our ages but we did ask to be seated in a quiet area which went some way to mitigating the ambient noise coming from patrons and several TVs which were showing excerpts from the winter Olympic games.
We were a large group - 17. The waitress was on top of everything. All food came out in a timely manner. Food was great.
A great spot for brunch, I'm really glad they added a brunch menu! We sat in their lounge which was quite comfortable. Our server was cheery and attentive too, which was nice. The music was a little loud for a nearly empty restaurant early Sunday morning. We mentioned this to our server and she gladly turned it down , which was greatly appreciated.
Their $8 brunch before noon is an awesome deal, we will definitely be back again!
Excellent. OpenTable said my review is too short(that’s what she said) so I am writing this. Cheers.
Great waitress! So nice! She took several pictures of us always with a great attitude! Thank you!
Our server was awesome! We were originally supposed to be a party of 10 but when it went down to 6, she accommodated right away. She was super attentive and friendly.
Was ok. Couple of our meals were cold but we just asked them to warm them up. Food was nice. Service was good.
Lunch with co-worker. Really enjoyed warm Kale salad. Unfortunately, seated right beside a group of 14 persons so noise level for conversation was a bit too loud. Otherwise good neighbourhood spot with excellent variation in menu offerings.
One of our favourite go to places for brunch. Wish they offered brunch 7 days a week rather than just on weekends.
Very efficient and excellent service on a very busy night. Great value for money in happy hour for food and beer!! Great atmosphere.
The meal and service was excellent. I would definitely go back. Thank you Earl’s for a great evening.
This was everyday dining with friends occasion. While I included in my booking a note on preferred patio seating that was not acknowledged by the restaurant. But we managed to get patio table eventually. Food was ok; happy hour menu was satisfying to my friends. I have ordered a la carte and waited for that quite a bit. I was happy that I could veganized that one item on the menu (not so often possible in other places). Waiter that served us was polite but not very attentive. At the end he totally overheard request for the food to be wrapped up for take away and cleaned table into the remaining dish.
Overall I'd still recommend this location for casual dining and patio seating.
We go almost every weekend. The hosts are awful usually. We loved one waitress but today I waved both arms for 15 minutes and couldn't get anyone's attention. The food is usually great but today the chorizo mushroom has had 2 pieces of chorizo smaller than a dime and same with the mushrooms. Every time we go there we encounter a problem with the hostess or service or food. We are going to another restaurant next time. It's too bad since I love the happy hour Baja fish tacos.
Great atmosphere and great food. Perfect place to chill with friends.
Very disappointed with my chicken Caesar salad. No real dressing and definitely no garlic. The chicken was tender but the actual salad was a disappointment. Also they used to give you Olive oil and balsamic vinegar to dip the thick piece of bread in. I had to ask for that. Who would want to eat that huge, thick piece of bread without that! BUT... my husband ordered the half order of ribs and chicken and it was fabulous and such a huge portion! It came with delicious potato salad and coleslaw. I sampled the melt in your mouth ribs and the delicious tender Cajun chicken. That is what I would order the next time! Highly recommend it! Otherwise it is quite a nice place out on the patio. Warning...the huge blue garbage truck emptied the bins right outside where everyone is eating. Just don't look! Too bad that happens, but no big deal.
We drunk IPA beers and light meals for lunch time. There is not so many choices for tap beer though, location and atmosphere are so good. They have a nice patio outside for coming summer!
Would be great to supplement brunch menu items with some toast + jam and definitely, absolutely replace the boxed juices with freshly squeezed citrus juice. After all, this is Earl's (known for its great care for fresh ingredients). Boxed juice simply doesn't fit the brand.
