We ate at the bar which was great fun. The bartender Andy was knowledgeable, personable and offered wonderful suggestions in addition to making drinks to our preferences. Always a great spot before a show, post shopping, catching up with friends or a business meeting.

On the great side - Amazing interesting food and many options - On the flip side....This place is very cramped - seems the seating is closer together and the volume is louder every time I come. It's reaching capacity for an enjoyable experience. I recommend you come off hours as much as possible.

Easy reservation, which worked well. Great interior, modern design. Food was average. Service was poor. Food was served not all at once, so we could not eat all together at the same time. Waitress showed low interest and engagement. Will not come back

We were looking for a good restaurant near the ACT Geary Theatre near Union Square and found this intriguing and wonderful restaurant! We came early at 5 PM when it opened on a Sunday, and it filled up rather quickly. This is a rather large restaurant with a long bar, and they know how to make an East Coast style martini! The chardonnay that wife had was excellent. The menu is a curious fusion of many Asian flavors, including Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Thai/Indochina, Indonesia, Indian, and French. We ordered oysters on half shell with Kimchi sauce (very fresh, wonderful sauces), Ahi tuna tartare (truly wonderful, fresh and delicious sesame oil hinted sauce), green papaya and cucumber salad (very fresh and tasty), salt and pepper calamari (crisp and tasty). For the main course, wife ordered the wood roasted char siu black cod, which was cooked just right with a delicate and tasty sauce, and I ordered their “famous” fritter burger, which uses corn fritters for the bun, and has many other fusion ingredients- this was huge and very tasty if a bit messy. The service was quite friendly and professional. This restaurant seems to be open 11 AM-11 PM except on Sundays when it opens at 5 PM. This Sunday evening, the noise level was reasonably quiet but one can imagine that it could be very lively on other nights, especially during the happy hour, which seems quite popular according to reviews. Our experience overall was quite positive- outstandingly delicious fusion food, excellent drinks, excellent service – we will definitely come back!

The food is imaginative and the service friendly without being intrusive.

Tasty food and a pleasant ambiance. Lively place with delicious oriental cusine and a slight hint of fusion! We made a reservation 10 minutes before coming but everything was set up perfectly upon our arrival and we got seated right away!

The food was unexceptional, and the service indifferent. My guest's Chinese Chicken Salad had little taste, and was a bit oily. My Asparagus Salad was a bit better, but still hardly worth the price for a modest portion of steamed asparagus and pea shoots, and a so-called Dragon Egg. The server seemed inexperienced, and failed to deliver a side dish that, when reminded, she admitted we indeed had ordered.

We had a very early reservation and the manager was kind enough to let us in to sit in the lounge before the restaurant was officially open. There was no delay in being served despite us being so early. Our waitress was attentive, efficient and knowledgeable. Food was great - everyone enjoyed sharing the small plates and we got to sample about 10 items. The only dishes we had reservations about were the Shaking Beef which had a lot of fat and gristle, and the prawn salad which was light and refreshing, but the flavors didn't come together - more like isolated (but tasty) ingredients. To my taste a couple of the sauces were a bit too sweet, but the spices were just right and didn't overwhelm the food. They guys enjoyed the beer selection and it was a very comfortable place to share a special night with friends.

We dined at E & O Kitchen for our anniversary because our Marriott Hotel recommended it, it was close to our hotel and we like Asian fusion meals. We were not disappointed. It was a bit hard to have a conversation because of the noise level, but we were not uncomfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed the food and our wine selection.

Messed up two of four orders - one for gluten free person and one vegetarian. They didn't notify us about the mishap until 15min into the meal and then had a bad attitude when asked to fix it.

My husband and I really enjoyed our meal here. We approached our experience by ordering smaller plates, tapas style. Our favorite was the Indonesian Fried Rice, followed by the beef satay. We found the chicken spring rolls just okay. We enjoyed our cocktails: the Bourbon Maple and the Moscow Mule (aka Ginger Vodka). We especially enjoyed the warm Ginger cookies for dessert (and took some to go, as we couldn't finish all of them). Our waiter was very attentive and offered great recommendations.

Amazing food and cocktails, with a bar stocked with only the finest spirits. Met a friend visiting town for dinner and he was impressed with everything he had, both food- and drink-wise. He's a rum aficionado and had two different runs there that he found quite excellent. The Asian fusion menu has a little something for everyone, and the combo of small and large plates will fit anyone's appetite. You can have an entree or try a series of small plates and be delighted with everything you eat. E & O is always a favorite.

I have enjoyed E&O for a long time. I enjoy many of the small plates, which are served so they may be shared with a companion. We also shared the black cod, which is extraordinary. The restaurant was crowded and noisy, which is normal for a Friday night. For that reason, I normally prefer an early dinner there or a late lunch.

Our party of four had a great dinner. Antonio our waiter was friendly, informative and accessible. Food was very good and I especially liked the option to order either small or large plates. We chose some of both and shared all of them. We really enjoyed the butternut squash dumplings and the satay platter. Also ordered the cod - delicious!!

Came here one night while visiting San Francisco with my wife. I read the great reviews so I had high expectations. Unfortunately, things didn't start off well. We had an 8:30 reservation and we arrived approximately 10 minutes early. The hostesses we're pleasant and told us that we'd have to wait approximately 10 minutes. The place was jam packed and we ended up having to wait over 30 minutes before being seated. At this point, my wife was very upset. Our waiter was a nice fellow but the combination of the noise level and the fact that he had a thick accent and was soft spoken made it very difficult to understand him. In addition, his service wasn't very attentive. I think he was stretched too thin because he was always busy often went over 10 minutes without checking in on us. Let's get to the food and drinks which were the only highlights of our night. Drinks were Dragon's Gate (great), Rye Spiced Apple (delicious) and Vodka Thai Basil (refreshing but weak). For food we had the Indonesian corn fritters (interesting and good), Butternut squash dumplings (small serving but absolutely delicious) and Indonesian fried rice (excellent rendition of fried rice). Unfortunately (again), despite ordering the meals at the same time, there was a 30 minute gap between when we received our corn fritters and when we received the other 2 plates. This left us sitting around for a while, after having finished our fritters, waiting for the rest of our food to arrive. The noise level is high but that doesn't bother us. The seating is a but tighter than we'd like. While the food would justify tge pricing, it is a bit high when you consider the rest of the experience. Overall, this restaurant serves delicious, high quality food and drinks but the service and ambiance doesn't match.

We wish we were seated inside, it was cold seating by the door.
The salsa (?) that came with the naan has no flavour, plain.
The corn fritter need more spices.
I love the dumpling and the sauce. The homemade ginger ale was good.

Food was not good. Chicken cups were practically inedible - too salty and not tasty. Chicken Satay was dry and served without any sauce. The host was unwelcoming and not helpful regarding seating. All in all, a disappointing experience.

The server did an excellent job taking care of our party of 9 + 1 baby. Food was delicious and served in a timely manner. She accommodated our variety of tastes and personalities, and even provided a piece of yummy cake for our birthday guy. A great time was had by all. I was the only one who had been to E&O previously, but I believe that 7 of the 8 other adults (1 from the East Coast) are from the greater Bay Area and will definitely return again. You made a great impression. Thank You!

We went pretty early, and found the restaurant to be quiet - that changed around 6:30 and the noise level definitely increased. Be warned that if you book reservations on Open Table, they won’t be for happy hour! We had an incredible 4 dishes to share between 2 people (definitely a bit too much). Do yourself a favor and ABSOLUTELY get the Japanese “Bop”. That crispy rice. That Sunnyside egg. It’s pure goodness. Also - the butternut squash dumplings. In a very delicate red curry sauce. SO good - definitely wishing we could have eaten our weight in them!

It's a good restaurant but their service isn't coordinated. We were not even half way through our appetizers and they brought in the main courses. Instead of realizing the mistake they just tried to make room on the table. Problem is that the main course (steak) will be cold by the time we'd be done with th e apetizers. A witress should realize that. We had to tell her and ask her to take the main courses away and not serve them until we were done with apetizers. They made a big deal out of the fact that they cooked me a brand new steak as if I should be impressed and thankful. It was their mistake, that as the least they could do. Had it not been for this, I think we would have been OK

Had not been here in well over 7 years and ended up going 2x in 2 weeks, it was SO GOOD !!! Both times I took out of town guests and they too loved it.
First visit, our server was Liza and she was lovely and a lot of fun. She was also very familiar with the entries and guided our decisions nicely. Also the pace of the dishes was perfect.

Food choices were:
Wood Roasted Edamame Beans ($7.00), The Best Edamame Beans I have ever had and perfectly salted and enough beans for 3 or 4 people.

Tamarind and Hoison Spare Ribs ($16.00) 4 meaty, juicy, melt in your mouth, finger licking good ribs. They were so tender you could even eat the bone. Honestly, I could have just had this and been very happy.

Citrus Avocado Salad ($13.00) dressed perfectly with an abundance of citrus, avocado and other ingredients. Think it was a special of the night. So fresh and pallet cleansing without being too acidic.

Last was the Char Siu Black Cod ($27.00) which melted in your mouth, it was like Butter. Nice generous piece of fish, worthy of sharing. Perfectly marinated and cooked to perfection.

All the servers were fantastic, on point but not intrusive.

I have to go back as soon as I can. In the interim, I will go for the Happy Hour, which looks fantastic !

Great job all the way around and nice improvement from the last time I went, well over 7 years ago. They have certainly stepped up their game in freshness, quality, creative dishes with interesting choices.
