I planned a company dinner here specifically for the restaurant week menu. Much to our dismay, we arrived, were seated, and upon asking to see the restaurant week menu, were told that the “ingredients didn’t arrive in time so they weren’t offering it that night.” This was very annoying and there was no remediation for their not offering what we specifically showed up for. Additionally, someone called that afternoon to confirm the reservation and it was not mentioned at all, so this issue could have easily been avoided with a bit of forethought. Overall, extremely underwhelmed and we ended up spending ~2.5x what we would have if they were offering the menu they were supposed to offer that night.
We had a reservation January 22nd which was the first day of Restaurant Week. When we were seated and tried to order the RW menu, they said it was not available due to shipping issues. We were disappointed as we were not notified beforehand and went there specifically for the wagyu beef.
The manager tried to piece together a menu for us for $40 which was very underwhelming. The food was not good and the quality was not what we'd expect for what we paid. Examples below:
- Mushroom dumplings were what you'd expect at Trader Joes, pretty standard
- The "Bap" which is their bibimbap was not served in a stone pot, the rice was inside this weird fried tempura block, and the vegetables were "slaw" style. I understand that its fusion but this did not taste good
- The Beef dish was too salty
- the duck buns tasted like "sliders" as in we thought it'd be more like peking duck but it tasted more like shredded duck (which does not go well with the buns)
As a result, we did not end up ordering dessert since we were so disappointed with our meal. I was so disappointed because I made this reservation in advance and my date and I were really really looking forward to this and I traveled all the way from Sunnyvale to come here. :(
It pains me to leave this review because the service was good but the food was simply not good.
E&O is a sure bet. From the food to the service they never disappoint.
Food was delicious. Lychee martini was just ok
It was very good other than the waitress never cracked a smile. The staff was efficient but not too welcoming.
This is a great restaurant, with nice decor, excellent service, and delicious food. The Famous Corn Fritters and the Nasi Goreng (Indonesian Fried Rice) were delicious, as were the spare ribs.
Talkative, helpful bartender; friendly, well-informed server.
The $35 lunch minimum announced at arrival was a surprise.
I've been here before but not for awhile! It was the first time dining there for my other colleagues. Our waiter was extremely patient, especially since we didn't learn until 35 minutes after our reservation time that one of our colleagues was really late and would only be "stopping by." Everyone enjoyed the experience a lot, thank you!
A great restaurant in Union Square area that is open early for dinner. We were seated in the back, which is a bit quieter during happy hour. The dishes we had were tasty and the portions were plentiful. Our waitress was attentive and knew what we needed before we did, which made for a great experience.
None of the abo
Tim was GREAT waiter!
Warm, friendly on a busy night. Sat us promptly and food was tasty. Worked well for Keto diet and kids.
Incredible Food and Service ! We had New Year’s Eve at the Bar and had an amazing time with our charming bartender.. This will probably be our place every New Years in San Francisco !
Excellent spicy chow menu but disappointing lamb naan. Good service, nice atmosphere
Very uneven food - either too over salted or too bland. Not worth the value. Service was attentive.
The wait staff was attentive without being intrusive, the food was (mostly) well-timed arriving to our table, and each item we ordered was delightful.
Stopped in to have dinner before our “Summer” show at the Golden Gate Theatre. The dining experience was very nice with delicious dishes and superb service.
The food was really good! Being that we had a late reservation, we felt very rushed to order, eat and leave. Apparently you have to order alcohol by 10:30pm and drink it by 11pm, as there is no alcohol aloud on the table past 11pm. I wish I knew that prior to going there, as we wanted to enjoy some wine with our meal, but really couldn't.
We had a great Xmas party business lunch. Food and service was excellent
Booked ahead on Open Table and was seated in the back by the kitchen. It was loud, hot and our food server was horrible. She would ask us if we needed anything, we would tell her (i.e. water, utensils,) and then never show up. She was not friendly and seemed agitated that she even had our table. The restaurant was not that busy when we were seated so I’m not sure what the problem was. This restaurant is pricey for the kind of food they serve. Not sure if I would come back again.
Great place for a big group we were 7 and they accommodated is perfectly excellent service our waiter was great we had lots of delicious appetizers , lettuce wrap , chick pea fries , green beans in a spicy sauce , ahi tuna and prawns we couldn’t devour each one fast enough ! Great wine list and fun cocktails would come back to E&0 again while visiting SF !
Food and service was great. Definitely coming back!
Good food. Something for everyone. Enjoyed our visit.
Great Food! Best Fried rice, ever! Pad Thai amazing, too
We had a wonderful time sharing small plates and appetizers. The service was impeccable and don’t miss those ginger cookies!
Overall- decent place to eat. Typical Asian fusion. Corn fritters were good- but heavy/greasy. Squash dumplings were excellent. Shaking steak and fried rice were 8/10. Not a great date night in my opinion as tables are very close together. Though the ambience is nice, dark lighting, etc... tables far too close for any privacy for two. A little pricier than should be if you don’t go during happy hour. If i were going again it would be for a quick, casual date night or get together during happy hour.
Everything was great from start to finish. Excellent wait staff and delicious food. Great service even on a very busy Saturday night.
Excellent experience! Nice private room, delicious food, great staff. Thank you!
We had to wait for our dishes more than 40 min. Seemed our waiter forgot our order!!
It is a busy season, and they did not rush us. The food was fresh and delicious.
Good and service was off the charts...so good we went a second time.
The service was excellent. The kurobuta pork chop was amazing. Great last meal in San Fran :)
Best food we had on our trip to San Fran!
Service was slow and all over the place. Food was over seasoned on every item (too sour, too salty and so on).
We love E&O and go every time we are in San Francisco.
Everything was well presented and delicious!
Our server was very nice, professional and attentive!
This was a delicious meal and we keep saying “Wasn’t that just the best place?” Our waitress helped move things along so we could get to our show and have great recommendations. Everything was just great- couldn’t ask for better!
Always a great experience at E&O. I had some out of town clients from LA & NYC and wanted to take them somewhere unique and fun. It was perfect! Great cocktails, the Sangrila was tasty and gorgeous, and delicious food. Wonderful staff.
We used cone here often several years ago and came back to try it again. We wanted to love it. We ordered the corn fritters, they were cold and not as tasty and fresh as we recalled. The other items that we ordered also came out cold as thought they were sitting waiting to be picked up and brought to the table. Our server never asked us how the food was, because if he had we would’ve told him. There are so many places to go in the city that we’re letting this memory go.
Never disappoints! Our favorite place for a holiday lunch every year!
