Earls Kitchen + Bar - King Street
Our waitress was very friendly and attentive
Love the new decor , the last 2 times I have been- October and now November it has felt cold. Others put there outdoor jackets, scarves etc on. My only complaint however it is distracting to feel so chilled while dining.
Great food! Service was very good. It did take 7 minutes for the wait staff to come back after giving us the menus to take our drink order- that seemed a little slow to us. Every other interaction was excellent - timing, food explanations etc. with this wait staff.
The food was disappointing. Undercooked vegetables in every dish(potato salad, Brussels sprouts and cauliflower in a salad and asparagus as a side). Steak, although cooked medium rare as asked, tasted of charcoal. It seemed like it was cooked on a grill that wasn’t cleaned recently. We were going to a show otherwise I would have sent it back.
Ordered a red wine which was good but as I came close to finishing it I noticed a bitter taste. I thought it was the steak but then I noticed a substantial amount of sediment in my glass. I guess they poured the last drop. I believe the glass was $16.75 for 6 ounces.
As for service one of our party was still eating when the other plates were cleared. Not very courteous. No questions asked about the food remaining on the plates.
Brought the issue to attention of manager who offered desserts which we declined. We ended up with a %15 discount. It was a Saturday and busy but the quality just was not there at half the price.
Service is brutal. Waiters and hostess don't really understand concept of service. It's like they are doing you a favour. I hate it.
Weekend happy hour brunch is the best value in the city..had booked a table days before...but the seat we got was right next to the kitchen...I am sure we could have been moved but I did not request.....next time I will request a better seat..
Headed to Earl’s before going to the ballet a few blocks away. The place is busy and energetic, although a bit loud to have a conversation with the 3 people at the table.
If there were on thing to improve, it would be the service in terms of their attention to details. Coming to the table and not knowing who had ordered which dish, putting glasses down and requiring us to move them around the table, and a waitress who hadn’t tried everything on the menu (so she couldn’t give recommendations) were little points that made Earls just good, but great. But overall, it’s a place that does a good job of being a slight less expensive option in the area with a good environment and ambience.
Server was really nice. My 8 oz steak was awful, 6 oz of fat. A special talent was needed to butcher that piece into something like that.
We asked to add a side of sautéed mushrooms, that tasted awful.
It was our first (only?) time at Earls.
Earls never fails to impress. Great food, amazing service, excellent decor and ambiance. I love coming here!
Decent location to downtown convention center and hotels. Worked good for business meal and food was good. Value fits in with expensive downtown prices.
We love the food. Hope that they have candles next time for special occasions like bday party!
Great atmosphere and food was perfect. One minor mishap with my husband's soup arriving with his main course. Other than that everything was perfect. Would recommend!
Great location and staff. Food and service was excellent. Thank you
I liked the restaurant. Unfortunately we were told in the middle of eating our dinner that we had to move. They had mistakenly seated us in a spot where they realized they needed to seat a party of 10. They moved us and just as I was about to finish eating, another waiter whisked my food off the table without asking. They offered us free desserts. Nice but not really good enough! Overall disappointing as we had been given a recommendation to go there.
As always - a pleasant backdrop for meetings and gatherings.
Very good moment
The noise level is too loud. The food was good. The service was great from Emily. It’s a fun place and accessible for theatre goers.
My husband and I came to Toronto for a concert and decided to come early and grab dinner before the show. We arrived early at Earls and was seated right away. We took advance of the happy hours and had drinks and appetizers. The food was excellent and our waiter was outstanding with recommends. Would recommend Earls and we will be back again.
I will go again just for the gingerbread cake!
Group of four with different tastes, everyone loved their food.
I would definitely recommend Earls on King. The previous visit was amazing, great waiter, very attentative, in a quieter place within the bar that permitted conversation where we didn't have to shout. This last time wasn't as good. The food and price were still great (visited during happy hour). The first waitress left our table before we had finished ordering drinks/food. When she returned with the drinks, she had to take more orders (didn't write anything down and had to ask for confirmation of orders). She seemed almost bothered to be serving us and wasn't efficient with her service - eg; why not wait a couple more minutes, take all our orders and return to the table only once. Also, the noise level in the bar was VERY loud which made having a conversation incredibly difficult and we had to shout to be heard.
Great food as always, server was a bit slow and didn’t have the best table demeanour, amazing happy hour value.
Food was delicious!
It was and is always way too loud in your restaurant. Have been there a few times. In addition to the loudness of people talking, likely more loudly because it is so loud in your restaurant, the music is over the top loud as well. It is not a place to spend with friends talking and getting caught up. We had to shout to each other just to barely be heard and even after shouting, we missed most of our conversation. We will not be back to the restaurant.
Service was amazing! Food was great too! Will definitely come back again.
Good table service by Alice. The food was tasty. I had the Jamaican jerk chicken. Portions were moderate to large. Noisy place - difficult to have a good conversation.
Great service, meal and ambience!
Fantastic food, service and atmosphere. Really enjoyed the outing.
One of our orders was incorrect and the rest were either not hot enough or too salty. Waiter didn't come and ask how everything was. I would not come back here!
We come back to Earls because of their delicious Caesars that never disappoint. We had to check out the newly renovated King Street location and were delighted by the facelift. Our server was lovely and surpassed our needs and really took care of us from start to finish. We will definitely be coming back!
Terrible service by the waitress
One of the best places in downtown, delivering outstanding service.
I and my group of friends was Slightly disappointed that the earls king location ran out of the thanksgiving dinner special. But was super great full our waitress went above and beyond to make sure that our group was taken care of properly. Especially when the steaks wasn't cooked right she had it got all send back and make sure it is made to order. She even went beyond to comp us with appetizers and desserts. Thank you so much!
Service was kind of slow. Drinks took too long
The dining area is too loud and the sun was bouncing off a window out side. Th reflection was pretty blinding. ...something needs to be done to dampen the sound in there as well. The food was good and the service was excellent but that dining room makes for a super unpleasant experience - especially if you're with clients.
The waitress Emily we had was atrocious. She was rude and was discriminatory against a speech impediment I had calling me drunk instead. We went there for my friends birthday dinner and it was the biggest mistake we made. When asked for the manager he was no help nor made the situation any better. The staff was absolutely awful. Very disappointed and upset with the service. Would never go back.
Brunch very good.
Ambience very good.
A little cold on the patio with the wind this Sunday but patio heaters compensated for that.
Also it a little quieter than the middle of the week.
But far easier to park on Sunday.
If you can get here on time, come for the early bird brunch specials.
Though the atmosphere was very nice and we had a good seat (we made reservations ahead of time), the food wasn’t too good, and for the pizza, it’s a thin cracker-like crust. Not worth it in my opinion for $20. My friends got other things and they said it was pretty good. Our waiter was friendly.
We tried Earls after a long day of touring Niagara Falls. We enjoyed our drinks and our meal. We tried the Teriyaki Chicken Rice Bowl and the Chicken Tacos. Both were very good! This is a real happening place with a big crowd on a Friday night. I would definitely recommend trying!
Food and service were both fantastic. Dining area was way too noisy. Very hard to carry on a simple conversation.
