Earls Kitchen + Bar - King Street
Great service and menu. Very reasonably priced. Decent amount of business people out for lunch. Place was full without feeling crowded.
Ordered an 8oz rare steak, got a 6oz medium rare steak. Pretty disappointed. Talked to the servers about it and they were at first confused why I knew the size of the steak (I weighed it) and then they were hesitant to believe me. Finally agreed to charge me for a 6oz, which is $2.00 less..... Overall a disappointing meal.
Very attractive restaurant with a variety of seating options. Friendly staff, very good food quality and excellent presentation. Good value
I celebrated my 22nd birthday with a couple of friends at Earls. I booked a table for 8 on Saturday at 9PM. The food was super delicious and the Service was awesome too. It was my first time at Earls and I will definitely come back again!! :-)
My server, Niki, was great; she was friendly and responsive. Sadly, my meal was disappointing; overcooked and overpriced.
Great layout and ambiance. Host and server were good. Limited menu, but items offered were unique, well presented and delicious. Wine and beer list was limited with least expensive wine startling at $53. Normally my wife and I enjoy wine with dinner, but spending $75 for midpoint wine was a turnoff. Would we go again? Maybe. But there are a lot of other interesting looking restaurants close to this one to try first.
We were seated promptly for our reservation on a busy Saturday evening (pre-theatre crowd and Raptor's game night). Service was very friendly and efficient. Drinks and cocktails creative and reasonable in price. Our waitress was very friendly - asked for our names (never had that before) and referred to us by name for the remainder of the night. We found the quality of food terrific, service superb and would return again without worry. This was a very busy restaurant with some larger parties - but this never took away from the attentive staff at any point.
Wonderful wait staff. Hawaiian coconut shrimp was excellent and the Salmon Zen bowl was a great mixture of tastes.
Will return as they were very accommodating and the food and drinks were excellent.
Everything was fine but the servers could have been a little more attentive. My drink was empty for 15+ minutes. I probably would have had time to get another one if they had been paying attention and it was not that busy.
It was good but a little too noisy. The food was great and the drinks were amazing.
Great experience every time. Favourite brunch spot.
We had a group of 10 for dinner on Saturday night. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and there were a lot of options - something for everyone! I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Great service, great food and atmosphere.
This was our first visit. Cocktails in the lounge as we were early for our reservation. Lovely ambiance in the lounge. Restaurant was terrific as well. Food so yummy and our server was helpful with questions. Will totygo again.
Great value for weekend happy hour brunch. Service was really good.very attentive sever, pleasant and friendly..
Asked for more Wasabi and did not get any. The cappuccino was cold. Did not complain at that time as I was entertaining clients.
I wasn't very impressed with my recent lunch at Earl's. First of all, the table that they reserved for us was tight for 10 people and very uncomfortable(Bar area). If all we were going to do was drink maybe it would have been suitable but we were there for lunch and we had no elbow room and could barely cut or handle our food without jabbing the person beside us. The Cajun Chicken was brought out in some small cast iron pan which was different than what it's been normally served in a regular spacious plate. It was difficult to cut the chicken because of the depth of the pan and those that substituted the sides, they were brought out in small side dishes. If you tried to put them all in one plate they didn't fit side by side. We ordered coffee and they came without spoons so we couldn't stir it. Very disappointed in this recent visit.
They do not pick up the phone no matter how many times you call. We called to tell them that we were going to be late due to downtown traffic and to hold our table but they didn’t pick up. They ended up giving our table away and gave us a table that was going to be needed in less than an hour so we were rushed out. I really didn’t like being rushed or the fact that they did not even try to contact us about our reservation. This was for our anniversary and I wish it could have went better.
We went early afternoon, was not too busy, food was excellent along with good service would definitely go there again.
Rather disappointed with first time visit.Food was OK but took the server 3 attempts to get the bill right.Wine service is deplorable. Under the guise of getting 50% off, a bottle of wine is served from a carafe, being told that it is the same wine but they buy it in bulk and serve from carafes. No chance to prove the provenance of the wine-no label, no cork (if available) to confirm proper storage, no indication if the volume purchased was in fact served. Noise level took away from ambiance-note hard ceilings.
It was my second visit and I was very disappointed in the food and the service. First there were very few gluten free options. Almost every dish (even the ones that would normally be GF) had some element that had or "may contain" gluten. The other person I was with has a full allergy, not an intolerance. She ended up ordering the salmon with no sauce and modified rice. Yes, even the rice had an added gluten element. The manager did come over and confirm that the kitchen would ensure there was no contamination in her meal which was appreciated. I also ordered the salmon but unmodified. The salmon tasted good but was overcooked and dry for both of us. Next our server seemed to have been assigned too many tables and was not able to keep up. She brought our sparkling water, took our orders and then we didn't see her again for over 30 minutes. I had requested a glass of wine with my meal and it was not brought out. Our server came by about 10 minutes after our meals were served to let me know the wine I had requested was sold out. I told her I no longer needed the wine as my meal was half finished. I still left her a very generous tip as I felt it was not entirely her fault. Then I got home and noticed she did not remove the $20 wine charge from my bill. Yes I should have checked before paying and I usually do but of course this time I didn't. There are so many great restaurants in Toronto so I will never be back.
We arrived for our 4:45pm reso on time. It was 15minutes before we were greeted by our server and to have drink orders taken. Then it was 1/2 hour before the drinks came. So we ordered then and made a point of letting the sever know that we had to get someone to the airport. 30 mins for food to come left us with a (leisurely?!) 1/2 to eat our food. Disappointing.
I had a margarita in a lowball glass that I thought was odd. My son's kale salad wasn't very good at all but the rest of our food was good.
When we arrived, there was one large table behind us and a few other 2 person tables in the section. Not busy so no excuse for the poor service. They placed us in an awkward spot- right beside the large loud table behind us. Next time i make a reso i will spexify everything. Seriously, not an inexpensive dinner. Overall Disappointing!
It’s our go to place whenever we’re in the city. I would recommend it to everyone.
Great overall experience close walk to theatre Dominique was wonderful! Forgot to mention my Mirvish discount that was offered☹️. Next time!
Had the cajun chicken and it was very good. Would recommend that!!
Service is always terrible with servers always rushed
My 8oz steak looked more like a 6oz steak
My vegetarian daughter did not enjoy her meal and felt was very limited. She would have had a harder time when she was vegan just a couple months ago. Otherwise it was a good night out with family.
New Year’s Day late afternoon downtown after theatre can pose availability problems. Good location and attractive with very good service. Caesar salad starter a bit limp, but passable - maybe not kept cool between orders or mixed too early. Not the best start. Cajon salmon and short ribs excellent. A bit pricey, but it’s downtown. Will look elsewhere next time but keep it on the list.
Mediocre service. Appetizers and drinks were forgotten and we were only given forks for our entrees. The server was impossible to get a hold of to ask for knives. Would not recommend.
The drinks were a rip-off: over priced and watered down. The food was OK. The best were the ambience and comfy lounges.
Had an amazing New Year’s Eve experience. Food came out really quickly and was delicious. I love that they have a plant based menu !
the resturant is very nice, the staff very frirndly, food was great. we woould go again for sure.
Great！our waiter is very friendly! Good for birthday! Price is comfortable!
It’s a nice place but I was not impressed by the food.
I could tell my homefries had been sitting under the light for a long time.
Our waitress was very nice about it.
First visit to Earl's over the holiday week and we picked this restaurant on Open Table as my BF and I were meeting some friends who came into the city by GO train. Great location as we were staying at the Doubletree on Chestnut St and it was an easy walk. Happy hour mimosas, great brunch options and nice ambiance. We were all happy with our meals, so we even decided to stay beyond lunch and enjoy another round of drinks. The waitress even took our pic for us which was nice. Highly recommend Earl's!
Great food. Great service
Main course and bills came slow. Spent 1-1/2 hours which is pretty long for lunch.
Great atmosphere and location. Only issue, is making sure food is fresh. I’m pretty sure all the mashed potatoes they served that night were frozen at one point.
We made reservations for 4 pm and got there early but lots of confusion on when we would be seated. We waited not knowing for how long but then ended up getting a table right away. It all worked out and we had a nice dinner.
