A very nice restaurant on the verge of greatness. Our waiter seemed new and a little slow but the atmosphere and food was outstanding.
Usually a great place. Had to send food back for them to get it right and they never checked back. When neither of the two dishes were eaten, they choose to ignore this and place the bill on the table. Last time I will go there.
Found Earl's quite by accident when looking for a dinner option after a movie. This was convenient to the theatre so we decided to give it a try, and it was GREAT! We would highly recommend Earl's!
The service was excellent, friendly, knowledgeable and enjoyable. Food very good, lots of good options
Earl's is a cool spot - beautifully decorated with lots of food options. But it felt too fancy and overpriced for what it really was - like it's trying to be a super Instagrammable, trendy spot when it's essentially in a strip mall and the food is good, but didn't blow me away (especially the smaller portion sizes). Good for our business lunch - it was very quiet in there with maybe 20 diners - but I don't think I'd be back for brunch or dinner with friends on my own dime.
Really good food and good service. Had a live guitarist that was also a nice touch. Drinks were well poured and vibe was really intimate and chill. Highly recommend
Great place to warm up on a winter's day. The Bloody Mary's rock.
The service was excellent.
My family and I love eating here!
We came in for a late lunch and were seated in their large booth in the bar. The restaurant is very open, with windows all around and had a very casual vibe which is what we were looking for. We ordered the avocado toast which was just ok... definitely not worth the $9.50 and then had the burgers. I specifically asked for very well done and Wes very annoyed to see a bright red line down the middle.... this was cooked medium at best. As it took quite a while to even get our food which I couldn’t understand given that there were only 4 other parties there, I didn’t say anything. I do need to say that our server was polite and prompt. Overall, I’d only come back in the summer to sit on the patio which looked very nice for a drink.
We like Earl's Kitchen because it is convenient and the food is good. Unfortunately, on our most recent visit, the wine we selected was not available. We were a little surprised because it was on the printed list, but sometimes that happens. Too bad our server could only recommend substitutions that were more than a 50% markup from what we originally ordered. That, despite the fact that the featured wine was slightly less expensive than our original choice. So beware when you order a bottle of wine.
Had a great lunch! They have a $20 lunch & wine special on Fridays - made for a great lunch with my friends.
My date and I each ordered the peppercorn steak. Please, do not order the steak here. This is a sports bar trying to be fancier than it really is. I ordered my steak medium rare and it came out well done. 0 pink on the inside and the outside was CHARRED and CRISPY like it had been sitting on the grill for WAY too long. The side of asparagus was bland and had to be overly salted for any taste.
For anyone that reads this, please treat this place like a sports bar and order bar food like a cheeseburger. I’m hoping that they can’t mess up a burger for your sake.
we did enjoy Earl's for the food and the location that was ideal to the movie theatre. Where I would say we were disappointed was that the service did not seem to be very quick...Drinks took about 10 min after being ordered, we told the server we were on a time line that we were specific and it sounded like that was clear, but we almost missed the movie....I think part of that was on us not allowing enough time, but again drink service was slow, and drinks ordered up came on the rocks and visa versa, so some challenges there....but I would recommend it and just plan accordingly.
Earls has good food but very uneven service. I went to Earls with a friend after a movie. It wasn't very crowded. Our server was nice enough, just nowhere to be found when my dish arrived with cilantro all over the tacos after I requested they hold the the cilantro. We had to flag down other servers to get water refills. Our server only showed up at the end of the meal to drop off our check. The food was delicious, once I extracted the cilantro.
Not crowded when we were there for lunch, lots of variety in food available so it suited everyone. We were able to talk easily at our table and had a good time with out of town relatives. First time visit there for all of us. Delicious food and great service.
Service was poor. Food timing was poor. The room was cold and drafty. Table was wet when we were sat. We I wiped it with my napkin it was disgusting. We will not be back. Earl should ask to have his name removed from the building.
It was delightful. A holiday lunch with great friends made memorable by great service, lovely space, and terrific service.
Service was very poor, even though we were right next to the bar station our waitress was no where to be found. Should have left after appetizers, truffle fries were cold and chicken wings were so tiny we spoke with manager and she took them back. Can’t believe they served them, and at that price! Burger and chicken sandwich were marginal at best. If you’re in Lincoln Park area there is NO reason to eat here. Will give it points for atmosphere.
Love Earl’s Bibibap! Great for before or after ArcLight theater.
Our steak.was over cooked and salad came without avocado as described on the menu. When we mentioned it the food delivery person said they were out of avocado in a way that we should have known that. the steak replacement took almost a half an hour. No one came to say anything or apologize for the situation or that the new steak was taking so long. i mentioned how long it took to get a replacement she said the kitchen had other things to do. the other people at our table was long finished with their dinner.
the restaurant ultimately took the steak and salad off the bill. No management ever came to apologize for the bumbled mistakes which amongst all the debacles we will not return.
Food was cold when we got it. The manager was apologetic and reimbursed us for it but it put a major damper on the dinner
Great experience. Will definitely be going back. Good service and good food. Great Prices!!!
Good food and nice open layout. With the restaurant half empty, we didn’t expect to have to flag down our waiter every time so we had to get someone else’s attention. Some items arrived cold, and we ended up not ordering as much because, well, we only have so much time to eat and get out of there. I’d this is a good option with their nice layout, good food but not good if you’re in a hurry.
Earl's has become a staple for my friend group. It's not a place that takes a lot of thought. It's just good food, good drinks, and great atmosphere/lighting. It can get a little loud after work and at night because of the large open space, but when you go with friends...who cares?! I absolutely love sitting outside by the fire pits and having cocktails no matter the season! We recently went for a low key birthday dinner, MINE, and it was just perfect. I'm a vegetarian and several of my friends are foodies and we always find great options.
Food was very good as was the service. We’ll definitely be returning!
Ambiance was good but the food was gross. Everything was just full of salt. Would not recommend to anyone.
Steak was okay but the hot Thai wings were amazing!
Holiday reunion of family and friends
It was a very good dinenr
Kind of a suburban spot with not great service. Not impressed. Would go back with like my Dad.
Great food and atmosphere! Can't wait to go back!
I selected Earls Kitchen + Bar based on the five-star ratings it achieved on Open Table. It is not a five-star restaurant. There was nothing wrong with our experience, but there was also nothing exceptional or even "very good" about our experience.
Great new place. Been there twice on a week, with different friends; everyone loved it. Excellent trout, grass-fed burger, steak, tuna; shrimp appetizer; Walton Street greens salad and wedge Caesar; turtle pie dessert; wine is a bit pricey.
Will try more on future visits.
Earls was amazing! One of our party needed to leave ahead of the rest of us. They did a great job getting her food ordered ahead of time to make sure she got to her other commitment on time and well fed.
The rest of us were paced appropriately and enjoyed our meal. Everything was great!
Always a fan of their specials! Really enjoyed the live music. The acoustic guitar singer from Friday 11/09 was really good. Set the perfect vibe to the place.
We ordered the chicken burger but they were not up to the hype. The sever, ambiance and everything else was good.
Server provided most expensive Chardonnay without asking our preferences. Otherwise great as always!
Good enough for after the movies or if you get hungry shopping.
We went to Earl's in Vancouver (Yaletown location) and the Chicago location didn't disappoint as the food, service, ambiance and value was really good. However, it was a bit loud due to the live music (a singer) that seemed to consume the venue.
