E&O Kitchen and Bar Ratings and Reviews
Overall the experience was ok, very noisy the night we went in. Had to move to the bar to be able to talk and the tables were very close together. We ordered drinks and before our drinks were finished our food came out in fast succession and felt we were being rushed to get out of there. Overall the experience was ok, food decent but not exceptional and the spareribs were overdone. Not sure I'd go back.
Food was pretty good and atmosphere was also good. However waitress was very unpleasant and rushed us through the entire meal. I honestly didn’t even know her name cause the first thing she said after we waited 15 minutes at the table waiting for her was “you know what you want?”. She then brought appetizer at same time as meal and Our drinks didn’t even arrive until about 10 minutes after the food. Before we even finished eating the check was on the corner of the table without a single word from waitress.
We enjoyed our dinner and the ambience and the service. The black cod was delicious . It came with bok Choi - a little Potato in addition would have been wonderful. The other fish we ordered was also delicious. The Paneer nan appetizer was good but needed more paneer! The Resturant has a good wine list.
I come to E&O frequently for business related lunches. The setting is energetic, yet compatible for 1:1 conversation. The service staff is great -- efficient, hospitable, non-disruptive of conversations. I order the shiitake dumplings every single time. The lettuce cups on the small plate menu are phenomenal as well.
Went here for New Years dinner. Hostess and bar staff was awesome but once we got to our table, nobody greeted us and we just sat there for 15-20 minutes. Someone brought us water but they weren’t our server. We finally had to ask someone to send our server over and that woman said she would take our order but I don’t believe she was our server. They weren’t busy yet either and we saw several other tables get sat and served drinks and their orders taken. Once that woman did finally take our order, another person brought our food and we never did discover who our actual server was, they never presented themselves. It was weird, not the New Years dinner we were expecting.
Arrived early to enjoy the happy hour menu. We decided to sit at the bar. Had such a great time interacting with other guests and our fantastic bartender Andy, that we decided to eat there as well. Enjoyed the Pu Pu platter along with expertly made cocktails. The papaya salad and pad Thai capped a great evening. Will be going back!
I read the reviews before I went to the restaurant Mushroom dumplings were disappointing
Jasmin rice was not fragrant hust boiled Satay sauce was very heavy
Shrimps were like a piece of plastic
and the mango sauce was very watery , not thick enoughEggplant dish was good
I used to work across the street from E&O nearly 20 years ago and was surprised to find it when searching for Union Square eateries (I have since moved out of the area). It seems much better than then and it was a really good eating experience. Great to share delicious dishes in a really nice environment. Corn fritters were good but all dishes were quite tasty. I would go back to try other appealing dishes.
Found this restaurant on Trip Advisor on our Christmas visit to San Francisco. We had lunch and this was without a doubt one of the best Asian restaurants I have been to in a long time. Service was excellent, food was amazing, ambiance lovely, what more could we ask for! Will be back for sure..
We had our department holiday lunch here last week. We ordered lots of small plates and a couple mains. The food was good and the atmosphere pleasant. My only criticism is that although we were trying to make a lunch out of it the dishes came out quickly and randomly with little thought on how we would be sharing them. The dishes came out almost all at once and we felt very rushed which took away from our celebratory mood.
Right off of Union Square, this restaurant provides a lot of options. Casual bar snacks, long, luxurious dinners, and fun/electric bar scene. Meat-eaters and vegans can enjoy the same menu. Really fresh food. Good all around place for taking a break for downtown SF shopping and working.
Reservations at 6pm and we were seated promptly, which I do appreciate.
Ordered the roasted edamame (v tasty), brusselsprouts (over cooked), chicken satay (dry n peanut sauce had a milky taste to it which was weird), shaking beef (cooked medium rare, lots of blood so not our thing. Too over seasoned as well), fried green beans (ok), papaya salad (VERY sour to d point of bitter after taste. A little sugar would be nice) n lastly, sea bass (pretty well cooked n I personally liked the veggie underneath). Had jasmine rice 🍚 & brown rice, an iced tea n 2 🍻
Total bill, $180 including tips. They took off the papaya salad cos we sent it back which was considerate.
Nice restaurant or rather, drinking joint, but food is below average. Service was nothing to rave about cos we had to keep looking out for our server. So if you just want to do drinks n do not care much for the food, this place would be ok for that.
As always, we love going to E&O because the menu choices are varied and delicious. We were there on a Saturday afternoon and it was very busy. It seemed as though the wait staff was understaffed for how busy it was. While we waited for some of our dishes, they were delicious enough to make up for the wait. When we are in SF, we make every effort to make E&O one of our choices for lunch or dinner.
This is an excellent Pan Pacific restaurant. We had lunch this time, but, the last time we ate at E & O was for dinner. Both times we had very good food and excellent service. We love the unusual variety of dishes, and, especially love the ribs. We highly recommend E & O.
