E&O Kitchen and Bar

Never acknowledged the fact that we noted it was an anniversary. We had 6 family member there for our 1 year anniversary and not even a word. Our party was also excited about dessert but to our surprise the bill was brought out after our plates were collected and dessert was not offered to us. We decided to pass after they decided to pass on our business
I specifically said many times I was vegan and said to the server to emphasize, “no creatures.” The server told the kitchen to leave the shrimp off the Pad Thai but the dish was loaded with fish sauce. Luckily I only had a small amount and my reaction was minor.
Get the small plates. They were amazing. The Pad Thai and fried rice were just ok...
Our experience at E & O Kitchen was for a Saturday Happy Hour. First of all, who knew that someone had a Saturday Happy Hour? We had gone to theater matinee and this was the exact right time to find a great experience in dining. We were seated immediately and our waiter, Daniel, proceeded to describe some of his favorite menu choices on the HH menu. Usually, it's all bar food, but these selections were diverse and more healthy and fresh. Raw oysters were a dollar a piece, we had satay and raw tuna poppers, chicken satay and their special $6 full-sized drinks. The food was clean yet complex, delicate and tasty. Daniel was attentive, especially as we kept adding items onto our order. This was a great way to control our portions and our expenses. E & O Kitchen is consistently welcoming and delicious. The tables are close together, but that's a common complaint of mine.
Excellent food and excellent service. The mushroom dumplings were so incredibly savory as was the butternut squash ravioli......would highly recommend.
During our vacation we went on 2 ocassions because we were really happy with de food and service! Great food and quality at a good price. Also their happy hour menu was great.
Great table service, and food was decent but not outstanding. Restaurant was dark and felt slightly cramped.
Great food and drinks. The service a bit slow and it was hard to get the bill when we wanted to leave. We would come back for the food.
Great food, good service! I would go back!
My friends were from out of town. I was disappointed with the service and the food. Our waiter seemed to hurry us in the ordering at each point even though the restaurant was not crowded. The seasoning was neither distinctive nor nuanced as I remembered - no clear flavor or seasoning, or textural contrast. A lot of cool ingredients added up to a blah experience. The portions were oversized. What’s happened? I ordered for myself items I had had numerous times before and loved - pad Thai and deviled eggs. But they were nothing like what I had fondly remembered. My guests’ burgers looked bad and I tasted part of one. No one finished more than a half of their food.
Our favorite place to bring out-of-town guests. Love the dumplings.
We had a very fun meal at E&O. Our waiter Grant took very good care of our needs and was terrific at explaining the dishes. With six small plates for four of us it was about the right amount of food. The drinks put it a bit out of my budget but the food prices were ok for SF.
Great place for team lunch giving everyone some choices.
As always, we had a wonderful experience. The food was delicious, the service friendly, efficient and professional, and the atmosphere relaxing.
Cocktails and appetisers were excellent. Main courses were overcooked.
Reliably great food. We always visit when we're in San Francisco (and always order the Indonesian corn fritters).
Unique combination of menu items very well prepared and delicious. Service was very attentive.
I have been going to E&O since it opened in 1997. The quality and originality of the food and service has been consistently good throughout this time - 21 years. Not many restaurants can say this and the fact E&O was packed on a Monday night pretty much sums it up. One important thing not to underestimated is the restaurant's proximity to the Sutter/Stockton parking garage, which makes the dining experience so much less stressful. If E&O would add some vegan-friendly main courses to the menu, I would award it 5 stars for food. As it stands, my dinner guest and I ate only sides and a salad, which were delicious in their own right. But all the mains, appetizers and noodle dishes were off limits for us, sometimes due to the use of a single ingredient like butter or shellfish sauce. While the latter is a staple of Southeast Asian cooking, butter is certainly not and could have been omitted from the dish without loss of flavor, in my opinion.
Excellent food, lots of flavors, good drinks!
Awesome, awesome food. We booked reservations two nights in a row rather than opting to try another place for dinner because we had to try other things from the menu. My favorites were the corn fritters, shaking beef, portabella satay, Indonesian fried rice, and Pad Thai.... I guess that’s everything we ordered. We will definitely come back.
Those corn fritters and ginger cookies at E&O Kitchen are pure happiness.
So accommodating with our crazy changing constantly reservation, great value food and service
Always warmly welcomed. A menu perfect for sharing plates with friends. Fresh and delicious. Great lunch place for meeting friends in the City.
I had not been here in years. It was really nice to find that the ambience is still beautiful and the food so delicious. I was also thrilled to see that they still had the corn fritters, which were delicious! The service was excellent.
Haven't been there in years. Meal was mediocre with some dishes being ok and the lettuce cups were really poor.
Great social place in Union Square, ideal for happy hour or pre-theater dinner. Food is tasty if a tad too sweet, but that is not unique to E&O. Great for groups and a high energy experience.
2nd visit & the food was again delicious. The dry-fried Greens beans are fantastic! Our waiter forgot one dish, but there was plenty of food anyway.
Sat at the bar a excellent food + service
Great happy hour selection and price
Great place for fusion dinner in San Francisco because right next to Stockton garage
The best-kept secret in Union Square. Great for lunch meetings and even better for happy hour!
I have visited E&O 5 times, its one of our fav spot, 4th time we went was disaster so i stopped going for a while. But this recent visit was amazing, great service by our server Jennifer was very attentive, food & beverages was outstanding.
Nice ambiance. Were we there during Happy Hour and ordered from both the Happy Hour menu as well as the regular menu. The Happy Hour items were very tasty but small. We had pad Thai from the dinner menu and that was good but not outstanding. Service was excellent
Food and services was outstanding. We were staying at the Four Seasons on Market Street so we were able to walk there in just a few minutes. It’s located in a nice, safe area where you can enjoy a nice walk through designer stores after dining. Our favorite dish was the butternut squash dumplings.
Great Happy Hour menu
Asian fusion food. Cute. Not a favorite but ok. Spicy pork sandwich is very good.'
Very casual. Almost a tourist trap and everyday SoMa tech company stop. Not the place to go for birthdays.
The food and drinks were good. Enjoyed the meal.
Consistently fresh, tasty, and good service! Good wine too!
