Earls Kitchen + Bar - Calgary Tin Palace
Earl's has predictably good and trendy food and excellent service. I would prefer a quieter setting. The open concept doesn't support that, though.
We went for their happy hour, which is a great value. One of my guests was seated at the wrong table & sat for 20 minutes waiting for everyone else to arrive. The rest of us were sitting at a different table across the restaurant the entire time. They apologized for the oversight, but they should have given her a free glass of wine or something for seating her at the wrong table entirely.
Great restaurant and the food is outstanding. My only suggestion for improvement is for better attentive service. Once we received our meal, we had to flag down the service staff to order more and the bill. Our server never came around to check on us or refill the coffees.
Our waitress was great, her name was Tamber and she made it great!
Usually this location has great food. We ordered the Cajun salmon, the New York Steak, and a Salad with shrimp. The shrimp on the salad could had no seasoning what's so ever. The salad had a few seeds and a lot of dressing (even though dressing was requested on the side). The steak was cooked as ordered but it lacked the flavor we expect from Earls. The Cajun Salmon was good. Good seasoning and portion.
Everything was incredible! The food was amazing, I at every last bite.
I liked the interior the most, it is really elegant and at the same time convenient place. The food was also good, but portions should have more healthy options.
Always good service. Great location. Fun for families
Food was hot, fresh and nicely presented. The waiter was friendly and attentive. The restaurant was 3/4 full but conversation was not difficult. Ambience was comfortable. Would return again. The lunch menu is diverse for all types of diners.
The salmon was very dry......
Lunch with girlfriends - Earls is always a great place for any occasion!
The staff was very nice and quick. It was a very nice ambience and positive experience overall :)
We stayed long enough for two server changes and in between the servers it was very difficult to get any service. Happy hour prices are resonable but main menu is to expensive for the type of restaurant.
Good as always
Needed more waitresses or waiters Slow service as lots of large parties came in at once. You should be prepared for this. It’s not an excuse for slow service. Waited forever to get drinks and our food. One order was sent in wrong by our waitress. My sister, ( the birthday girl) got her meal after we were all done eating. The waitress should have took her meal off our bill. She did apologize for the slow service.
Earls is a place you can count on for great service and good food. Tin Palace has a cool vibe and the location is perfect!
The plant based section is phenomenal! I was thrilled to see that. Great service as always.
Enjoyed great and attentive service even when busy.
The Steak and Salmon were delicious! The service was great! It was a wonderful mid-week date night!
Our meals were excellent, the ribs and teriyaki rice bowl. Our waitress and attentative and accommodating. The noise level was dreadful! There was a loud group sitting across from us which made it impossible to have much conversation.
Great local restaurant, family friendly, with delicious food. Highly recommended!
Temperature was cool in restraunt, of 5 in our group 4 were cold. Hostess was too quick when refilling water glass, darted arm into space between guests. There were a large number of people arriving at same time around 6:30. Our meal was a long time coming yet no one explained until our meal was served that the kitchen was overwhelmed. Would have appreciated being advised our orders would be a bit delayed due to busy time. Food overall was good. One steak ordered medium was near raw.
Treated so poorly by manager when I asked a couple of basic questions about the bill. The main issue of two was the price charged was different than what was on the menu we ordered from - I think they had increased the prices but forgot to replace on our particular menu which we ordered from and do all the time. He argued with me wanting evidence (in front of my child) over less than $10 and it got so bad I had to finally begged to just pay and leave. Ruined our night. Have lost touch with decency and customer service over time and with younger managers unfortunately.
Luckily this hasn’t been our experience every time but incredibly disappointed 😞 with management as a regular customer for over 20 years.
Great food and service!
This is clearly a favourite place to go. Love the menu. The servers are all great. My dad is 90 and they always cater to him and take special care of him. We especially like the location, closeness to parking and the fact you can make a reservation
The appetizer (calimari) was enjoyable. The lettuce in my Caesar salad was wilted and not crisp. My mushroom soup was luke warm, likely as a result of being put into an ice cold bowl. A diner at an adjacent table sent her noodle bowl back because it was too greasy.
The experience could have been nothing but exceptional as the reservation was on time, the hostess welcoming, efficient and friendly, the food timely and awesome. The problem was that our server was either inexperienced or having a bad day... I will stop shy of saying terrible. She was friendly and apologetic for her errors but there were just too many.
On the arrival of coffees, there were no spoons or even alternate cutlery to stir with.
Coffee was empty for the bulk of our time and the only refill (after asking) came approx. 10 min later, and after our bill which we asked for in between.
When the food arrived there was still no cutlery even though this was pointed out earlier when we had nothing to stir the coffee with.
I requested a high chair in my reservation and I was told that they didn’t have one after several minutes of miscommunication. Not a family friendly place!
Great happy hour for drinks and food! Love their chicken street tacos and flatbread. Been here several times for happy hour and it never disappoints.
Chicken Fettucine Alfredo - pasta was lukewarm to tepid. Fairly bland. This is the second time. Last time I sent it back; this time I started with ribs (happy hour price) and they were very good. Since I filled up on ribs, I took the Alfredo home for a re-warm.
Less than an hour after being at our reservation we we’re asked to move to a different table as they had poorly booked the space and needed to accommodate a large group. That was fine with us, we moved without an issue. But after they moved us the the furthest spot in the room (next to the back bar), not only was the new seating less desirable, the waitress forgot about us! Someone else served our food we ate and waited 30 mins after eating before seeing her again. As nice folks we tipped the minimum they asked for which is now 16% but we didn’t feel it was worked for! Also on the way out because of this wait, my date received a parking ticket! We paid 2.5 hours of parking had an appetizer and dinner. It took us 3 hours total! I think the service was a let down but the food was good.
We found your restaurant to be extremely noisy and had to talk loudly to have a conversation.
We had a lovely attentive waitress . The shared starter was lovely . I had to send my main course back as it wasn’t very hot . They apologised and brought out a new hot dish 10mins later . They also removed my meal from the bill .
We would go back again .
Not a good restaurant for a group bigger than 5. Tables are set up such that a group of 6 or more have to squeeze into a booth that is really sized for no more than 4 or 5 adults. On top of the cramped quarters the noise level is so high you can hardly have a conversation. Disappointing since the food and service are very good.
The food was amazing. Great service, not too loud. Very relaxing experience so we were able to really enjoy each-others company.
I think this particular Earls is the best in the entire chain. We are weekly visitors, and it is the highlight of the week. The happy-hour menu is ridiculously good value.
The very rare instances where we have run into any hiccups, staff and management have always been top quality - helpful, responsive but not over-bearing.
Good food and value
Food was average at best. Menu leaves a lot to be desired.
Was amazing the service was great and my food got out quickly which was awesome because I had a little girl with me
Service was very slow. Place was not busy.
We had to ask for a couple things twice like a side of ketchup. We asked for a new dish for soy sauce as the first was dirty. A runner brought a second one out but has spilled some sauce on it. She wiped it with her finger and said “oh it’s ok it’s only the sauce”
