Dyllan's Raw Bar Grill
Our regional American cuisine features a modern raw bar, as well as a grill menu highlighting fresh seafood, steaks, and vegetarian dishes crafted with the finest ingredients.
The restaurant—housed in a circa-1890s warehouse built from locally quarried stone and exposed Virginia “iron wood” heart pine timbers—is modern while celebrating the building’s industrial past. The restaurant’s outdoor seating overlooks the historic and picturesque C & O Canal.
Here at Dyllan’s, we pride ourselves on working with local purveyors and artisans that adhere to rigorous sustainable standards.
Close Proximity to Georgetown U, George Washington U, Horward U and American.

This place is fabulous! Spacious, big, great menu. We went there for brunch and the monkey bread, chocolate chip waffles, French toast, and lobster rolls—— so good! Highly recommend and will definitely be going back
I thought the service and the welcome was great but where the issue lies is the food and value for the product. I understand the concept and what they are trying to do. It just doesn't work. And when it all comes down to it the food quality was very poor. I hope that they read these thing not to be upset but to focus and re-align to what is important. Hopefully someone will recommend to me to try it again. Because every one deserves a second chance. Good luck!
Place was empty when we arrived around 7 on a Wednesday (actually thought it might be closed before we got inside) and only 3 tables taken by the time we left. Waiter was nice but service was confused and slow despite there being nobody else there. Food was average at best. Would not recommend.
I asked for house wine... on the hill I was charged $17! Ridiculous! The food was very tasty but pricey... very good service
The waiter was inexperienced and overwhelmed. The service was EXTREMELY slow and the manager couldn’t have cared less. The manager could have righted his wrong, instead she was really the problem. The food was okay. But didn’t make up for the poor service. No wonder the restaurant was empty.
Pictured: a comped cake we didn’t want but accepted begrudgingly
I was disappointed
What a lovely find!! Darryl's is now our go-to seafood place. Fresh fish and shellfish and not overlooked. Plus excellent chicken and gumbo--delicious food for all of your picky eaters!
This week was probably my 10th or 11th dining experience at Dyllan’s to host a group of food bloggers for their very first time. From start to finish, the essential Dyllan’s dishes, cocktails, and desserts impressed each of my guests (including myself). We were met with top notch service from a team of talented servers. The owner, Don, joined our party numerous times to share the story of space, the concept, and the special platters, and we never once put down our forks to wait for our next course. Each time I return to Dyllan’s for lunch solo, brunch with friend, meetings with clients, special events in the private space, and dinner parties (large and small), I am continually surprised that my experience gets even more better. If you like attention to detail, fantastic tasting and prepared diverse menu items, and a comfortable (stylish space), Dyllan’s is your spot! Highly recommend, try it out today :)
One of the most enjoyable lunch experiences in recent memory. Extremely creative menu - strongly recommend ordered 3-4 items from the raw bar and sharing. Nice ambiance. Very pleasant service. Can’t wait to come back. Thank you.
Brunch was delicious. Food was a little pricy but it’s Georgetown. I will definitely go back, their full menu looked really good.
Great food and service but we were really cold and no one on staff seemed to care or offered to move us to another table since the restaurant was empty.
The waiters are super slow. I went for happy hour and it took 45 minutes for the bartender to even come over, and by that point happy hour was over. There were only 3 people in the entire place so I have no idea what the staff was even so busy with. This place has kinda weird lonely vibes and is super overpriced. Would not recommend for a happy hour unless you want to drink alone and not be seen.
Great lunch and dinner spot! Love the location (on the canal in G'town) and space has been freshened up from the old SeaCatch decor. Food is tasty with updated twists. Love the mushroom salad!
I write about top restaurants and chefs for a living. I can unequivocally say this was the worst service we've ever experienced in DC since I can remember. Drinks took 30 to 40 minutes, were forgotten and had to be re-ordered. At the start, 3 of the 4 appetizers we ordered arrived together, leaving one of us without oysters (the easiest and quickest of the four starters) -- for a solid 15 minutes while the other starters got cold. Dirty dishes sat at our table for 15 minutes before being picked up. 30 minutes later the entrees came with the wrong sides. They comp'd the oysters given the original delay, but not the drinks, and not the sides they got wrong -- a nice gesture, but certainly didn't make up for the evening.
For those prices you expect a level of service, attention and quality, and Dyllan's missed the mark by leaps and bounds. We will not be going back given just how many restaurants in DC now offer much more for far less.
Dyllan's is next to a courtyard that's a ways off of a street in Georgetown and it has a nice secluded, cozy vibe to it - like you're being let in on a secret. The restaurant is also next to the canal and I am very much looking forward to returning when it is warm enough to sit outside next to the water.
I had steak the first time I went and stuck to the raw bar the second time. The steak was great, but I'd definitely say don't miss the raw bar. Both the salmon and tuna tartares are unexpected in a good way, the sushi is fresh and firm, the tinned fish has a clean Mediterranean flavor, and the oysters are bright ad flavorful. I would definitely say the service goes above and beyond and the staff was extremely friendly and very knowledgeable. The prices are fairly expensive but this is a special date night spot. You pay a premium price and get a premium product. I am looking forward to my next trip to Dyllan's - I have my eye on their dry aged burger or their octopus carpaccio.
Food was EXCELLENT! Definitely try the avocado Mac n cheese!
Was excited to try the new seafood place that we ventured out of the way to Georgetown, where we very rarely go anymore. Was eerily quiet for a Friday night (but was during government shutdown so that may explain it), staff was friendly but all seemed green. Everything we ordered sounded amazing but was all quite under seasoned - most notably the saffron scallops- while they were perfectly cooked, the suave had no flavor at all. Pretty disappointing.
Excellent service and well prepared food. All meals from appetizers, entree and dessert were a delight for the entire party. Excellent portions- a surprise since this was off the restaurant week menu.
I would highly recommend to friends and family.
Went for Restaurant Week. The RW menu was very good. We decided to try some extras from the raw bar - everything primo quality. The ambiance was very nice for a date - not too noisy. The downsides: the prices, especially for alcohol and tinned fish, are way too high. And for a raw bar, everyone in the restaurant should be able to ID the oysters that they serve. I got a half-dozen mixed oysters and the person delivering them to the table could not tell me which was which. I asked someone else and had to get the waiter, who finally was able to ID the oysters. For such an expensive place, I would expect more expert service.
Had a great time at Dylan’s Raw Bar. Went there to celebrate my brother’s 33rd birthday. The drinks were great! I had a dark and stormy and all the guys drank from the great bourbon selection. But the star of my meal was the fresh oysters and the gumbo. Yummy! I want to go back and just sit at the raw bar.
We had a wonderful dinner with friends during restaurant week. Oysters were delicious...just wish they didn't use so much spice on my dinner entree. I had the linguini with clams...so good, but too spicy. I didn't expect it so therefore I didn't ask if it was spicy.
This restaurant is just wonderful and all fans of amazing seafood, remarkable tinned fish and raw bar must make it a point of trying Dyllan’s. It is a wonderfully spacious yet cozy restaurant with so much to offer for any occasion. We had brilliant oysters from both the Chesapeake and the west coast. We enjoyed remarkable tinned fish and 2 in our party even ordered some terrific filets to break up the multiple fish courses.
We loved it!! Went on a date and they sat us in a nice quiet spot in the back room, the place wasn't crowded so we could hear each other speak. The food was delicious and service was great. It's a great spot for a nice romantic date. We are defiinitely going back.
Had dinner at Dyllan's prior to a performance at the Kennedy Center. Service was outstanding. Very outgoing and friendly. Food and cocktails were exceptional. Quite a find.....
this place was awesome - had a great time. love the patio
We went to Dyllan's before heading to a show at National Theater. We were really impressed with the food and the service, the ambiance and views are incredible. My gumbo and Cioppino were outstanding, as were the scallops and the avocado mac-n-cheese. Only thing to keep in mind is that Dyllan's is in Georgetown, getting around and parking can be a challenge. But, overall, Dyllan's was fantastic, we can't wait to come back when the patio on the canal is open!
It was our second time giving Dyllan’s a chance but I think our last. The oysters didn’t seem fresh and we were the only ones in the restaurant at 8pm on a Sunday. Nearly same experience as last time - which is unfortunate :(. We hope the food gets better and this place survives!
Nice fire place, great food
Service was well meaning but not experienced for the price
We were impressed by quality of food, ambiance, and attention to detail! Warm and inviting space which allowed for conversation.
Dyllans Raw Bar Grill is definitely Georgetown's best kept secret. Since opening in August, they have begun to captivate a young professional audience that craves a classy and comfortable aesthetic, with very high quality food and alcohol selection, in Georgetown. My friends and I felt welcomed by the staff and the experience felt like a family meal. Next time I plan to try out the raw bar! Dyllans proves to be a perfect choice for ANY meal or even for nighttime drinks. Their cocktail and wine selection is very diverse. So much different than other Georgetown options. Not to mention they're the only restaurant along the canal! We will 100% be coming back.
I habe been to Dyllan's twice for lunch and both times it was amazing. The brunch menu standards that some people will need to see but it is the other items that are so creative and amazingly delicious. Thos mussels!! Veggie tart!! And the super spicky Bloody Mary (I forget what it is called) was just what I wanted. Next up ... dinner!
Servers, bar help needs training. I am a local to this restaurant and really want it to succeed. Training the servers is one of the hardest things to do, but they need help. I have dined here several times before and found the service much better. Really hate writing this review as I don’t want to discourage them.
Other than the service, that I thought was exceptionally slow, Dyllan's was fantastic. The food was great, the raw bar was very fresh and the cocktails were delicious. Minus 1 star for the service that I thought was very slow.
Delicious, fresh seafood. Hanukkah specials. Good cocktails and attentive service. Loved the ambiance and will definitely return for a date night or brunch.
Prompt and helpful service. Enjoyed dinner with friends very much.
Lovely staff, exceptionally fresh and tasty food. The tuna and avocado was one of the best dishes we’ve ever had! Verda our server was lovely.
Booked this blind coming in from out of town to meet family for dinner. Walking in, it was very quiet, half full on a Saturday night at 7 and I was worried. Staff was attentive and the bartender, who had created some of the cocktails, came over to explain ingredients. The special cocktails were AMAZING. The Buffalo Bridge was a hands down favorite of my 80 year old aunt and 40 year old cousin. The Dylan's Day Off was a well balanced and fresh drink - we preferred it up instead of over ice.
$2.75 for an oyster seems high so we skipped those and opted for some clams (fresh and tasty) and some tinned fish - which seemed odd but was good. The grilled octopus was excellent - fresh and grilled to perfection with a slight smoky taste. Wedge Caesar Salad was a hunk of iceberg with dressing; pretty unoriginal. The hangar steak was delicious - we shared and finished it quickly. The halibut was cold and we sent it back; even warm it was unimpressive. The creamed kale and spinach was buttery and yummy; the roasted broccoli was also good. They ran out of the two desserts we wanted so we went elsewhere.
Overall the food was quite good and the cocktails were the high light of the meal.
Dyllan's is in the old SeaCatch space. The decor has been refreshed and the staff is eager and helpful. The food is yummy -- both lunch and dinner. Definitely going to be going back there!
This was a terrible experience. We waited to be seated when the restaurant was virtually empty. Asked to be seated by the fireplace and was told it was reserved. That table sat empty the whole time we were there. I ordered a classic cocktail that any bartender should be able to make... was told that “we don’t have that.” Then there was the laughable offering of canned seafood for $120.00. We sent a sushi roll back which was clearly not freshly made. Tasted like kind you get at Safeway. The food we had was fine but nothing to write home about. The setting was nice. But the service was dismal. Will never go back.
Nice atmosphere but very slow, subpar service. Tuna Tar Tar was worse than grocery quality and my wife’s halibut came out raw. The filet was decent but it’s DC, you can have a good steak anywhere. Oysters we good as well but again not a true raw bar selection and the staff knows nothing about the menu, etc. they also forgot silverware.
