Earls Kitchen + Bar - South Commons - Edmonton
We were a table of four at an 11:30 business lunch and we were all very happy with our experience. Our server was very friendly and professional, our meals were completed quickly and all of our group were happy with their meal. Even our drinks (pop) were refilled without having to ask and before our glass was empty. They have the best clam chowder soup!
Overall it always good food in a nice place. Love the Sunday brunch menu.
We went to enjoy thanksgiving dinner and when we went to order we were told that they were out of the dinners so we ordered off the regular menu and had a very good meal in spite of disappointment. Our server was very good and exceptionally personable which added to the ambiance of the evening. It was somewhat loud when we started but it tapered off after about an hour or so. We did have a very good evening but I was a bit surprised when I received the bill that there was nothing deducted or anything taken off for the fact that the turkey dinners were sold out so early in the evening when the promo was to run from 4:00 to 10:00 and we were there at 6:15. I said nothing about this and paid the bill as if nothing had happened. We will return to the restaurant but maybe not as frequently as prior (we had been there the Wednesday just before) I will continue to use you to make reservations for our next night out thank you
Great food, good service, reasonable.. charges were 10% less than the menu... nice surprise
Thank you for a great dinner, all four of us enjoyed our dinner very much.
Service was very slow today. Food was poorly made today too. We come to Earl's because we always get good food and service. However, today was disappointing. Dynamite rolls were missing the prawns (rectified and given new one) and Margherita pizza was only a cheese pizza (no basil). Took half an hour and three reminders to finally receive drink refills, never got sour cream we requested and it took a while to get our food. We do understand that it was quite busy. However, we never recieved such slow service before and poorly presented food.
Our server was excellent. We had brunch and my bill was under $15 total. That's a great deal and the food was amazing!
Always great food and service. Food as fresh and so great.
Great food, service and ambience. Really enjoyed the atmosphere.
The restaurant is lovely and has a good vibe. Staff was knowledgable and attentive. My single complaint is that the chicken in my Caesar salad was stringy and dry. Very disappointing because the rest of the salad was delicious .
overall good experience, only 2nd time caesar quantity was different...
Will be back. Greeted quickly and seated. Food came fast and tasted great. Happy hour pricing extended to our booking time.
Earls is always consistent with good service and good food.
Two of us ordered the Quinoa and Avacado salad and neither of them had avacado on them. The waiter took so long to come and check to see if our food was OK that we had started eating and when he finally brought us the missing avacado we had finished our salad.
It is great that there is now gluten free buns and pizza crusts. As well as vegan options. Thank you.
My weekend started with a surprise date from my husband. Earls have been on my foodie bucket list for long. So, my husband decided to check this place off from my list.
I would suggest to make a reservation either on call or thru apps like Open Table.
They have four kinds of seating arrangement: Patio, Lounge and Dining and atrium.
We kicked off our evening with their snacks:
Chilli Chicken + Wontons: Crispy wontons piled high on tender chicken is the perfect appetizer to start with.
Followed by main course:
Margherita Pizza: We decided to go with little light main course. Ordered this lite and yummy pizza topped with house made sauce, mozzarella and chiffonade basil.
Yucatan Chicken Tacos: Finally, my favourite part of order has come. Chicken Tacos served with your choice of fries (Regular, Garlic and Yam). I loved this dish completely and i would definitely recommend everyone to try this.
Value for Money: 4/5
Server was efficient. Table was ready when we got there and we did not have to wait. The fish and chip was not very good as I found it very greasy especially the fries since the 2 piece of fish was directly placed over it. Definitely way better than the Sherwood park location
This is a lovely Earls! We were there on a Monday evening, so it was quiet, but out waitress was fantastic, and the food was good. I’ll definitely be back!
Our server was delightful, her service perfect and knew when to come to the table and when to leave us. I didn’t get her name... My only negative was that the clam chowder - which is delicious - was not as hot as I would like it but I perhaps am not normal with my definition of hot!!
Hi Abigail, Thank you so much for your review of Earls South Commons! I'm happy to hear you had great service at our location. However, I'm sorry to hear that the clam chowder was not hot! Please ask for me the next time you stop by, I'd love to introduce myself, buy you a piping hot clam chowder, and thank you for your kind review in person. Kind regards, Benjamin Wolff von Selzam, General Manager
I took my wife to your restaurant for her birthday. We met friends there for what should have been a nice evening. We were seated by a very friendly girl and our drink order was taken quickly and served quickly. Our friends showed up after the group of approx. a 12 person group and the service went to hell. The drinks ordered to have before the meal showed up after the meal showed up. The steak I ordered was to be Medium Well, it arrived bleeding on my plate, as was my buddies steak . My wife's Fish was greasy to the point that she took one bite and left the rest after eating only a bit of mashed potato and Asparagus. The waitress as good as she was, was slammed in that area. That group took her away from the rest of the people. She was the only highlight if there was one as she genuinely did try hard.
Our drinks emptied, our meal was done and we were ignored due to that group again. There was more concern that her Birthday balloon was retrieved that floated to the roof than serving the rest of the patrons. We spent a couple hundred dollars and were not happy. We used to love coming there, great times. The Earls we knew is only there in name Now.
I love coming to your location because you are one of the only earls in Edmonton and surrounding areas that serve Chicken Fingers and it’s my favorite thing on the menu.
I come to Earl's regularly. But this is the first time for brunch. I had the country breakfast. Felt like the food sat on the counter a while. It was cold, bread tasted either stale or not toasted, eggs were overly salted and sausage was cold. The bacon was the only one thing enjoyable. My cousin ordered their eggs benedict and it was also cold. Her potatoes were close to being burnt. Very disappointed in their brunch menu, as I'm always happy with their regular menu.
My girlfriends and I stopped in for a catch up dinner. Our food was fabulous and our waiter was perfect. He realized early on what our needs would be and he gave us the perfect service for our night. I am horrible with names, I wish I would have remembered his, he made our night. The restuarant was a little chilly but it was -20 outside so it was expected with the doors opening throughout the night. Overall great experience.
Food was good - Earls is consistent and service was excellent!
Great food. Very friendly staff. Excellent service.

I'm thrilled to hear we delivered this to you on your recent visit! Please ask for me the next time you're in the restaurant, I'd love to introduce myself and thank you in person! I find it very noisy so to have a great conversation is hard work. The food was good and our waitress was lovely.
Hi Brandrea, Thank you for your review! I'm happy to hear you enjoyed the food and service with us! However, it is concerning to hear that the ambiance was too noisy, could you please email me details at firstname.lastname@example.org? I look forward to hearing from you soon! Kind regards, Benjamin Wolff von Selzam General Manager, Earls South Commons
"I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friend's home. I definitely would return to try more dishes. The Cajun Salmon is very good. The other Chicken Tacos are very tasty. Service was well-timed and friendly, wines were affordable."
Not very memorable. Food was average and the waiter was stand-offish. We had to wait about ten minutes each time to speak to our waiter.
Overall a very good experience with well prepared food and a pleasant atmosphere.
Not a gluten free friendly menu. Limited items and the Kung Pai Chicken did not have rice noodles available. It’s not Kung Pao with rice!
Our visit was a catch-up of a year gone by for 2 friends with busy lives. Lots of pictures to see, lots of stories and just overall "how you been doing". We talked without having to scream over loud music....thank you for that. Our server was wonderful ! Food was great ! Overall a 5🌟 experience. Not my first visit.
Definite choice to revisit Earls S.Common for those reasons and more.
The restaurant is very well laid out and has a great atmosphere. Reservation s are recommended if you are planning to dine in the dining room. The bar area is a great place to watch sports and doesn't require a reservation. The food is good value with plenty of healthy options. Servers are attentive and are well trained.
The server was not friendly and judged my friend for only ordering a coffee (she was feeling bad, thus could not eat). Please teach staff how to be unbiased. Thank you.
Always great food and great service. That’s why we keep going back.
Usual Earl's experience, except that the service was unusually slow this time. Our server seemed to be covering more tables than usual.
A great place for girls night out before the movies. The menu allows for many options from a light dinner to a full meal. The atmosphere is relaxing and the noise level is just right.
We had a very positive experience and our reservation was for 6:30 but the movie was not as long as we expected and we were seated about 30 minutes early with no fuss and no waiting.
Food was great...however we had the worst service I think we’ve ever had(top 5 for sure). Took over 15 minutes after being seated to have anyone come by for even a glass of water. Once we finally ordered and the food arrived 2 out of 4 people didn’t have cutlery...which took another 10 minutes before someone our server came by to get us forks so we could eat our now much colder food. She was friendly, however service just wasn’t her forte.
